Mark And Hit
Your POV
I read through The Book Of Battles as I waited in the cafeteria where TT-69 said that I'll be meeting my study partner. Aparently Ground Tactics and Workshop were my only two classes for the day. I heard footsteps comming my way, so I looked up. "You Y/n?" An iktotchi asked.
I nodded. They sat down, a balaclava masking their face. "I'm Braun. Apparently I have to teach you the basics on space combat. I was told you have some concepts down, but not others. You just need to learn the basics for now. Something to do with air support." Braun explained.
I listened in to his smooth voice as he went on to explain the basics. What the three main craft are and how their used. The standard Vulture Droid, the starfight equivlent of the B1. The Hyena-Class Bomber, basicly the Vulture but with bombs. And the Tri-fighter, the interceptor.
He explained what they could do, and what they couldn't. We even ran through a senerio on my datapad, with Braun leaning over my shoulder to see. His right horn brushed past my head as he took a closer look. "Apologies." He said. "It's okay." I assured.
Soon enough we were done, and I was off to the range. I still need to keep my marksman skills in check. I entered to find Kest Juss speaking to the geonosian in charge of the range. The geonosian glanced at me, then geastured for me to go ahead. Kest noticed me, but went back to talking with the geonosian.
I stopped by the wall with ammo on it and took a clip. (Yes, I know mags and clips are two different things, but stop being an annoying cunt) I also grabbed some earmuffs to put on. I took an open stall and put on the earmuffs. I hit the start button, activating several target holograms.
The holograms resembled the Republic's many different forces. Police droids, senate guards, Jedi, army soldiers, and even an Old Republic soldier every once in awhile. I leveled my RG-4D and started blasting away. Blaster bolts that glew less brightly than their lethal counterpart hit their marks.
None hit the wall at the end of the range as they escaped from my blaster. Some holograms took more hits than others, simulating the armor and toughness some people, species, and droids had over others. I almost shot the next hologram when I realized it was a B1 this time.
It only got harder from there, with holograms of friendly droids mixing in with the Republic ones. I took a split second to identify friend from foe before shooting. I even had to panic a reload, almost letting a hologram glow red enough to 'fire a shot', which would've meant I failed the set.
Soon enough all 90 holograms were defeated. I took a few seconds to catch my breath as I took the empty clip out of the blaster pistol. "Impressive." A voice said as a few sets of clapping were heard. I turned to see Trench there with his tactical droid. A few other cadets were watching it go down.
"Sir." I said, saluting. "At ease. You handled the jump in difficulty well. Continue with the same skill in other subjects and you will make a fine leader." He said, going on to speaking with the rangemaster. "My my, passing a surprise test without any mistakes, you really are admirable." Kest complimented.
I nodded, dropping my empty mags into the appropriate receptacle, and my earmuffs into another. I grabbed a new clip as Kest kept on talking. "I would wonder how well you'd do during next week's simulation, but darling I know you'll pass without fail." Kest complimented.
"Thank you." I said. "Wait, you do realize I'm male. Right?" I asked, hoping to erase any feelings. Kest thought for a moment before smiling. "That just makes it better!" He said, making me blush. "Well, I have a firearms test to pass. Later darling." He said, walking off.
I was left a blushing mess as I adjusted my hat and left back to my room.
(Timeskip)
I laid on my bed in my nightgown, reading the Book Of Battles. Maybe Kest wasn't just looking for a hookup. Then again, I could be wrong. Not like I would allow myself to date, due to the many many problems that would come up.
Still, I need to focus on my classes. The simulation next week will be my first real test. Today was nothing compared to what I had to do back home, but I will be able to use less units than I did back there. I'll have to be more strategic, and I'll have to use what will be taught over the week.
I looked over to one of the shelves where a necklace with a peice of bone replacing where a jewl would be stood on it's stand. Home. I haven't thought much about it since I left. Hopefully I only remember what I need from there.
An announcement came over the PA to alert all cadets that it was time to wrap up what they were doing and sleep. I turned off the lights and put away the book. This week's gonna be interesting.
(880 Words. Thank you for waiting. Next chapter wont be the simulation, but the one after that will be. If you have seen my DeviantArt, then you might know what'll happen in the bext chapter. Goodbye, and thank you for reading.)
