Day 3
The sound of a guitar woke me up, I didn't even notice I was sleeping this late. It's eleven in the morning. I took a quick shower and put on my swimsuit, walking outside of my room only to find Harry having breakfast in the table outside, he has a pen in his hand while he holds the guitar secure in the other.
"Is your second name Alarm Clock or something?" I ask while sitting in the chair in front of him. I'm noticing we are still anchored in St. Barts.
"Good morning." He smiles when he notices me, he chuckles at my comment. "You're the one with a sleepy head."
"Guilty." I say, grabbing a piece of watermelon that was on his plate of fruit and standing up. "I'm going to fetch me something to eat. Want something?"
"You do know you can order anything from here and they will bring it to you, right?" He says, moving his tongue against the skin below his mouth.
"I know. But it isn't me." I say, stopping next to his chair. "New song?"
"Kinda. Just felt inspired." He says with that raspy voice of his. I touch his naked shoulder reassuringly, guiding my way to the kitchen.
For my surprise the kitchen was empty so I had a little time to myself to explore the kitchen. Since I'm not that hungry, I just grabbed milk and corn flakes and poured myself a bowl of cereal. I had my phone in my hand, reading the texts I haven't checked in nearly two days. I have at least twenty unread messages from my sister.
I'm almost spit the cereal out of my mouth when I see the pictures she attached in the last messages she sent. What the fuck, that's me.
That's Harry and me walking around while shopping, he was right, they were following us the whole time. This is so weird and scary. This pictures must be everywhere.
"Oh, Hi. Didn't know you were here." Rachel says as soon as she steps inside of the kitchen, I move my eyes up from my phone. She is carrying a pile of clean towels. "Is there something wrong? You look like you've seen a ghost."
"Maybe I did. I..." I don't know how to explain what I'm feeling. I just, I haven't seen myself on the spot before.
I feel actually kind of scared.
"What do you mean?" She asks, placing the towels on the kitchen counter. I show her the picture my sister sent me, she raises her eyebrows but her face stays without showing any emotion. "Your first time, right?"
I nod my head, swiping and seeing another picture. This one is taken outside of the store, I was putting a hat on him and making him pose with a cigar in his mouth.
"It feels strange. You know? I don't think I'm ready to start seeing my face all over the internet." I say, truthfully. I throw the rest of the cereal, I'm not even hungry anymore. "I'm going to get some air."
"If you need anything, I'll be around." She says with a smile, I nod my head grabbing one of the towels she had and walk outside. I leave my phone inside, I don't want to look at it the rest of the day.
Yesterday when we were walking around, I said to him to not pay attention to them, but I actually have never felt this before. I feel bad for him. I have never seen myself in a picture like this, taken by a paparazzi. I didn't even seen them until we were leaving, so it does gives me chills. Are they looking at us right now?
Do they follow you every step you take? I kind of understand Harry now. Where's the privacy?
I lay in one of the deck chairs, closing my eyes and taking a deep breath.
Am I ready for this? To be followed around every time I'm with him?
I think its too early to decide, its the first time something like this happens to us. But if this between us turns out to be something real, I will have to get used to it. Right? Its going to be an usual thing.
Suddenly, I hear the sound of his guitar again. He is right above me in the next deck. It brings a smile to my face. Even if I don't yet know if I'm ready, I have to admit I like him already. I will try my best to keep me distracted from that little fact. It's not his fault after all.
After an hour of being under the sun and pushing those thoughts away, I refresh myself with the shower located outside and lay in the covered area. Harry joins me minutes later, he has his guitar with him.
"What do you think of this?" He sits in front of me, I have to move my legs so he can sit.
He starts playing a soft melody, its like all the bits I have been hearing for the last hour but this time put together. It's soft, has a great rhythm to it. He hums along the guitar, I have to suppress the smile forming on my lips. There's a part that he makes a half a second stop and plays the next string, giving it a sensational sound.
When he finish, he looks at me, expectantly. "So?"
"I love it." I say, truthfully. "But your humming. I think you should do it in a lower pitch."
"Lower pitch?" He asks, surprised. I try to remember the rhythm of his humming and do it in what I think is a lower pitch, he listens. "Can you do that again, but, while I play it?"
"Let's try." I say, sitting up in front of him.
His fingers start the sweet melody again and he hums first to guide me in the humming. Its an easy melody, for my luck. I do the pitch for him and he follows my tune. I see his half grin while doing it. He stops mid song, getting his paper again and erasing something on it. He writes another thing, but we are suddenly interrupted by his phone on his pocket.
