Food Hunting and...Tents?

The smell of smoke and sound people whispering had Nathan rolling on the ground to the discomfort of it but the sound of boots snapping little twigs and the feeling of something crawling on his nose, woke Nathan up in a start.

He gasped and paled immediately when he realized he was still on the Island. He had really missed his Two million dollar meeting.

"Dude, you okay?" The Caramel skinned boy that had slept beside him rolled over and said. Michael was it?

"I'm fine. Just still surprised I'm here. How you taking it?" He asked as he stood up and glanced at Brian as he tried to calm Ramus that looked like he was having another panic attack.

Michael held his nose between his fingers then said, "Not so bad. I'm just a little depressed though because I was to meet my sister after a long time yesterday."

Nathan gave him a sympathetic smile, "Sorry about that."

He nodded, "Yeah and your deal too."

Exhaling, he took his hand out to him and he used it to pull him up. Nathan tapped his back as he let go of him and walked over to Brian who had finally calmed the kid down. "Hey."

Brian gave him a bored look and said, "Hi. The rest of them went to wash up. You want to go?"

He stared at his suit and shook his head as he pulled of his jacket off. "I think I'm fine like this." He said as he folded it.

"I think I'm good too." Michael replied as he shoved his hand in his pocket.

The four of them turned just when the rest of them joined in. Dave and Doug just washed their face, Marc had unbutton his jacket, showing off his inner white shirt and John had also washed his face and pulled his jacket off.

"You guys good so we can start food hunting?" Nathan asked. As the oldest, he thought he should try to take charge and help them survive until they find help. So far, no one was challenging him.

"Sure." Ramus answered calmly as he stood which shocked almost everyone because they just gapped at him. He rolled his eyes at them and said, "Can we just not look at little o' me?"

"Not our fault bro." Dave crossed his arms over as he rested on one foot, "You had acted full on energy yesterday. Today it's all, 'sure'." He added just as calmly.

"Hey. It's a stage, okay? I call it DADA process, especially when you just break up with something or someone. I passed through the Denial and Anger stage yesterday so today is going to be my Depressed and maybe Acceptance stage."

"I know what it's like to be depressed. I was going through that before I came here." Doug said as he raked his hair with his hands. "But I'm good now since my mind isn't on my business or anything out of here even."

"Good. Keep your head in the game." Nathan said, helping Brian up when he asked silently. When everyone was up and ready, he continued, "We are going to go in twos. It would help us cover a wider range. Pick a partner and let's start moving."

Everyone fell silent and quietly picked their partner

Ramus took a step closer to Brian then pretended to be distracted by something on his shoe when he looked at him. John and Doug stood beside each other so they just shrugged and shook hands. Michael came up to Nathan and silently asked and he nodded. Paired by default, Marc glared at Dave but he just smirked, looking away from the man.

"I see we've made a silent agreement. Let's see what we can find." Nathan said then waited for them to leave.

John and Doug quickly started a conversation as they left but Brian stopped in front of Nathan and asked, "What if there is trouble?"

"Run. There aren't any other ways about it. When you know you're far away from it, you can call on us. We'll find a way to get to you." He answered with a nod.

"Great." He grunted then pulled Ramus behind him, "There better good fruits." He added in annoyance.

Nathan didn't even have time to look back before Marc clung to his shirt pleading seriously, "Please anyone but him."

His brow creased in his own annoyance, "Come on, just ignore the kid."

"He just insulted me this morning. How can I keep ignoring him?"

"Next time," he plucked his hands gently from his shoulders and dropped it gently to his side, "You pick your partners quick."

Marc frowned at him, "Stupid Americans." He huffed then walked away in another direction.

"FYI, there's really a book called Stupid Americans." Dave grinned before he ran to catch up with his Asian.

Nathan ignored them because even if his accent might be slightly like the Americans, he was an African. He cocked his head to the direction they were going to at Michael and he quickly started the journey, following right behind him.

So far it had been hopeless. Just unnaturally green forest that slapped his face every time Michael walked past them. Other than the red and blue bird that scared him every now and then, they hadn't even seen anything. Nothing to eat at all.

"Careful." Michael said just when another large leaf hit his face. "There's mud here."

Nathan bit his cheek to prevent him from saying anything immature or stupid as he quickly evaded it.

"So," Michael began as another branch of leaves hit him again making Nathan stop to grunt in annoyance but with his partner's focus ahead, he didn't see when Nathan stopped and he continued talking, "Do you have a family to go home to?"

Nathan glared darts at the boy's back and said when he finally walked pass the damn branch, "No. I'm not even dating."

"Why?" he asked.

"Because my last girlfriend was an ass. Made me take her kids boys scouting every year then one day bam, 'Nathan, I think it is not working out'." He said sadly as he dusted the leaves of his shirt. He always felt terrible anytime he remembered that. What did he ever do wrong?

"Sorry about that." Michael glanced back at him and gave him a gently smile that almost cured his aching heart. At least that was before another leaf slapped his face and he snapped.

