Chapter 6 Adrien Finds out about the Genie's Past Masters!

One week later, Adrien could not decide on his fourth wish. He struggled with indecision on what the best thing to wish for could be now.

          "Hi, Adrien!"

        "Hi, Marinette!"

"Adrien, who is this?" Natalie wanted to know as she pointed to the genie.

"Hi, you must be Natalie, Adrien has told me so much about you," Marinette smiled/

Adrien replies,  "Natalie this is Marinette, she is the genie who came from the lamp, and she is my friend."

"Nice to meet you, genie, I mean Marinette. "

"You know I must remain a secret, right?" Marinette questioned.

"Yes, and your secret is safe with me as well. Well, have a great day you two!" She went back to her room to read a book.

It is good to see Adrien has a friend. I think he loves her. Too bad, she is a genie. Natalie thought.

Marinette says, "Wow, Natalie is way nicer than I imagined. I am glad I got to meet her acquaintance today."

"There you go again with that look of dismay. What is the matter?"

"I rather not talk about it," Adrien scowled.

"I have more wishes left, but  I can not decide on wish four yet," Adrien told her.

"Yes, well that is just fine. Oh, dear!  I just remembered I forgot to tell you not to wish for the power of the genie."  She says.

"One of my previous masters did that once. To this day he still regretted it, but you know the rules.  Well, let's just say he got the wish. It was not quite what he thought it was though." Marinette says.

"Now, he is a genie. He has to grant wishes as well though he can only grant three wishes per person who should come across him. He was an evil man.  He is now one of the worst genies ever I might say."  Marinette explained.

"Thanks for the warning.  I agree this sounds rather dangerous." Adrien said.

"Are you sure there is no way to meet the person who turned you into a genie?"

"I am sorry, but I believe this is impossible.   Besides, I do not think I want to come across the likes of him." Marinette frowned.

"Then there was a time a person wished for their pet cat to be okay when there was a tornado about to hit their house. Can you imagine this?  Here they are in danger and they worry about a feline?"

"I granted the wish.  The cat survived and the man was fortunate to make it as well. His wife and in-laws sadly did not make it. A beam came loose when the tornado hit and his in-laws died instantly.  His wife tried to hide in the jacuzzi which I might add was the worst hiding spot ever.  The man awoke the next morning with no family, but his silly pet cat of his made it."

"I felt sorry for him. I took pity on him as he had used his last wish on the cat. I helped him pay for the damages to his house, car, furniture, etc., and for the expenses for the funerals."  Marinette remarked.

"My last Master before you, was the worst though. He was horrible toward his family and was shocked when they left.  He wished for fame, a boat, and I forget what else he wished for anyway.  He blew his last wish on a new car for the baby-sitter. He  was furious when I refused to grant him anymore wishes." Marinette said.

   "Then, what happened?" Adrien asked.

"He was mad. He threw my lamp into a nearby dumpster and left town.  My lamp ended up at the local junkyard. It sat there for a long time until a nice man came by the place, picked it up, and gave it to you. I was so happy to discover I was not in the junkyard anymore."  She said.

"Whoa, that sounds dreadful. Good thing I cleaned it off then, otherwise I might never have become your friend."

"Yes, well do not concern yourself about such matters. This was all in my past as a genie over the years." Marinette smiled.

"What would you like to discuss next?"

"I changed my mind, for the fourth wish, I wish for your lamp never to be so dirty again," Adrien called out.

"Thank you so much. Wish four is granted!  It looks shinier than when you first wiped it off."

The lamp is extra sparkly, and yellow than before the wish.

"Glad you like it," Adrien smiled.

"You are smiling. I rarely ever see your smile. I must say I like it." She told him.

"I have something I have to do, bye!"  Adrien ran to his room in a hurry.

"Hmm, I wonder why he left the room? Did I say something wrong?" The genie asked herself.

  With  Grandpa Fu and Wayzz...

"Wayzz is something on your mind?" Master Fu asked.

"Yes, as a matter of fact, there is something.  You see the genie and Adrien are rather close now.  I believe he cares deeply for her." Wayzz replied.

"Yes, I agree on this Wayzz, he does care about her." Master Fu remarked.

"I know he is in his twenties and no longer a child. I feel sorry for him."  Wayzz responded.

"Oh, you mean because of the rule about genies not being able to love?"

"Yes, that is exactly what I mean."

Back to the genie and Adrien...

Marinette stood in the living room alone. She is uncertain what course of action to take next. She thought, Adrien, is a real puzzlement.  One minute he is happy and the next he just walked off.

Adrien sure is an odd one. He has three wishes left. He has not used any wishes on himself though. He does not have any clues about what happened to his father.

I wish he found him. Maybe then, he could find the closure, he needed.
