Hudson
It's been a long week. I guess that's the understatement of the year. One day we were eating ice cream and playing truth or dare. Then the next we're fighting witches and blindly following each other.
Alana was looking at the fish. Her ear drums had just been blown and now she's deaf. We had just shared a kiss. Her lips were just as soft as I remember. She's the strongest person I know but at the same time she is so delicate.
Her grey shirt was faded from age and it sagged over her shoulders. Her jeans were old and ripped. She wore the same black snow boots that she wore every day despite the fact that it was the middle of summer. Her hair grew out and is now touching her shoulders.
Will walked into the room with Grace. He was trying to help her walk because she was in a large, black boot for her wound. She lightly shoved him off of her and limped over to me.
"How is she doing?" She asked.
"Pretty good actually. I don't think this really bothers her." I responded.
"She has always been the kind of person who keeps to herself. Come to think of it she's never actually talked to Will."
"I know. I think you might be the only one who has talked to Will." I didn't like Will. I didn't have a reason other than the fact that he was talking to ny sister. I looked at him. He looked ridiculous with his glasses.
Grace pulled Alana out of the room and said that if I got to know Will, I wouldn't hate him. We sat in awkward silence for quite some time.
"So Alana seems pretty cool." He said.
"She's amazing." I responded.
"Glad you think so."
"Why?"
"Because she doesn't." He continued to tell me that he noticed certain things that Alana did that showed him she was insecure. The scary part was that it was all pretty accurate. That was the day that I learns that there's more to everything than i thought. Will is very perceptive and he showed me that the world isn't just black and white.
I learned to look at people and learn who the are just by the way they stand. Or to memorize the smell of something. He said that it's not five scenes. It's five small parts of something bigger. I also learned to give people a chance. I gained a new friend that I wouldn't have if Grace didn't force us to talk.
When Grace came back in we were talking about basketball. Him and I both liked the same team.
"I see you two have been bonding." She said. I was about to reply happily when the entire submarine just shifted.
The three of us were trying to keep our balance when we were launched to the side of the ship along with everything that wasn't nailed down. A giant chest came flying at me. I rolled over and dodged it. My face was against the window. I saw the witch. She was standing in a giant air pocket useing her magic to reak havoc.
I rolled onto my back. I saw an emergency axe falling towards me. I moved but not fast enough. The axe fell on me and chopped my hand clean off. I screamed and looked other my arm. Blood was squirting in the air and I could see my bone. A blood spattered Grace screamed beside me.
I stood up and took of my shirt to wrap up my hand. I looked up and saw the doorway to the medical wing. I did my best to climb up. Hansel was luckily in there so he was able to pull me up. He saw what had happened and grabbed a needle that was by his foot. He told me it was morphine after sticking it in my arm.
"We don't have time to wait for the morphine to kick in so this is going to hurt." He said. He then took a blow torch and held it to my wound. I screamed. The morphine soon kicked in. I felt nothing. Just a small sting. When he finished burning it, Hansel wrapped my arm in cloth.
All was relatively calm until we felt the submarine shift. The sound of crushing metal followed by the sight of the walls bending inward, made Hansel and I panic. We quickly got everyone out the water door. We all struggled to swimming to the surface.
I was running out of breath. I knew that I could either drown or pass out. Either way I was doomed. I watched Grace slowly sink. Will and I caught her and swam as fast as we could. I plugged her nose so she would inhale any water.
We all reached the surface and breathed heavily. Our faces were all bright red. The relief we felt was short lived as everyone watched hopefully as I preformed CPR on Grace. I was crying. I've never felt more relived than the moment when I saw water shoot out of Grace's mouth and heard her take a deep breath.
She sat up and coughed. I hugged her but not to tight. She didn't hug me back. I understood that it was because she was busy recovering from death. Eventually she did hug me though. When she did I also felt Will bulldoze us to hug her.
"What happened to your hand?" She asked.
"It got chopped off with an axe." I responded. She looked puzzled and worried.
I looked around to make sure everyone was ok. I didn't see Alana though. I looked around frantically and didn't see her anywhere. She was still under water. I ran into the ocean and dived. I didn't get far before I saw Jack shooting up at me. He pulled me out of the water and dropped me on the beach. All he had was the safe. Alana was still under water. No one could get her. She was dead.