"If that's my manager, I swear I'm going to..." He moves his hand to grab his phone but he stops, looking at the screen. "No way."
He leaves the guitar and stands up, answering the phone.
"Adam, my man! How are you?" He laughs into the phone, he is looking in the distance. "Yeah mate, it's been a while. No, all good."
I stay on my spot, taking the sheet that was in his hand reading his scribbles. Its just a bunch of notes scribbled up, a few lines here and there. It has a few lines but I don't really know what they mean.
"Really? You're on your way here?" He suddenly turns to look at me, he has a smirk on his face. "Yeah, I have company. Sure. Yeah, I'll... We'll be there. I'll see you later mate, looking forward to it."
With that he hangs up the phone, typing something into it. I look at him, a big question mark on my face. Finally he puts his phone back in his pocket and turns to look at me.
"So... Who's Adam?" I ask, he chuckles sitting in front of me again.
"He's a friend I haven't seen in a while. He saw us on the news or something." He says, like if he's remembering that last time he was with him. "He's on his way here with his yacht. He invited us over tonight."
"Us? He saw us and invited, us?" I say, kind of impressed. Just an hour ago I was freaking out about being in the news.
"Yeah, what's the matter?" He tilts his head to a side.
"Nothing, I just..." I frown, biting on my bottom lip. "My sister also told me she saw me on the news. It affected me."
"Affected you?" He asks, I decide on just telling him.
"Yeah, it's new to me, you know? You were right yesterday." I say, leaving a sigh out. "I'm sorry, now I understand what you feel."
"Hey, don't worry about them." He places his hand in mine, giving me a smile. "Are those words familiar? You said them to me yesterday."
"I know. I just haven't experienced it until, today." I say, but I don't want to worry him with my stupid thoughts anymore. "Anyway, so, he invited us over?"
"Yeah, he's throwing a party or something." He says, moving his hand to my back. "I mean, if you don't want to go, that's fine. We can stay here--"
"No, it's okay. A party sounds great." I give him a smile. "Besides, I need to hang out with someone else. I'm getting tired of you."
"Oh, are you?" He gasps playfully, pulling me into a forced hug. "Tired of me?"
"Harry!" I laugh as he pushes me down in the deck chair.
"How can you get tired of me?" He is now under me, he is hugging me very tightly against him.
"You're so annoying!" I say in a laugh, he presses his arms even tighter around me.
"Take it back!" He says, our faces are really close to each other.
I try to get loose of his grip and this time he lets me, I stay on top of him, now having a little support from my elbows. I get lost looking at him, my laugh dissipating with each second.
"How can I get tired of you?" I say lowly, his mouth moves into a one sided smile.
This time I'm the one that moves to his lips, erasing every bad thought I had today. I don't care about anything else right now. He brightens up my mood and he's an incredible kisser. After some seconds of slow kissing, I move away. I let out a giggle, he stares at me confusedly.
"Now what?" He chuckles with me, I look back at him.
"It's just, that we keep doing this. We joke around, you tease me and then, one way or another..." I giggle again, resting my chin on his naked chest. "We end up kissing."
"What can I say?" He holds me, sitting me up with him, my legs are rounding him now. "You're irresistible."
But just when we are about to move to kiss again, Derek opens the sliding doors.
"The food is ready, sir." He informs us, I look away. He found us in a... Kind of compromising position.
"Thank you." Harry says trying to keep his patience, he walks away right after that. I stay on his lap for another minute until we both end up laughing slightly. "They really have the best timing, don't they?"
"They do." I say, standing up and grabbing the light dress and putting it on. "It's kind of fun."
"Maybe for you." He stands up, I look at him while he accommodates his swim trunks, something pretty noticeable in the middle of them.
I burst out laughing and he does as well. This thing of staying away from each other until we're ready is getting harder for us by each minute. Literally.
-
We spend the rest of the day together in the second deck. He was focused on finish the song he showed me earlier and I was busy finishing the book I have been devouring. It's an incredible story. It's a fiction were everyone in the world goes blind, and in the city the story its located, they put these people in a kind of quarantine, it makes you think a lot. I love the way its written.
But when I finally move my eyes up, I have been reading almost in the dark, the lights of this deck barely reaching my book.
"Wow. How much time has passed?" I say, sitting down and placing my book down.
" Since the last time I had a piña colada? A day and six hours." He says, moving his eyes from the strings of the guitar.
I glare at him, blinking a few times. Then I shake my head and chuckle, standing up from that deck chair. I was tied to it the whole afternoon.
"Do you want me to bring you one?" I stop at his chair, he looks at me with endearment.
"That would be lovely." He says, placing a kiss on my hand that was previously on his shoulder. I give him a smile, and start walking away.
As soon as I get to the bar, I ask for the two drinks and walk back with both in hand. I give him one and sit across from him, sipping on the sweet drink.
"Is this us pre-gaming right now?" He says jokingly.
"At what time are we leaving? I forgot about the party." I say, truthfully. I really go somewhere else when I read.
"Thirty minutes, love." He chuckles, taking a gulp from his drink.
"Thirty minutes!?" I widen my eyes, standing up. "And you didn't warn me? I need to get ready."
"You look great already." He says while I walk outside of the deck.
"I'm on a swimsuit." I stop for a moment and keep walking.
"Exactly!" He yells from his chair for me to hear him. I roll my eyes at him, going to the next deck and straight to my room.
I leave my drink on the side table and open the little closet. I'm noticing I brought a lot of black clothes considering that I was going to spend a lot of time under the sun. I grab one of the black dresses I brought, this is a bit see through.
This is the first time I'm meeting one of his friends. I met his family already, I guess that was more of a big deal. But now, this time is a friend of him. I have never been the type of girl that cares of what people think, but I do like to give a good impression.
I wash my hair and dry it right a bit as soon as I stepped outside. I put on all black underwear, just to match the see-throughness of the dress. I'm not usually the type of girl that uses jewelry, but I put on a necklace to do a little more effort this time. I use mascara and paint my lips, using that same body splash I've had since forever.
When I walk outside, Harry was talking on the phone boat outside of the rooms, he looks at me while he still has the phone in his ear. He hangs up with his mouth still agape. It makes me blush.
"Wow, Frances." He says, he looks me from head to toes. "You look so... Gorgeous."
"Thank you." I say, taking another step closer to him. I look at his short sleeve shirt with matching shorts, he always brings out his own style. "You look great also. Very you."
"The boat is here for us. Shall we?" He gives me his arm, I laugh, taking it even when we are only walking three decks down.
The ride in the boat took us about ten minutes, for my surprise he wasn't anchored that near of us. But once we approach his boat, I already can notice his yacht is like one of ours, if it isn't bigger. I already notice people outside in the second deck, a lot of small boats anchored around the biggest one.
We both get off the boat with the help of the attendants and he shows us the way up the stairs and into the first deck. Once inside the first deck, you can hear the music playing in the next floor.
"This place is sick." I say under my breath as we pass the empty first deck.
Harry holds my hand while going up the stairs, and as soon as we reach the second deck, some people turn our way and cheer when they see him. I smile shyly while Harry goes straight on greeting them, he doesn't leave my hand.
"Harry! Long time no see." The man says, he has a whiskey on his hand while he shakes Harry's hand with the other. "And who's this beautiful girl? I haven't seen her before."
"Adam, really great to see you." Harry says, looking at me now. "Uh, she... She's Frances." He says with a smile, I blush slightly.
"New girlfriend already?" A girl next to Adam says, she gets both of our attention so we break our little gaze.
"No- Uh... We just started dating." I say, trying to make this a little less awkward. Harry runs his thumb over my hand, a secret communication of 'thank you'.
"Well, welcome to the party, Frances." She says giving me her hand for a handshake. "I'm Alex."
"Nice to meet you." I say politely. She looks incredible, I'm glad I put a little more effort on my look today.
"Come mate, the whole crew is here and they are dying to see you." Adam says, taking him by one arm but Harry stays in his place.
"Maybe later, I want to have a drink with my girl first." He says, it brings all the butterflies in the world to my stomach.
With that he leaves the small circle and guide us inside of the bunch of people in here. Finally we reach a bar and he orders himself just coconut water, he turns to me asking me what I wanted. I order a vodka soda. But as soon as they give me my order, someone stops right by us when they notice Harry.
"Harry?" A female voice asks, we both turn to look at the person. I look at her, I know I have seen her somewhere else but I can't quite point out where.
"Laura?" Harry says, his hand leaves mine and his face goes in a slight frown.
Now I remember her. He mentioned her when we first met, she's the famous ex-girlfriend.
What is she doing here?
