Chapter 52
Third Person POV
Time suddenly stopped. Only Aidan, Cleo, Darrel, Ethan and Isabelle were moving. The five of them looked at each other in confusion. "Everyone ok?" Cleo asked.
"Yeah... Other than a headache." Aidan rubbed his head.
"That was weird. I never remembered something that detailed." Darrel said.
"Uh, what's going on?" Isabelle asked, noticing that no one was moving.
"Are we frozen in time?!" Ethan panicked.
"Oh wow, cool!" Darrel exclaimed.
Cleo's hand touched Ethan's shoulder. It immediately caught fire.
"AHH!!!" Ethan tried to put out the fire, throwing himself down to the snow.
"Somebody get some water!" Darrel panicked, Ethan was suddenly drenched, with the fire put out.
"What's going on?!" Isabelle asked again.
"One minute I'm fine, next I'm on fire, next I'm soaking with water! Now time stopped for some reason! What's next?! Being dry would be nice?!" Ethan grumbled, a breeze surrounded him and he was completely dry.
"What's this?" Cleo looked at her palm. "And this?" She pointed to her streak of red hair.
Suddenly a bright light shone on them, it was the moon. They stood out in the open, looking up to the moon. A voice, Manny, talked to them.
"The five elements..."
"What? That doesn't even make any sense." Ethan said.
"Try explaining what happened just now." Cleo shot back.
"I don't get it, who are we? I don't even know who I am now!" Aidan exclaimed. "Is the moon serious? We're the five elements?"
"The flashback... Does this mean that I had some elemental power since young?" Isabelle asked, looking at the symbol on her palm.
"Yes, you just didn't know how to use it, what more control it."
"Why do we have it in the first place?" Cleo asked.
"You were chosen, and you proved yourself worthy. The symbol you each have is your power."
Water began to surround Darrel. "I'm a water bender!" He said excitedly. "I don't even know how I'm doing this!"
Cleo tapped her foot lightly on the ground and a ring of fire circled her feet. "Oh my... I don't know what to say."
Aidan touched a tree, shut his eyes and concentrated, the tree uprooted itself and came to life, shook hands with him with a branch. "Nature is always with me..." Aidan whispered.
Ethan imagined himself being able to fly freely, the wind suddenly lifted him up into the air. "I can do this?!" He asked in disbelief.
Isabelle rubbed her hands together and touched Darrel. "Ow! Hey! Find someone else to be your test subject!" Darrel said, rubbing his arm.
"Electricity... Now what happened when I was six is starting to make sense..." Isabelle muttered to herself then looked at the moon. "How do we control it?"
"You'll learn with time..."
In that instant, time resumed itself. Ethan had a shock when he saw everyone move again and fell down.
"The tree's alive!" Jamie screamed.
Everyone wondered how the five of them suddenly teleported to the other side.
"What's your game?" Pitch demanded.
"It's no game. Things just got real." Darrel replied with a sly smile. He was eager to use his powers on Pitch, even though he barely knew how to control them.
"Shut up kid." Pitch snapped.
Tooth turned to Bunny. "It's them. They are the five elements!" She said, still not quite believing it.
"Ok, so now what? Do they know what to do?" Bunny asked.
The tree Aidan brought to life suddenly charged at Pitch, throwing him all the way across town. The nightmares immediately attacked everyone.
"Get away from me!" Isabelle backed away from the incoming nightmares and a lightning bolt struck them, they were fried up.
"So let me get this straight, you have powers?!" Olaf asked.
"Apparently." Cleo nodded, with fire in her hands. "It's kinda easy, you just think of what you wanna do and it appears!" She then shot fireballs at the nightmares.
"It's like we knew how to use them all along, even though it's only the first time." Ethan added.
Elsa looked at them. "You all have no idea how lucky you are..."
A large barrier of water created by Darrel surrounded everyone, separating them from the nightmares. Water poured down on Jack and Bunny, waking Jack up. "Uh... I didn't mean that. Looks like we really need to learn how to control it." Darrel gulped.
"Cold!" Bunny shrieked.
A tornado flung Ethan out of the water barrier and back in. "I take that back when I said I know how to use my powers. Someone train me!" Ethan said.
"Wait, try lifting the rest all the way up!" Hiccup who got on Toothless said. "We can save those who are up there!"
"What?! Look, I've never tried more than myself-"
"Just try!" Hiccup cut in.
"I'm trying!" Ethan said frantically. "Was all that just now beginner's luck or what?!"
Jack grabbed his arm. "I gotcha. All right, calm yourself down... I know what it's like when you suddenly have powers and successfully control them for the first time then immediately fail. It's gonna take practice. I didn't learn how to fly properly on the first try. The wind wasn't easy to control. Anyway, that's a story for another time, let's go!"
Slowly, with Jack's help, everyone began to rise, Darrel's water barrier broke and drenched the nightmares.
"Incoming nightmares!" Tooth yelled. The nightmare horses on the ground had morphed themselves into bats, one by one.
Pitch regained consciousness, completely baffled by the tree that threw him. When he got up, he was surrounded by people. The police then arrived too, armed with guns. Everyone steered clear of them.
"Hands up!" The police demanded.
"Please, I don't have time for this." Pitch snapped, looking at his enemies who were floating in the sky. He blasted nightmare sand at the police, who quickly responded by shooting him but Pitch was quick to dodge.
"Nighty night." Pitch smirked, putting everyone to sleep with his nightmare sand.
