Chapter 2: How the Ghost found the Cat (Does the Ghost find the Cat a Friend?)

Before Story Author Notes: Whew, this may take awhile! It's 9:43 right now...Welp, let's get started. (More note tossing/Cow action!)

Kido's POV:

A-Ah, hello! Wait, no...Um, yo? I'm Tsubomi Kido. I'm a...strange case, I think? I normally act tomboyish, but at school, I act girly. I-Is that weird? I think I got used to acting shy...

Um, a lot of people at school like me...I think it's mostly for my money. I am technically really rich... My family owns a mansion. Because of this, I don't really talk.

But that all changed when I met this boy on the streets. He reminds me of a cat, so I dubbed him 'Cat'.

I 'met' him while walking to school, since my mansion is kind of close to school. He was, at that time, wearing...interesting attire. My eyes kinda got drawn to him.

Though he didn't see me. I'm kind of hard to notice unless you know me, like, really know me. And my 'followers' see me too. Those little bastar-

Oh, pardon my language! I get carried away sometimes! Um, you probably want me to continue the story, right?

Um, I wanted to talk to Cat, but I'm not sure if I could mutter a single, "Hello." I usually only talk to my Sister, or my parents.

Do I regret it? Not really. If I would of talked to him first, things wouldn't have been like they are now. I like how things are right now, though it was a roller coaster ride. Moving on!

I arrive at the school, and sigh. I will have to go through the confusing, twisting, frustrating, irratating, and idiotic halls. Let me just say... I got lost way more than once.

When I finally found the stairs, I sigh in relief. Finally! I walk to the board, and notice I'm underneath Class 2-B... Okay, cool.

I heard kids my age talking, and it was the boy I 'met,' talking to his friends, or what I assume are his friends.

Coincidentally or not, there was a little place behind a wall, just bug enough for me to squeeze in. I was technically eavesdropping, but it's not like anyone would notice, or care for that matter.

... ... ... Looks like 'Cat's' name is Shuuya Kano. Seems like a nice name, but sounds kind of...what's the word... idiotic? Yeah. That's the word.

Wait, wasn't his name above mine? I think it was...

I get out of my tiny hiding spot to double check the board. Indeed, his name is right there, in yellow. My color is purple. Interesting, considering I have quite a few purple things.

It also look like some kids drew on the board, so I picked up a white and drew a ghost, and a random color to draw a cat. A ghost by my name and a cat by Shuuya's, to be exact.

Back then, I made a promise to myself. I would talk to him one day. I believe I also thought, no matter how idiotic you turn out to be. Gosh, that sounds like something from a Shoujo manga.

After walking to the wall space again, I tried to listen for any more information. There was none.

The bell rings sometime later, symbolizing the start for the assembly of boringness. It's about an hour, explaining school rules, and greetings for the new students, like Shuuya. This'll be really boring.

---

Huh. Apparently if we listen, we'll get 12 extra credit points for every class we have if we pay attention. I suppose that's one way to make sure kids pay attention.

I was right. This is boring, boring, boring! Why do we even have an assembly anyways?! Everyone should know the rules by now, I mean seriously!

I took a lane seat, sitting in the front, so I couldn't observe any students Just to see the new students, and other students in other classes.

So I was pretty sad. Sad and bored. Shuuya is probably listening to the assembly like a good kid. Pfft, wish I could do that.

After what seemed like decades, wait no, thousands of years, the Principal dismissed us to go to our classes, or homerooms. That means trying to go through the the twisting halls. Great, just great!

Everyone was filing out, so I just went with the flow. Though I did look back once, and saw Shuuya talking with his supposed friends again. They seem to be coming soon, since they're standing, so I started to follow the crowd, hoping at least one person was going to 2-B's homeroom.

---

Huh, somehow Shuuya and his friends beat me, no surprise really. This makes me the fourth one in. That's good, I don't really want anyone to talk to me at the moment.

I then try to find my desk, which turns out to be by Shuuya Kano's, or what I used to call him, Cat. Hm, this should be an exciting day.

I notice Shuuya going towards the bookshelves, so I follow, not like he'd see me anyways, right?

After a minute, he turned around, and jumped back, shocked. Could he see me?

"My~ What a pretty young lady we have here! Can I know your name?" He asked me, and shocked that he could see me, I hid behind a column/pillar type thing, I don't really know what the heck it is, but it was good at hiding me. I shyly stuck my head out.

Since I don't usually talk to people, as you know, I strained my voice to make it sound shy. Gosh, I sound so girly. Anyways, I said in that voice, "Tsu-Tsubomi Kido..."

He looked daze, but broke out of it, so he took a second to reply. "Huh? What was that ? I wasn't really listening."

Okay...this guy is starting to tick me off. "Do I really need to repeat myself?" I asked in my normal voice, walking out from behind the pillar column thing.

I tried to settle my voice down, "Tsubomi Kido..."

"Ah~ Such a pretty name for a pretty young lady~" He bows for whatever reason. "I am Shuuya Kano, pleasure to make your acquaintance. I assume we're around the same age, no?"

"...and that matters why?" I asked, genuinely confused. Gosh, I was stupid...

