Drag Queen Contest.
Marc helped John lift the last plank of wood to cover the last hole on the roof of the cottage. Doug and Nathan hammered it in and it fitted with the rest of the roof. When they were done, they got down from the ladder and the four of them gapped at their completed work.
Marc never knew he would ever be building a cottage in an abandon island. He made a mental note to cross out lost on an island and build a cottage from his list of things he would never do.
The cottage wasn't as good as the ones The Gay Project made for Nathan and John but they could live. If they could just paint it, it would look as pretty as the one they sell on the market.
"This isn't actually so bad." Dave's voice boomed from behind Marc and he leaped forward, startled.
Turning, he glared at the English kid but Dave just rolled his eyes and glanced at the cottage. "So, is this ours?"
"Should be." Nathan turned to them and said, "When we called Brian to help out he just brushed us off to be with his boy toy."
Marc grinned, glad that he could finally have a place to himself...and of course the sarcastic kid beside him.
"Good for you man. I'll be off to meet The Gay Project's latest present." John punched Marc's shoulder slightly then started to leave.
Dave chuckled and said, "Too late man. Michael took her to the hot spring."
"Really?" Marc added, "Maybe if he's lucky, they could get hot and heavy in there." He didn't know why he teased John, maybe it was one of the consequences of being around Dave a lot but it felt cool especially since John went red.
His whole face went the color of a tomato and he looked at Doug briefly before marching out angrily. Marc was about to laugh at how ridiculous he looked until he noticed the tensed atmosphere.
Marc got a glimpse of Doug reddened face before marching out awkwardly with Nathan tailing behind with him. Marc scratched the back of his head and wondered if he had said something he wasn't supposed to say.
"Whoa, Marc. What was that?" Dave turned to the Asian and grinned widely at him, clearly impressed by what he did.
"What was what?" He asked, confused.
"Don't tell me you didn't notice that?" He rose a brow at him but Marc just shook his head to prove that he was still clueless. "Didn't you see John and Doug, their whole embarrassed faces?" He made a hand gesture towards his face then continued, "When you mentioned hot and heavy they went red and that definitely means they are doing it."
"Doing what?"
Dave leaned closer to him like what he wanted to say was important and he wanted only Marc to hear it, "Sex."
He pulled away in shock and stared at the kid. "Sex? Are you out of your mind?"
He crossed his arms and frowned at him, "You've got to get it now or never. If we don't get out of here soon we'll be stuck in that cottage making the most sexual sound the island has ever heard."
"I hope you don't plan to do that with me."
"So you don't mind me cheating on you?"
"I don't care, Dave. These guys won't force us to have sex. We'll only have sex if one of us is interested and if there is one thing I am not interested in is having sex with a man."
Marc expected some snarky comment from Dave but he didn't respond and instead just gapped up at him like the Asian man had stepped on his toes.
It took Marc a while to realize that Dave wasn't as negative as he was about the idea of sleeping with another man. He watched Dave shake his head and look away but he was too late because he had already seen it. The rejection and hurt.
He wanted to ask how. How could he fall for a man he barely knew and moreover, was he even gay? Marc remembered when they had first met and tried to compare the Dave of now and then. There wasn't much difference. Still annoying, sarcastic and unserious.
It really shocked Marc to have the kid in front of him harbor feeling for him. He never would have noticed.
"Hey idiot." Marc was drawn back to reality by the sound of Dave snapping his fingers in his face.
"What?"
"Bonnie is here and she said she's got our task." He said, his scowl, never leaving his face.
"Oh. Did she say what it was?"
Dave didn't bother to answer him and just left him there but Marc was smart to follow him because he wasn't gonna get the answer from just standing there.
Everyone gathered at the place they had marshmallows the night before. The firewood was burnt and the smoke was still coming out of it. Ramus dropped down in front of it and Dave sat beside him to listen to Bonnie.
The cherry blond woman waved the card in the air and smiled, "We've got it." When she did not receive the same cherry response, her forehead creased. "Why are we all so down?"
"Last time we got a task," John was saying, "It left a scar somewhere in our minds."
"I don't mind." Dave said then glanced up at Marc, "As long as The Gay Project doesn't tell me to have sex, it's totally fine. Right Marc?"
Marc could just regret his very existence because of that kid smiling cheekily at him.
"Again, just ignore the idiot."
There was an awkward silence that passed and if Bonnie didn't clear her throat it would have killed all their spirits. "Okay. Since we have got that out of the way, let me quickly read the card."
Marc managed to glance away from Dave as the card read;
We know you all haven't done anything fun for a long time. Two weeks actually. We have decided to throw a drag contest. Yes, we said it. A drag contest. That is the reason why we have sent Miss Bonnie to help you all with your make up and outfits. Who wins gets a reward and of course we will be judging. The precipitants will be Ramus, Doug, Dave and Michael. They will wear the drag costume for the rest of the day so we can judge. The results will be read tomorrow at the brink of dawn. Your chances of winning are in the hands of Miss Bonnie. Time limit: Today!

"Wow. That's a lot of shit on my hands." She joked to lighten the mood when she saw how depressed they were.
"You are kidding me, right?" Doug said angrily. His normal calm nature was out the window.
"Thank God they didn't call my name." John said from beside him, "If they did, I would have just killed myself."
Brain laughed, so widely that he fell to the floor. "Gosh, I can't help cranking up just for the thought of you all dressing as women."
"Shut up, Brian." Ramus rolled his eyes at him, clearly irritated then stood to leave.
