Chapter 35

Merida's POV

Kristoff, North, Rapunzel and I quickly headed back after we acquired the leaves. We took more than one just in case. We have some news to tell the rest, and it's not good news. Thank the wise ones for giving us a warning. At least we'll be prepared for it. Luckily we decided to go to the magical forest!

To our surprise, we weren't the only one with bad news. Jack fainted and is ill right now. Apparently, he had a mental breakdown, or an emotional breakdown.

"Well..." I gulped, this was a bit too much to take in. Too many things happened today.

"Anyway, why the gloomy faces? You guys looked distressed before we even broke the news about Jack to you." Bunny asked.

"The wise ones told us something." Rapunzel replied.

"They gave us a warning." Kristoff continued.

"What?" Eugene asked. Everyone sat a little closer to the four of us.

"Beware, one of you will bring the enemy closer to you... That's what they warned." I said.

Some gasped, some fell silent, some looked at each other, wide eyed.

"The question is, who?" Olaf asked.

"We don't know. In my opinion, the warning indicated that one of us would unintentionally lead the enemy to us. We should make sure that we don't interact with too many people here, to be on the safe side." North stated.

"North has a very good point." Elsa nodded. "We should all be on our guard."

"I don't get it, The Nightmares already know that we're here and we know them as well, what's stopping them from showing right on our doorstep? Why does it require one of us to lead them to us?"  Hiccup asked confusingly. "It's not like we have some magic barrier that's protecting us, preventing them from coming in, right?"

"Hmm... Good point too." Kristoff tapped his chin.

"Unless..." Elsa trailed off.

"Unless?" Anna asked.

"They just can't find our exact location." Elsa said.

"I would disagree on that." Tooth said. "The Nightmares rule this place, they can barge into any building they want. I have a feeling they'll be doing that very soon until they find us."

"We gotta hide somewhere." Olaf said.

"How about underground?" Bunny suggested. "Where those six are?"

"Well, we are a big group, I don't wanna give them trouble. They don't have much room." Elsa argued.

"Elsa, Big Hero 6 told us to call them whenever we need help! They're here to assist in our mission too. We're all in this together." Rapunzel said.

I couldn't take it any longer and slammed my hand on the table, getting everyone to keep quiet. "Why? Why must we run?" I asked. "Even if we do hide, we have to face them eventually. Besides, all of us have powers and whatnots restored now, aren't you all in good shape? We just have to be brave enough to face them. Or have you all forgotten about the test? Our quest?"

"Oh gosh why does everyone have good points!" Eugene ranted.

I cleared my throat. "Well? I wouldn't mind asking some help from Big Hero 6 during our encounter with The Nightmares. But running is not the answer."

A bright light appeared in front of us and GoGo popped out of it. Behind her was Hiro and Wasabi.

"Hey! Good to see you again!" Olaf waved.

"What are you guys doing here?" Rapunzel asked.

"Cause you called us?" GoGo replied.

"You see, before we left, we placed something like a device, like a beacon on you guys. That way, whenever you need help, we'll know it." Hiro explained.

"It's kinda like CCTV. We can listen to your conversations. So we heard you guys talking about us." Wasabi continued.

"CC-what?" Hiccup asked in confusion.

I had the exact same question as Hiccup. What did Wasabi say? I looked at Hiccup, he looked pretty cute when he's confused. God dammit not again Merida, your promised yourself you wouldn't think of such nonsense again. I have tried to avoid thinking about Hiccup as much as possible, I feel that heartbreak again whenever I do so. What more talking to him?

Ever since that night, I promised myself I would never ever have a crush on someone ever again. It's too heartbreaking. Hiccup... My eyes began to water thinking about it. You're not gonna cry here Merida, not in front of everybody. Anna gave me a concerned look.

"Never mind." GoGo rolled her eyes. "Anyway, how can we help you?"

"We've been told that someone would lead the enemy closer to us." I replied. "We can't agree on what to do now."

"Face them?" Wasabi pointed out the obvious. "Come on, you guys need to restore peace to this place."

"Wait, where's the guy in the blue shirt?"  Hiro asked. "Jack, was it?"

"Of course!" Elsa snapped her fingers. "Oh..." She chuckled awkwardly. "Sorry about that. I just remembered that Baymax is a doctor. Jack's sick."

"Oh dear. Hold on, I'll bring Baymax." Hiro said. He pressed a button on his wristband and another ball of light appeared, revealing Baymax. "Hello." Baymax waved to us.

"So, where's Jack right now? Take Baymax to him." GoGo said.

Rapunzel volunteered to go with Baymax. Hopefully her healing magic would work on Jack too.

"How about if we can get you guys a special device?" Wasabi suggested. "Teleportation."

"Where are you going with this?"  GoGo asked.

"Honey Lemon's been working on them and she experimented it on me. It works like a smoke bomb. Throw one ball to the ground and coloured gas is released. At this moment, think of a place that you want to teleport to, and it'll bring you there. I forgot the estimated range. It's not like you can teleport as far as you want. But she's working on it." Wasabi explained.

"Oh I get it." GoGo then turned to us. "It will work very well when you get ambushed."

"It'll be very useful to them." Hiro nodded. "How many has she done?"

"No clue." Wasabi shook his head.

"I'll go talk to her." GoGo said and she vanished in a ball of light. It still amuses me to see them come and go with a blink of the eye.

"In the meantime... Since you said you put some weird thing on us, did you put it on The Nightmares too?" Olaf asked.

"We did, but it malfunctioned three days later. We tried it a couple more times but it didn't work out. I guess they knew it was on them. Pity, it would have been the perfect spy." Hiro replied.

"We'll get that on them someday." Wasabi patted his back.

Rapunzel walked out with Baymax. By the looks of it, they didn't look too happy. At least, Rapunzel wasn't.

"How's Jack?" North asked.

"Well... Baymax said it was unlike any illness he has ever seen." Rapunzel sighed.

"Based on my data, I could not detect the type of disease he had. I am unable to find the cure without knowing the disease first." Baymax replied.

That just made it worse. If Baymax couldn't figure out what was going on with Jack, what's gonna happen to him?

"Maybe it's just because Jack has magic? Maybe something's wrong with his magic." Eugene asked, trying to find some light in the situation.

Can heartbreak be an illness? I began to wonder. Is it so complex that's its undetectable, undiagnosable? If so, will that happen to me too?

"Perhaps." Hiro nodded. "Baymax hasn't exactly been the best at detecting illness related to magic. He's really good at normal ones, but it'll take some work at magical ones."

At this moment, Sandy looked up, like a light bulb just appeared above his head and tapped his chin at the same time. Maybe something gave him a clue about Jack? I wondered.