He just smiles, "I want to be your friend."

"M-Me?" I asked in shock. Most people don't ask to be my friend, they just talk to me. Not even an introduction. I usually ignore them.

He took a long time to respond, and I guess he was observing me. That's kind of creepy...

"Well, are you going to answer my question?" I asked, still trying to keep my shy voice.

"A-Ah, sorry!" Shuuya stuttered, "Just admiring how adorable you look, sorry. Yes~ I'd love to be your friend!"  He smiled after he said that.

This was the first time anyone complimented me, and tried to be my friend. My reaction probably wasn't the prettiest either. So I just sigh, trying not to glare to the best of my ability.

"Idiot," I mumbled under my breathe, hoping he didn't hear. Since he probably thinks a lady shouldn't use these words or something stupid like that.

"I am one, I know!"

"I-Eh-Uh... Of course I didn't mean YOU, silly! I was implying something my sister did. I said idiotic, not idiot!" I said in return, trying my best not to force a laugh. That would sound plan weird. Looking back at this scene, I realized I'm one heck of a good liar.

"Wow, she's bad at lying..." Shuuya replied in response.

Apparently my expression went back to my blank one, and I asked, "What did you say about me?"

He smiles, "Nothing~"

Gah, this guy makes no sense.

"Hey, your pretty good at lying! Sorry, I can see through them!" I replied with a smile, and moved a bit to slap him, lightly. He winced in pain despite my light slap. Did it really hurt that badly?

"I think I've taken an interest in you, Shuuya! Let's talk at lunch, 'kay?" I happily say. Trust me, I'm not lying. I really do want to talk to him more. "If you don't, your dead~"

After that, I walk to my seat, a content smile on my face.

I think about random things, like how that black cat, yes I actually saw a black cat that day, I saw earlier was cute, and how that pink daisy was pretty.

Then I thought about Shuuya, and how he's my first friend. Despite being idiotic, he seems nice. I think we'll get along...! I shake my head with a smile to cancel that thought, and glanced at Shuuya.

He seemed to have been watching me, so I turn away, puffing my right cheek so he couldn't tell. The teacher starts to talk, so he looks away.

"Okay class," our teacher says with a smile, "We're going to have pictures taken around lunch time. After pictures, we will eat lunch. Oh, you can eat lunch wherever you want. Most common is the rooftop!"

Everyone in class says "Okay!" and waits for the intercom to dismiss us.

"Class 1-A," The intercom announced, and I sigh. This'll be a boring wait, right?

"Class 1-B," The intercom said after two minutes. 1-A must be a tiny class... after that thought, I heard Shuuya fall out of his chair.

(Welp. Here comes that randomness again, except with Tsubomi's thought process. This'll be fun.)

I wrote him a paperball messafe, and waited for the right time to throw, no toss it...

Right now. Let's see how he reacts to this joke paper. I expected a different reaction than smirking. His paper read, Whatever, you know you like it~ Besides, why can't I stare when you do, too? Gah, girls are so confusing. Also, why are we throwing, excuse me, tossing paperballs at each other if we sit by each other? Why not speak eye to eye?

Hm, what's a good lie? I quickly wrote back, Yeesh, I can barely read what you wrote for the first part of your statement. Your hand writing sucks. The reason why we can't talk eye to eye is because I lost my voice, not that'd you care.

Nice cover up, Tsubomi~ Our hand writing is nearly the same. Your lying is just as bad on paper~ If you actually lost your voice, yes I would care. I would seriously jump out of my seat to take you to the nurse's office. No joke, no lie, no scam. I admit, that made me chuckle.

Hm, is it? I guess I can only read my own hand writing. Lying on paper? Who said anything about lying? I would seriously pay $100 to see that. Just for something stupid like a lost voice.  I just countered my own lie. Whoops. No time to go back now.

How can you only read your hand writing if you understood my last message, hm? You said something about lying. Your showing it. Man, I thought I was the liar. Okay, bring $100 tomorrow and loose your voice. I'll even carry you bridal style, I'll show you! ;)

That's...a strange reaction. From anything he could of put, he...did that. Nice...

Oops. Caught red handed. Sue me. You are the liar, I'll gladly take the position though. I could lie to like you. Burned~ Hmm, I'll pass. Don't want to waste my allowance for something idiotic like that. P.S. What the heck is up with that answer? Are we playing THAT game?

As he was reading and replying, he was smiling. Should I be scared? Mwahaha. Sue you what? A kiss? ;) Lie to like me? What does that even mean? Like, say you like me and stuff, but since you lie... oh, I get it. I'm hurt, Tsubomi. Hurt. What's burned? My cookies? ;-; How is it stupid if we both benefit from it? P. S. Yes, yes we are playing THAT game. Have fun~

How...did Shuuya even get cookies from that? Maybe he likes cookies? That may be useful later on. (Foreshadowing maybe?) Don't evil laugh me. Ew, what the heck, no. I'd rather kiss a... I dunno, but the point is definitely not you. Yeah, now you get it, idiot. What the heck. No, your cookies aren't burned. You are. Wait, wait, wait, what? P. S. What the heck happened to this paper? I meant it as a joke at first, but it turned into THIS. Can we make a new one? By the way, when will the intercom announce the next class?

