Alana
I was sleeping comfortably in Hud's arms. Nothing was wrong at that moment. Then the nightmare began.
Hud was hanging on to the ledge of a cliff. His eyes were begging me for help. I quickly got down on my hands and knees and tried to help him. My hands were bound with tight ropes. Regardless I still tried to pull Hud up. I felt clammy and cracked hands grab onto my ankles which were also bound. Whatever had me dragged me towards it. I refused to let go of Hud so whatever it was just dragged him up with me. When Hud was on land he stood up and ran to my feet. I turned around just before Hud punched a witch that looked just like the one Cindy described, in the face. I was able to reach my feet so I untied the ropes that were tied around them. Even though it hurt, I used my foot to loosen the ropes on my hands, until I could slip them out. When I looked up I saw the witch put Hud in a head lock and cut his cheek with her gnarly nails. Just as I stood up and started to run to his rescue, she snapped his neck. An image of an emerald necklace popped up for a few seconds. I woke up.
Me popping up and gasping in crazed horror, woke Hud up.
"You ok?" He asked. I felt his face in raged panic. My hands quit scrambling when I placed them on his cheeks and realized that he was still alive.
"You're ok." I cried.
"Yeah why wouldn't I be?"
"Because the witch snapped your neck. She cut your cheek. You were hanging off the edge of a cliff. You died trying to save me." I hugged him. I couldn't be more thankful. I knew it wasn't real, but I liked to think that he really did love me that much. Even if we weren't dating and were just friends. I liked to think that he loved me either way. Even if it was the same way I loved Cindy and Grace. As if us three girls were the only family he had left.
"You had a dream about the all mighty?" He asked.
"Yes but that's not the point. You died. She knows you exist. She wants to punish me. She's really angry." I cried.
"Come on." Hud took me outside and showed me how to get onto the roof.
I was surprised to see Hansel up there with a gun. I could only assume he was keeping guard.
"Hansel. The all mighty entered Alana's dreams." Hud told him.
"Tell me what happened." Hansel said to me.
"Not until you tell us the truth." I angrily stated.
"What?"
"The all mighty is beyond angry. She wants to rip your children apart. She wants to kill me as well and you didn't know who I was until a few hours ago. She has to big of a grudge for this to be just be about cuts. So tell me what really happened." Hansel explained that after the witch fled and they came to, they went threw her house. They took some potions, a spell book, a sword, a wand, and an amulet with an emerald and two sapphires on it. Just like the one in my dream. He thought the witch was upset about the wand. I remembered seeing a wand in the witches pocket so I knew that it wasn't because of the wand. It had to be the amulet.
"No. It's the necklace." I argued.
"How do you know?" Hansel snidely asked.
"Because the very amulet you just described was in my dream. She probably wants it back."
"Why would she cause all this death and terror for a piece of jewelry?"
"Terror? You haven't had one of the nightmares. She hasn't been talking to you. You don't know what terror she has caused. You can't say that you're so afraid or panicked or terrorized or anything along those lines because you don't know what you should be panicked about! All you know is that some people are having nightmares about witches and death! So don't you dare say that you're afraid because us KIDS should be the scared ones!"
"This witch wants to kill my kids!"
"Yes the son and daughter of yours that I practically raised! You're only afraid for yourself!"
"That's not true!"
"Then prove me wrong. Be brave instead of weak and help us beat her. I will kill her for you but at least help us do it!"
"Fine. We set out for wonderland in the morning."
"Wonderland?"
"Yep. Plans change." Hansel climbed off the roof and into a tree. Hud and I sat on the cold tin roof watching the stars for the rest of the night.
I was kind of excited. I would get to go to the place my parents fell in love at. I guess that's pretty cool. Plus I would get to meet the man I was supposed to fall in love with. I doubted that I was going to fall in love with him though. I don't think Hud was to excited about me meeting him. He kept saying that we should go back home. He said that there's no point in meeting mad people with hats. I very well knew that he was talking about the new mad hatter.
"You know if we go off of our parents stories than you're supposed to be in love with Cindy. Are you in love with Cindy?" I asked.
"What? No. Cindy's cool but I don't like her like that. Plus she's my sister." Hud responded.
"Then why would I be in love with a guy that I never met. I'm clearly not following my story right now. I don't think I'm ever going to follow it when we graduate. I want to travel to the ends of the earth with my boyfriend and the best friends I could ever ask for. I want to be the mother of wonderland witch hunter girl Alex, or a witch hunting mad boy named Hectare or something. If I wanted to be with a mad hatter I would have already gone to wonderland." Once I said that, Hud gave me the most handsome and sincere smile I have ever seen. I had clearly gotten my point across.
I watched as his smile of joy and peace turned into a look of terror and panic. He slid of of the roof and landed on the ground. I quickly followed his lead. He darted into the house and ran over to Grace. She was asleep and was squirming and shaking.
"She's having a nightmare." I whispered to myself.
"We have to wake her up!" Hud screamed as he shook her. I joined in and shook her legs. Everyone else walked into the living room confused and scared. Cindy saw that Grace was asleep and shook her too. Us three were practically shouting her name while shaking her violently trying to wake her up.
Finally she woke up. When she did Hud instantly sat her up and hugged her. Grace doesn't sleep for a very good reason. Every time she falls asleep she gets major nightmares. She doesn't just wake up from them like the rest of us do, hers just keep going and going and going. It's almost impossible for someone to wake her up. Plus her nightmares don't end when she wakes up. She'll hallucinate about them for a couple minuets after she's awake. So she doesn't sleep. If she does sleep, it means something is wrong.
