Chapter one: A new beginning
Have you ever had something happen to you that changed your life forever? A single moment, that changed you and the people around you. Changed you into something, someone different. Someone that feels different than everyone else. Different than who you were before.
My name is Astrid, Astrid Rigel. I've had a normal life, but I've always felt different than everyone around me. But that was all going to change, and this is how my story begins.
"Astrid! Astrid! If you don't wake up I'll post all your embarrassing baby pictures online!" My eyes shot open and saw my younger brother Jackson, who's four years younger than me. He smirked, which just made me a little ticked off.
"What is it, Jack?" I growled at him because I was still very tired.
"We're here." He said. I looked over and behind my little brother was a house. It had two stories, a giant garden, and a forest behind it.
I nodded, and unbuckled my seat belt. Getting out of the car I felt the cool air hit my face. I smiled; I walked to the open door to look inside the house. It was amazing. Well except for the boxes that were everywhere.
"Oh you're awake." I looked over to where my mom stood. In her arms was a box, it had the flaps open and it said "fragile" on it. "Do you mind taking this box." She handed the box over to me.
In the box we're little nicknacks and a few picture frames. I smiled, then something caught my eye.
I put the box down and pulled out a picture. A tear welled up in my eye. My mom must have noticed, because I felt a pair of arms wrap around my shoulder.
"I remember that picture, that's when I was pregnant with Jack." My mom said with sadness in her voice.
The picture in question had my sister Sarah and I on a pair of swings at a park. Mom was smiling next to the swing set, her hair more of a dark red then grey back then. And behind Sarah and I was a tall man pushing us. He had a bright smile on his face. His eyes were closed and his blonde hair was all messed up.
I turned the frame over and seen a little heart on the back. A tear fell onto the frame; I missed him so much.
I missed...Dad.
"I know you miss him, I do too. But I'm sure he's happy that we're moving on." Mom tried to comfort me.
"Yah." I managed to say somehow. I wiped me tears and put the picture back into the box.
"Astrid?" I turned around to face my mom. "Are you sure you're-"
"Astrid! Are you down there, if you are can you help me with this!" My older sister yell from upstairs interrupting mom.
"What were you going to say, mom?" I asked.
"Nothing, just go upstairs and help your sister." She smiled, but I knew it was fake. She barely ever smiled a real smile, since after the accident. But I smiled back and headed upstairs.
Inside the first room to my right stood my older sister Sarah. She's just six teen, two years older than I am, but she acts so adult. Especially after what happened.
"Hey." I said. She turned around, the light shinned off of her strawberry blonde hair. She gave me a smile, I returned the favor.
"So you Are awake. Darn, I really wanted to help upload those baby pictures to the internet." She joked, but I knew she would actually do that if she could.
"Ha ha ha, very funny. Now what did you want help with?" I asked.
"Oh yah, some of your boxes I actually put in my room. Could you help me move them?" She asked looking around my new room.
"Yah."
As I helped Sarah, I had a strange feeling of being watched. I didn't tell Sarah because she'd think I was crazy. So I just ignored it.
When we were all done I fell onto my new wooden floor. It felt nice just to lay there.
"Tired?" Sarah asked slightly laughing.
"Of course . I didn't get any sleep last night." I sighed sitting up.
"Nervous?" She asked.
"No I just had a bad dream."
"Again? Is it the same one?"
"No it was a different one for once. That's not much better thou." I said sighing again.
"Hey about your, um dream?" She started.
"Yah what about it?" I was really confused. I knew she was talking about the one I have a lot. The one I'm always terrified of. She just never like to talk about it.
"Never mind." She bit her lip.
"Well," I looked out my window. "We better head downstairs, looks like it's almost time for dinner." I said sitting up. I smiled at Sarah, trying to relieve some of her worries. She gave a small smile back as we headed back down stairs.

"Astrid. Astrid." The voice said. It scared me.
"What do you want with me!" I yelled looking frantically around the pitch black room I was in.
"You know."
I saw I figure in the darkness, their face was still to blurry to make out. But there was one thing I could tell about them. They were holding a glowing necklace. The necklace looked like a star with a purple gem stone in the middle.
"What is that!" I yelled at the figure.
"You'll find out soon enough. And when you do I'll destroy you and everything you hold dear." The figure said as the light started to fade. As the light faded I could distantly hear laughing and screaming.
My eyes bolted open, I was staring up at my ceiling. I was laying on a air mattress on the floor.
"It was just a dream. It was just a dream." I reassured myself.
I sat up and looked at my phone which was next to me. It was 4:00 am, early as usual. I sighed and decided if I was up this early I should at least get ready.
It was my first day at my new school, and you could say I felt like throwing up. I would be the new kid, and for everyone else in my new school it would be the second semester. Just great.
When I was finished getting changed I went downstairs. I grabbed a bite to eat and decided to out for a early morning walk.
I opened the door and felt the cold air hit my face. It (luckily) wasn't freezing cold since we moved to Oregon. Yep a town in Oregon call Celestial Heights. So for it being February it wasn't freezing out.
I mostly just walked down the street lost in thought. My mind wondered, thinking of my new school, new house, but mostly I thought of dad.
"So much had happened in just a year, it scares me. Everything changed in the moment of the accident. Everything I love felt like it was disappearing at that moment. I hope Jack, mom, and exactly Sarah. Mom said she was the one that was the saddest in this whole thing. Why did it have to happen." I thought as a tear fell from my face. The tear felt like it froze from the chill in the air.
My thoughts were interrupted when I fell back and landed on my butt.
"Sorry about that, I didn't see you there." I looked up to see a guy, he looked about my age. His brown hair in his face and blue eyes that sucked me in. In other words I just got there and already had a crush.
"It's ok. I wasn't watching where I was going." He gave me his hand and I took it. He helped me up, and I dusted off my uniform for school.
"Oh, are you transferring to Celestial Highschool?" He asked happily.
"Yah I'm going to be a freshman." I said a little shy.
"God I just met this guy. Why am I acting so shy!" I screamed in my head.
"Really? Cool I'm in that class. I'm Albert Comet, but most people call me Al." He said.
"Well I'm Astrid Rigel, it's nice to meet you Comet." I smiled, he looked at me confused. "You said most people call you Al. But since I'm not like most people, is it ok if I call you Comet?"
"Yah, I like that. Thanks Rigel." He laughed a little. "Is it ok if I call you that?"
"If you want, I guess it's only fair." I laughed a little.
"Nah. I was only joking with you, I'll call you by Astrid and you can call me Comet. That work?" I nodded.
I looked down at my wristwatch and seen it was 6:30 am. Meaning I had to get back home.
"Well I better head back home. It was nice meeting you." I started to run off.
"Same for you! See you at school!" He yelled as I started to sprint. I really needed to get home to make breakfast.
When I got home I stopped at the door. I had that feeling of being watched again. It was a weird feeling but I knew I shouldn't go against my feelings. Not again, no ever again.
I turned around and didn't see anyone. The only thing I saw, was a cat with a weird collar. But nothing out of the ordinary.
I turned back at the door and smiled.
"Maybe this will be a normal ordinary year." I said to myself walking in the door.
But I should have know, that was the opposite of true. This year was going to be anything but normal or ordinarily.