I actually wanted to know. I haven't heard the intercom at all through that. "Class 2-B."

Huh. I guess time really does fly when your having fun. Wait, I'm having fun? I usually don't unless I'm with my Sister.

"Holy mother of cows dancing with carrots!" Shuuya exclaimed while crashing to the floor. Oh my...what an idiot. Wait, why am I laughing?

It seems like Shuuya is talking with his friends before pictures, so I start to get up and about to leave when I hear Kozakura.

"Hm, K-Kano? What is this paper on your desk? It seems like you were having an argument with yourself..." Hold up, Kozakura called Shuuya his first name? Now it's my turn to be hurt. Ouch.

Wait, we do have similar hand writing? Huh... He glanced an 'I told you so,' so I mouthed back, 'Shut up.'

"Marry, you can read that if you want. I was just copying a conversation with my drunk Mother. I was going to tell Seto about it this morning, but never had the time. Don't ask how we got from staring to papers, and how Tsubomi was brought up. My mother is weird drunk," Shuuya laughs at the memory he just made up. He makes a legitimate liar. I'm surprised, really. "Well, time to take pictures. See you guys later~"

"K-Kano, wait up!" Kousuke and Kozakura yelled in unison. I sighed and muttered, "Idiot..." for leaving his friends. I have no clue what he was thinking.

Kousuke asked me something, but I couldn't tell what, since I was ignoring him. Though his face was priceless when I 'disappeared.'

---

After pictures was lunch, just like the Principal said. Huh, usually he just says that, and it's next hour.

Anyways, Shuuya was standing around, probably waiting for me. How kind of him. "Shuuya, we have to get lunch!" I whined, since other kids can probably hear us.

"Didn't you say you lost your voice, Tsubomi?"

"Sh-Shut up! It was spur of the moment thinking!"

"Wait, so then why didn't you want to make eye contact?" Shuuya asks, and I resisted a sigh. Back then, I was much more shy due to me ignoring people. Though that changed, wait, stay on track with this story.

"Why do you want to carry me bridal style?"

"Tochè"

"Olay."

"What??"

"Wait, we aren't...rhyming?"

We were in the lunch room now, so I grabbed my bento and came back. "So, I assume you forgot your bento?"

Shuuya nods, "I forgot it at home, I had to feed my cat and water some plants. I'm not hungry anyways."

"Oh, okay then. If you do so happen to get hungry, we could share. I don't normally eat all my bento anyways." And I wouldn't  at all today.

"Okay!" He agreed, then started walking to the roof, so I followed. When we were by the stairs, he walked backwards, doing a sly grin...? What the heck? "Hey, your mighty good at acting... We'd make a good team..."

"Heh, you wish. Though I agree! I am good at acting!" I meant it more as a joke than anything, really. To be honest, I wouldn't mind being in a group, along with Kousuke and Kozakura.

The next thing that happened made me feel really...sad? It looked depressing, but I carried on. "Hm? Ah!  Your pretty good at acting yourself! You'd be perfect for playing the... sillllly guy no one likes!"

I admit, that was mean. I had to replace it with the words 'stupid and love struck' because I heard footsteps, most likely Kozakura and Kousuke.

I was right. Kozakura looked to Shuuya, "A-Ah, Kano! Are you alright?"

Shuuya tries to get up, but instead stumbles, but since I was watching, I managed to catch him. Poor Shuuya...

"Yeaaaaah, I'm fiine!" Shuuya replies, and this was were I started to feel like carp. Yes, I said carp.

I try to lighten the mood, if at least a little, with a sarcastic statement, "Says the one who's about to faint in my arms."

He smiled on reflex, most likely. He countered with his own joke, "Hey, that means one of us can carry the other bridal style!"

I couldn't think of a good comeback, so I sounded incredibly stupid, "I...In your dreams!"

Wow. Just wow. I'm so mean to people who faint in my arms, I guess.

For some reason, he hissed a command, which scared me, I've never heard him sound so...serious? Scary? I dunno the word, but oh did the command, forgetting he was going to loose conciousness. I seriously dropped him.

When he did faint, he had that same smile on his face, and this is when I realized that this was a real bad situation, or something. I don't know what I was thinking to be honest.

"Sh-Shuuya?"
"K-Kano?" Kozakura and I asked at the same time.

Now that Shuuya was unconscious, I didn't feel like... usual me. I felt like being sarcastic. It really did show...

"Darn it, Shuuya. I was just starting to have fun too..." I was holding back tears. This was all my fault, and I knew this. Shuuya, I'm really sorry, even to this day.

"Tsu-Tsubomi?" Kozakura started to ask me, "Is Kano o-okay?"

"I don't know, and honestly don't care, see you guys later," I started to walk the other way, away from everything, and when I rounded the corner, I ran. I just...ran. I didn't know where at the time, but I went into the nearest bathroom.

At that time, I thought Shuuya was going to hate me, since I was new to having friends, no, having true friends.

This was my main thought; "Heh, in the end, I'm like Shuuya...an idiot."
