Chapter 11
Throughout nearly all of the transmigration novels Hyejin had read, either with a male lead or a female lead as the main character, the issue with the soul had never existed. It was like the authors had naturally decided to brush over the fact and they were right to do so—nobody notices such a minor detail.
Including Hyejin.
The concept of a person dying and their soul going in the body of someone else in a different world, it was a typical novel category.
So, finding out that her body and her soul weren't compatible... it was unfathomable. Hyejin just couldn't wrap her mind around it. If her soul was unable to sustain life in a foreign world, then why was she there in the first place?
Was it another case of accidentally getting called here, another typical novel storyline?
But that didn't seem right.
She wasn't personally greeted by the world's ruler nor god for getting summoned. Nor did her physical body get summoned.
It wasn't like her current life was simply ink on paper. She couldn't brush it under the rug and ignore the heartaches that attacked her at random times.
The only solution that she could think of was perhaps asking Solaris, the god worshipped in this world. Unfortunately, she was no oracle nor had the miraculous ability to speak with the god in her mind.
She didn't know summoning magic either.
Maybe I can go to the temple.
Not at the moment, but mayhaps in the future when everything was sorted out.
Which meant that she would need to continue to suffer from heartache.
Just the thought made her get a headache.
Thinking of magic, in the novel, the princess also had magic.
Hyejin couldn't remember which type of magic since she barely used it—as she had Zeler, the genius sorcerer by her side.
From the details she did remember, both parents needed to have magical abilities in order for their child to have it as well. As usual with a male lead—or potential in this case—Zeler was an orphan with no family history, yet ended with the highest level of magic.
Reading about it, Hyejin assumed that perhaps the author would reveal his family or previous family history in order to explain his magical phenomenon, but it was never addressed.
As expected.
Maybe I should've seen that as a red sign and dropped the book filled with plot holes.
But unfortunately, it was too late for Hyejin to regret anything.
As for the princess, if both parents need magic, then that meant that the queen had magic!
So I can do cool tricks with the flick of my hand like in the movies!
As per usual, the queen had no details about her magic so Hyejin had no idea what the queen was capable of. Seeing as she hailed from a prestigious family—something Hyejin guessed as she ended up as a queen—and she was the mother of a nation, it can be expected that Asielle has powerful magic?
Hopefully?
"Helenda," Hyejin opened her mouth to ask but remembered that she was surrounded by servants trying to get her ready for a second time that day.
"Yes, Your Majesty?"
"Never mind. I'll ask you later."
Helenda looked at her quizzically but nodded and bowed. Luckily, it was a few moments later that she was prepared again for the second time.
This time, she didn't even bother to check herself out and just allowed herself to be lead to the meeting area by Isleila.
"Isleila, how is the princess faring?" Hyejin couldn't forget about the pipsqueak and the bunny that she had allowed to be free in the castle. Hopefully, the princess didn't hear about her mother passing out and continued to play, carefree.
Isleila quickly caught the gist of her question, "Do no fret, Your Majesty. Her Highness is unaware of what has transpired and is playing in the small garden with the royal pet."
Small garden? How many gardens do these people need?
First it was the Kong's funeral area, then the faeries garden, now a small garden.
They really must love their nature in this world.
"Your Majesty, although we planned for you to meet both nations' guests separately, due to the unforeseen incident, we have moved the representative from the kingdom of Shuria with the kingdom of Heavaln." Isleila explained diligently and Hyejin nodded.
"Isleila, who is the representative?" Hyejin deeply regretted not asking the question the first time. But hypothetically, it would've been odd if the queen asked who her friend, the king of another nation, was and she would've given herself away.
"Oh, Her Majesty Queen Kenesha has sent the crown princess, her niece, Azarea."
Mhm, a name that rings a bell.
A very familiar bell.
Who could ever forget the girl who was obsessed with Duke Klasius?
Hyejin couldn't help but questioned her taste.
Out of everyone available, she just happened to go for the man that went on a rampaging murder for the throne.
Classy.
Not that Hyejin was too shocked. He was described so freaking handsome, women wanted to jump his bones at any moment they saw him.
Okay, maybe not that drastic.
But abnormally handsome did fit the criteria if the man she saw at the funeral was correct.
And at the moment, he was behaving not rampant?
Meaning if he had committed any murders like a true tyrant, he had done it in secrecy or not at all. Didn't seem likely to not kill, based on his true personality and the fact that these historical people saw killing as necessary for crimes, enemies, or even as a hobby.
As a modern citizen, it disturbed her quite a bit.
The closest thing to murder that Hyejin had done was possibly eat a sashimi rice bowl, which contained raw fish.
Well, there were some crimes punishable by death in the modern world, but not Hyejin wasn't too familiar with how all that worked.
Did that mean she was going to step in as queen and create a law where murder was more punishable?
Hell no.
Who was she to play hero?
She was going to give up the throne and have her hands clean from any work. Realistically, she wasn't one to suddenly become a political genius. It was miraculous enough that she hadn't been exposed so far nor fucked up too deeply.
Saint...
That title didn't belong to her.
Mayhaps if she was more inclined or more invested, then she would try to fight more with the man or become one.
But how could she fight someone of his caliber? This wasn't where he would suddenly have a light switch and turn from a genius into a literal dumbass, the plot armor of the female protagonist didn't work in real life. So it was just walking into a slaughterhouse without any plan. Or fighting with empty hands against an enemy that was fully equipped.
She didn't have the energy to try and waste her time for something useless.
She didn't even have the advantage of being transmigrated when he was younger, to stop him from turning as twisted as the man was! Now, the only advantage she had was just the knowledge of the novel and the characters and their names.
In reality, it was a matter of getting away to save herself first. Maybe the little girl with her, even raise her properly.
Who am I kidding?
What do I know about raising a kid!
Responsibilities, responsibilities.
A dreadful thing that she was going to avoid the most to save her own life.

I meant to post this yesterday! It just slipped my mind. A hundred or so words less than the usual chapter word count, but solely because I didn't want to write more for the ending of the chapter.
I'm sure you've noticed by now, she overthinks. A lot. Which is solely due to the situation. But don't let that fool you. She overthinks to make things convenient for her in the easiest method possible (such as abdicating the throne). This habit will slowly grow out as she matures (spoiler?).
Anyways, yes the sashimi rice bowl is an actual korean dish. It's called hoedeopbap (회덮밥) and I've never had it.
See you tomorrow!