Meanwhile, in the sky... "I can see them!" Hiccup yelled in joy. "Hurry Ethan, Jack!"
"Hiccup!" Merida exclaimed. She and many more were trapped in a large cage of nightmare sand.
"What do we do?!" Jack asked.
"Free them first!" Bunny snapped.
Elsa and Jack froze one of the bars, but they couldn't snap it. "The cage's immune to ice!" Elsa said.
"Pitch made it immune to all of our powers!" North said. "Sandy here tried but it didn't work. I tossed my snow globe and that didn't work either."
"But Pitch didn't know about us yet." Darrel grinned.
"What do you mean?" Anna asked. "Also, since when did you guys dye your hair?"
"Long story, we'll tell you later." Cleo said, setting fire to the cage. Darrel quickly protected them in a barrier of water.
"When did the lot of you have... Powers?!" Eugene asked.
"Long story!" Aidan repeated. He turned around. "Pitch is coming!"
"Where?!" Astrid asked.
"He's coming! Nature told me!" Aidan replied.
"Not if I can help it!" Isabelle raised her hands. Electrical storms surrounded them, lightning crackled almost every second.
"On a scale of 1 to 10, how sure are you that the lightning won't strike us?! Unless you've 100% learnt how to control your power!" Ethan ducked.
Pitch wasn't expecting for the electrical storms to appear, he was nearly struck by lightning and it shocked him so much that he fell down like a sack of potatoes.
Jack burst out laughing. "Happy landings!"
"Done!" Cleo puffed. The cage was no more, everyone was free. Elsa ran to hug Anna.
"We're gonna need a lot of time to figure this out, with Pitch and his upgraded powers, this won't be easy." North rubbed his head. "Then again, with the five of you now having powers..."
"Ethan, buy us time!" Olaf pleaded.
"How?" Ethan asked.
"Use your wind to hide us in the clouds!" Olaf replied.
"Um... Ok?" Ethan gulped, unsure of himself. "Pray I don't screw up."
"You guys help, I'm going down there to face Pitch." Jack said.
"Jack, it's suicide! By this kind of time the rest of The Nightmares would be conscious! You won't be dealing Pitch alone!" Elsa stopped him.
"Nonsense! They would know that Pitch betrayed them and fought him too." Elinor said.
"Then... Where are the rest of The Nightmares? We've only seen Pitch lately." Cupcake asked.
There was a quick moment of silence. "You think... Pitch killed them?" Rapunzel peeped.
"No, I didn't." Everyone turned around, it was Pitch. "But I will kill the lot of you."
Merida quickly shot an arrow at Pitch, he simply slowed down the speed of the arrow with his nightmare sand. "That won't work. Nothing will." Pitch smirked.
"Oh yeah?" Jack challenged.
"I'd like to see how you can handle it with all of our powers combined." Elsa added.
"Go ahead." Pitch said causally. "It won't even hurt a bit. Seriously, you're just wasting your time and energy."
A swarm of bees suddenly came flying. "I didn't mean that!" Aidan screamed.
"Control it!" Darrel snapped. "Damn it Aidan, you couldn't call eagles or something?!"
Toothless howled and the two dragons that Drago had summoned earlier came to him. Valka and Astrid got on each. Hiccup, Valka and Astrid then ordered their dragons to fire at Pitch.
Bunny and North called their eggs and yetis, which were surprisingly able to float, Ethan was able to handle it. Jack and Elsa converged their powers to freeze Pitch. If we can't freeze him to death, we could burn him to death. Jack figured, glancing at Cleo.
Ethan made a tornado to pin Pitch in one position so that he couldn't run. Cleo made fireballs and flung them at Pitch. Darrel and Isabelle worked together, adding electricity to water. "Someone's gonna have a nasty shock." Darrel chuckled. The bees brought by Aidan went to sting Pitch, but he just seemed to be immune to everything.
Melee attackers like Anna, Kristoff, Elinor, Rapunzel and Eugene ganged up on Pitch but Pitch made an invisible shield, protecting himself.
"I can take this all day!" Pitch laughed. The shield he had began to deflect every attack back at the owner. Most of them were immune to their own powers so they weren't hurt. But for the dragons, they were badly hurt.
Ethan was sweating profusely. "Uh... Guys, I can't hold on much longer!"
"We can settle this on the ground if you want!" Pitch laughed again. "Go ahead kid, stop wasting your energy."
Jack nodded at Ethan, getting the wind to lower everyone down safely. Ethan collapsed on the ground, breathing heavily. One of Bunny's Easter Eggs took the opportunity to jump on Pitch and squash him flat, but Pitch burrowed into the ground and appeared beside it.
Aidan took the advantage of being on ground to bring every tree he possibly could to life, there was an army of plants. Pitch looked at them in amusement, snapping his fingers as another army of nightmares appeared.
"It's the fear. He's got the whole town afraid. It's enhancing him even more. No way could he be immune to everything." North whispered, looking at the people who were outside, most of them were asleep, with nightmare sand beside them. "Other people have barricaded themselves in their houses, fearing the end of the world, or perhaps the safety of their loved ones."
"So what now? We give them moral support? Tell them it's gonna be all right? We're the good guys and we're gonna save the day?" Jack replied sarcastically. "In case you haven't noticed, Pitch ain't gonna let us go anywhere."
"Sandy might be able to-"
"Make one move and I'll kill you on the spot." Pitch warned. "Ain't no plan B gonna help you now."
