Suffocate

//Max's POV//

"Y/n...who is this boy?" I turned to see Y/n's father at the door way.

I could see the fear in Y/n's eyes.

I decided to just be respectful and speak when spoken to.

"Daddy, I can explain-"

"Who are you?" He asked me in a threatening voice.

"Erm, Max, sir."

"Y/n, what are you doing with this..boy in your room?? How did he get in here?!"

"W-We were hanging out, playing cards and just talking!"

"Pfft, I saw you too kiss. Speak for yourself, boy, how long have you been seeing my daughter?" He turned to me.

"We've only been friends until this point, sir," I answered respectfully.

I tried to keep as calm as I could for Y/n's sake.

I didn't need to loose my temper to this guy.

"So you're more..?"

"I mean, only if Y/n wants to be," I gave her a small smile, her smiling back a little bit.

"Like hell you are."

"D-Daddy, please!" Y/n tried to reason with her dad.

"You are not to see my daughter again! Do I make myself clear?!"

My heart stopped.

Everything just got from 0 to 100.

I couldn't hold myself back anymore, I was going to lose it one way or another.

"Sir, I'm afraid I just can't do that," I spoke up.

"Excuse me?" Her dad snarled.

"I'll never leave Y/n's side, only if it's by her own request," I stood up, taking Y/n's hand.

"Listen to me, you punk, she doesn't need some hood like you!" Her dad pushed me away from him.

"Daddy!"

"Hood? You better watch what you're saying, bud," I snapped back.

"Max! Calm down!" Y/n looked to me.

Y/n's mom then walked into the room, sleepily unaware of what was going on, "what's with all this noise-"

She was cut off when she saw me, "who's that?"

"Some hoodlum who thinks he can touch my daughter," Mr. L/n hissed.

"I didn't touch her, man! And this 'hoodlum' isn't some sort of gang member either, so maybe you should stop stereotyping me because of how I look!" I yelled back at him.

"Y/n who is this boy?!" Her mom yelled, waking up immediately.

"I love Max, mom, I love him," Y/n started to cry.

"No you don't, sweetie, no you don't. He's tricked you," Her Dad snarled.

"What the hell is that supposed to mean?!"

"Young man, you better watch your time," Her mom held up her finger.

"I'm just trying to reason here," I put my hand on my chest.

"SHUT YOUR MOUTH!" Mr. L/n yelled in my face as he pushed me.

I clenched my fist, wanting to knock this guys teeth out, but I was still trying to hold it together for Y/n.

"I don't care who you are, but I want you to get out of my house, right now!" The Dad yelled.

"DAD, PLEASE," Y/n yelled.

"Y/n, you have no say in this!" Her Mother pulled her back.

"I'm not hurting her in any way! Why do you guys want me away from her?! You don't even know me!!" I protested.

"We don't want to know you either!" Mr. L/n forced me out of Y/n's room and down the stairs.

"Max, I'm so sorry!" Y/n came after me and her dad.

"Y/n go back upstairs," Her dad told her.

"Y/n, you have nothing to apologize for," I told her.

"Do not speak to my daughter," Her Father growled at me.

He pulled me outside and shut the door, and kept it pulled closed so Y/n couldn't get outside.

"Listen to me, kid, if I ever, and I mean ever see your face here or near my daughter again, you have trouble on the horizon, do you understand?" Her Dad threatened me.

"Sir, I can't just-"

"DO YOU UNDERSTAND?!" He yelled in my face again.

"Yes sir.." I lowered my voice.

"Good..Now get off my property."

He went back inside and slammed the door.

I could hear from outside yelling and even screaming from both Y/n and her parents.

I felt so bad for my sweet Y/n.

I started to walk to my car so I didn't have to hear it.

When I got in I just sat there for a little bit until I punched my steering wheel, making my hand go red, to bruise later and the horn go off.

'It just isn't fair. Why do they have to suffocate her like that?!' I thought.

The drive felt longer than usual, and at least 3 cigarettes were smoked in the car

When I finally got home, I went to the basement and slammed the door.

I got a joint of my stash, lit it, and took a hit.

I just needed to feel good.

I needed to get stoned.

And as high as I got and how dumb I felt, I still didn't stop thinking about her.

Still didn't stop reliving the image of her crying for her dad to stop and her dad kicking me out.

Still didn't stop crying.

Still cursed her parents, namely her father off.

I wished I was with her, in my drugged up fantasy.

I wanted to be better, and that's what she did.

She was like weed in a way.

She makes me feel so great, but when the rush, when she's gone, life is just boring and empty.

I finished the joint at just sat in the basement, alone look a loser.

The lonely stoner, who drives an old, dying pick up, that skips school and gets into fights.

The asshole who's adopted dad has to get him out of everything and just got kicked out of the love of his life's house by her father.

The stoner who just hated it all without her.

After a while of just laying in the basement, even until it was the later AM's sometimes dozing and even sleeping, not getting even a text from Y/n, despite it being Saturday, even even though I would've skipped anyways.

It went from Saturday to Sunday as the sun rose up through the basement windows in the corners of the ceiling.

David came down as soon as he woke up, somehow knowing I was down there, "Max, you smoked it again, didn't you?"

"Yeah, I did."

"How long were you out last night?"

"Couple hours. Why?"

"You came home early and didn't even go to bed. That's odd of you. Did something happen?" Dad sat on the couch next to me.

He was still in pajamas, with the classing Camp Campbell T-shirt and sweatpants with a sort of tree design, his hair messy and eyes tired.

"Well...yeah, shit happened."

"Tell me what's wrong."

"I don't know.."

"Max, you can tell me anything," He put his hand on my shoulder.

"Well.. I was at Y/n's-"

"Oh, Y/n!! How is she?" He interrupted.

"She's fine, Dad, just let me finish. We were hanging out and I ended telling her I liked her."

"Good job, Max!" David smiled.

"We kissed and her dad walked in..."

"Oh? What happened afterwards?"

"He kicked me out and told me to never see her again. And..I just can't fucking do that..she's too special dad."

"Oh, Max...I'm sorry. If you want I can have a talk with him?"

"No, dad, it's alright."

"Okay, well..I'm a believer in young love, so I think you should still see her. You'll still see her in school and you guys can probably make a resolve with her parents. You know they're only saying that because they want to protect her."

"I know I know, but they just smother her and she just feels trapped. I just want to get her away from them," I put my hands on my face.

"That's her decision to make, Max, not yours."

I sighed, "you're right."

"Look, I'm going to go make breakfast if you want some."

"Okay. Thank you, dad."

"Your welcome, Max."

And as soon as David left, I heard my phone buzz.