"Whoa Whoa." Bonnie stopped him before he could go any further. "Your limit is just today and I have to do your make up and get you the right outfit. I believe it would be best to start now."
When everyone just passed glances around Michael took it in himself to be the first. "I don't mind going through the awkward transition first."
Bonnie grinned, "Thank you. Come on," She said gleefully as she gripped his hand, "I think I know the best make up for your skin tone."
"Really? I honestly thought there wasn't." The dark skinned boy joked as Bonnie literally dragged him to her tent.
Ramus grunted then walked out, clearly annoyed by what Brian had said earlier and Brian was right behind him, apologizing.
"Those two are just perfect for each other." Dave cooed as he watched them enter their tent.
Marc frowned at his so called partner for his inability to read some moods. Wasn't he even mad that they have to dress him like a girl? Frustrated, he walked up to Dave and pulled him away from the rest of the men.
Dave didn't try to shake the man off him until they were right in front of their house. The Asian took his hand off him and said as he stared at the house, "We should start moving."
"I think I'm fine with the tent."
Marc felt a weird sensation flow through him and he turned to Dave who was hardly giving him a glance and was playing with a stone in the grass. The Asian glared at the kid, mentally praying the kid could just die.
"What do you mean you are fine with the tent? I built this because of you."
"Because of me?" He rose brow at him and Marc sputtered.
"I-I uh...for the both of us I meant, of course." He glanced away from the kid.
From the corner of his eyes, he could see the kid smile and it wasn't the intimidating one he gave practically anyone, it was the sweet and grateful one he gave Marc once in a while. That expression always made Marc feel so happy that he always blushed when he saw it. And he wasn't any different now.
The kid wasn't even helping his situation when he said, "Thank you, Marc."
Marc laughed to cover up his extremely red face then said, "Sure, Sure. Just...let's move okay."
"Yeah."
The Asian let the English kid walk in front of him just in case he was just pulling his leg when he agreed to do the work with him because Dave wasn't known for helping out. They got into their tent and Marc made Dave fold all the futons while he carried the blankets and clothes he had managed to wash.
He got out first because Dave was having troubles folding the second futon but what he saw shocked him to his bones.
It wasn't surprising because he had suspected it but what shocked him was the fact that he really hadn't seen two men kiss before. And no, he hasn't watched The Interview.
Brian and Ramus's lips were locked and from the way Brian looked, Ramus had initiated it. They were behind their tent which was far from the view of every other person because the houses were blocking them.
Brian looked like he didn't know what to do but Marc felt like he wasn't disgusted by or irritated by it. It wasn't even long before Brian realized what was really happening and kissed him back.
In all honesty, Marc was ready to sit and watch because in some stupid way, it was turning him on but the sound of Dave trying to leave the tent knocked him out of his weird thoughts and he pushed the kid back in.
"What? Aren't we supposed to take all these to the house?" Dave asked, pointing at the futon he had managed to fold into an awful shape.
Marc didn't want him to see what was outside, mostly for their sake because Dave wouldn't know how to shut up about it. He tried to focus more on helping Dave fold the futon correctly as he said, "You got the futon all wrong. You are supposed to roll it."
Marc got down, dropped the blanket and clothes and started to unfold the futon. Dave came to join him and watched as he rolled it slowly so it wouldn't be too bulky. The kid didn't even notice that Marc was trying to keep him in there, he was just too fascinated by how well the futon came out when he was done.
"Wow. I didn't even notice it was that easy."
Marc looked up at him when he said that and he froze, realizing how close he was to kid. He could practically hear the kid breathing. The man tried to move a little away from him not to arouse suspicion but his leg got in the wrong angle and he yelped in pain.
"What?" Dave asked worriedly as he drew closer to get a look at his leg.
"It's my freaking ankle." He whined then cursed in Chinese as he slowly got his leg in front of him and gasped at the weird angle it was in.
"Damn, mate. What were you trying to do?"
Marc panted and looked up at his partner, surprised by his use of 'mate'. It was then it occurred to the Asian that English people loved to use the word 'mate' but this was indeed the first time he had heard him say it.
"Okay." Dave said again then gripped his foot. "I'm gonna snap it back into its rightful place at the count of three mate. Are you ready?"
Marc nodded vigorously then started counting with him, "One, two, thr-"
Dave snapped his foot back into shape and Marc swore he saw stars. "Ow Ow Ow. What happened to three?"
The kid grinned, "Sorry, mate. I just thought it would be more entertaining."
Entertaining? Marc just ignored his response like he always did when he talked then knelt to get up. As he was standing, Dave thought it would be the right time to stand too and when they finally stood, they were just too close that he could actually feel Dave's body on him.
He looked at the kid and swallowed. The kid wasn't short and was just eye to eye with him. His eyes were so grey that it felt enchanting, his plum pink lips felt like they were calling to him. Marc wanted to step back from all that temptation but he had a feeling if he did, his leg could fuck up again and this time maybe the kid would be on top of him. Then he would really be fucked.
His subconscious didn't mind that at all because he was damn too close to kissing that boy. If only that bird didn't chirp and knock some senses into him.
Marc quickly looked away and picked up his blankets and clothes and gave it to Dave. "Take this to the house. I'll fold the futon and dismantle the tent."
Dave stared at the items then shook his head as if he was coming out of his own daydream. He took his and without another word or glance, he left.
Marc just hoped Brian and Ramus were done doing their business because what just happened was totally their fault.
Stupid Brian and Ramus!