"You know what? How about I stay in front and you watch the back." He said as he quickly marched in front of him.

Michael gave him a confused look when he looked back at the boy, "Okay?"

Nathan shook his head then led the way straight up, happy to not meet any mean branch slapping his face every time but Michael's who cursed every time one hit him.

And it was a lot before they found a large clearing. It was surprisingly big enough to have two houses and a garage. On the perfectly cut grass- another weird thing- were materials used to make tents, finished wood with other building equipment and...was that a flask?

Michael quickly rushed for one with Nathan following slowly behind in case it was a trap. His partner sat on the grass and opened the flask just to see rice and chicken sauce as he had expected. Food.

"No way." Michael gasped and quickly took the spoon from the cover and was about to dig in but Nathan stopped him quickly, staring at him, shock at he'd just eat it.

They were looking for fruits not food and it was even still hot with the way he could see the steam coming off it which meant who ever did all these was still around.

Nathan ignored yet another puzzled look from Michael and listened for any foot steps but nothing, not even the wind. He turned back to his partner to see he was up and frowning at him. Confused by his sudden change of mood he said, "What?"

"Can you tell me why I shouldn't eat it?"

"It could be a trap obviously." Nathan responded, looking around and noticing something else. "Michael, how many are we?

"Eight, I think." He folded his arm over his chest.

"Well if you haven't noticed, there are eight tents, eight flask and if you group the working equipment and furnished logs, you'll see it is also eight."

Michael dropped his hands and his eyes soften, "What are you trying to say?"

"It could be a trap. Maybe there are natives here and they saw us crash. It's possible they put something in-" He fell silent when he heard something in the bushes.

Turning away from Michael, he took a step back towards him when the noises became louder and the leaves and bushes shook visibly. His back slammed against Michael's oddly firm chest but he was too scared to leave his position to apologize. Nathan's heart skipped a beat when Michael's hand fell to his shoulder, scaring him a little but his heart only hammered more when two set of colorful people stumbled out of the bush, falling helplessly to the floor.

Nathan and Michael remained silent as they both took in deep breaths to calm themselves.

Michael whispered, inching closer to Nathan, "Do you think they are the people who set the trap?"

"Could be. We've got to take a closer look." He suggested then looked around for any weapon, just in case. He saw a Saw then quickly glanced over his shoulder at Micheal, "Get that Saw over there." He cocked his head in the direction and Michael quickly let go of him to get it.

When he had picked it up, they made a silent agreement and Nathan neared the bodies first, kicking one of the men's side to see if he would move. The other rainbow colored one did, rolling around to face upwards. His breathing was raged as if he'd been running and when he raked a hand through his hair, Nathan could see it was dark brown and the only person with that kind of thick curly locks was... "Brian?"

He only exhaled, cleaning his face with his hand making the little freckles he had all the more visibly and proving further he was Brian.

"We safe?" Michael asked as he tightened his grip on the Saw.

He nodded, sighing in relieve only to have him jump again when the person he had kicked rose his head sharply and said, "Oh my god! Let's do that again!"

He suspected it was Ramus because they went into the forest together.

Brian frowned at him, sitting up right when his partner did, "No way. Just because of your stupidity I can hard see my own skin." He showed the kid his blue and red hands.

Ramus scoffed and turned to Nathan, "There were like five different color ponds in there. We mistakenly entered the red one but the purple, blue, green and yellow ones were on purpose. You've got to see it. It was amazing."

"Do you have any idea how hard it's going to be to wash all these off?" Brian fused on but Ramus just gave him a goofy grin.

Micheal dropped the Saw with an eye roll then came towards them to help them up. "You guys scared the shit out of us."

"And we brought fruits." John's voice called from the other end of the clearing making them all turn to him and Doug.

"Come over here." Nathan called, moving away from the other three men he was with and that was when he saw the white envelope just under his feet.

He picked it up and stared at the name in bold.

                 The Gay Project.

There were no stamps or anything which meant it wasn't mailed. Turning it over, he glanced up at the last set as they joined the others, arguing. Marc was yelling at Dave, but the kid was just smirking at the man and countering everything he said which only seemed to get him all the more mad.

Marc glowered at him one last time before turning his attention to the others and staying away from Dave when he joined them. Those two could give someone a headache.

Looking back at them, he waved the envelope in the air to grab their attention and when Michael asked what it was, he shrugged and answered, "I haven't opened it yet. It's probably left by the people that did all of that." He pointed at the tents and equipment that were lined up and added, "I'll read what they have to say and we'd know what we should do about those things."

"Is that a flask?" Dave stared at it then turned back Nathan, "Is there food in there?"

"Yes. And I was about to eat it but Nathan said it might be a trap." He crossed his arms over his chest again and hardened his gaze at him.

Nathan rolled his eyes, scratching the back of his ear before he opened the envelope and brought out two folded paper from in it. Putting the envelope under his pit, he opened the first paper to see a letter inside it with another small blue card that he decided not to read yet. He focused solely on the letter and it said:
