Chapter 33
Pitch's POV
Jack thinks that he's actually safe now that he's with all his pals. What. An. Idiot.
I made sure Jack made it out alive, at least Jack, he's much more useful than the rest of the Guardians. Sure, I was knocked out by Sandy and The Nightmares couldn't keep an eye on them, but I laid a trap by making the place come alive for his rescuers. Originally, it was supposed to kill everyone, including the Guardians. But then a much better idea came up.
Since I didn't know who else was present in Alternia, the Guardians would be perfect bait for them. That way, I knew exactly who they were. The rivals of the rest of The Nightmares. All five at the same time, I wasn't expecting that. I thought maybe two or three. Oh well, the more the merrier.
So how did I plan to use Jack? Whilst he was unconscious, when I first caught him, I infected him with my nightmare sand. Slowly but surely it'll spread throughout his whole body. Once it spreads, I'll have complete control of him, he'll be the perfect spy. His cover won't last long though, it's only a matter of time before the nightmare sand changes his appearance, showing signs of him under my control. But once they find out, it'll be too late to reverse the effect. I have to act quick to gather as much information as I could before I make Jack go against his friends. I wanted to do the same with the rest of the Guardians, but I didn't have enough time.
"I'm gonna kill that kid!" Drago slammed his fist on the table. "Look at what he did to me!"
After I informed The Nightmares about the presence of their enemies, Drago went into full rage. Gothel was super mad as well. Hans was very pleased, he was eager for revenge. Mor'du was plotting his too.
"Where is she now?! I have unfinished business!" Gothel demanded, helping herself to her dagger.
"I have a punch to give to Anna." Hans rubbed his hands gleefully.
"And I gotta deal with that arrow girl." Mor'du said. He didn't quite remember the name of his rival.
"Now then, everything must be planned, we do not want to mess this up. None of us want to miss the opportunity to take them down." I cleared my throat.
"All we need is one of them and we can use him or her as hostage." Drago said. "And it better be Hiccup! I'll, I'll... Burn him alive!"
"No way, it better be Rapunzel!" Gothel shouted.
"She's useless to us! At least if we capture Hiccup, he won't be with his dragon." Drago shouted back.
"Shut up to the both of you!" Mor'du slammed the table so hard that I thought it cracked. After all, he has the strength of ten men.
I rolled my eyes and let them continue arguing. There is never a day where we agree on everything. I don't really care, once I get what I want, I'll destroy them. It's taking too much of me not to get rid of them now, they're way too annoying.
"Pitch, when are you gonna use that kid?" Drago asked.
"Soon enough." I said. "The spreading takes time."
"Well, give us the signal whenever we can ambush them." Hans added. "I can't wait."
Rapunzel's POV
We were busy discussing about anything else we may have that could be the key or whatever we had to find. Eugene and I were trying to figure out what represented Corona. Eugene suggested it was me but since we needed an object, I doubt that very much. And I didn't have any flags or Corona with me, darn it.
"Say, maybe we should just go and pluck one of the leaves from that forest. They could glow like the leaves at the gateway." Kristoff spoke up.
"You have a point, since we need something that the gateway can do. That's similar." Bunny nodded.
"Should we go?" Merida asked.
"Just some of us will do." North said.
"Wait what?" Hiccup looked up. "Sorry, I wasn't paying attention."
"We figured maybe one of the leaves from the magic forest could represent the gateway's ability." I explained. "You know, the ones that glow?"
"Glow... Oh!" Hiccup looked around himself for something. "Where is it, where is it, I hope I didn't lose it..." Hiccup pulled out a leaf. All of us instantly recognised it, it was a glowing leaf from the gateway.
"You had one of those the whole time?!" Tooth exclaimed.
"I forgot all about it! It only occurred to me when you said the word glow." Hiccup said.
"Well? Does that solve our problem?" Eugene asked.
"I think we ought to get the leaf from the forest, just in case. We don't know for sure which is the correct one. It's always good to have backup." Merida suggested.
"Whatcha got there?" Anna walked over, her eyes widen when she saw the leaf. "Hey, that's from the gateway! You plucked something too?"
"I wanted to study more about it but I never made it home to do so. Instead, I ended up here." Hiccup shrugged.
"Anyway, I wanted to ask, will a pendant be able to represent home?" Anna asked.
"I think so?" I replied.
"Well, it has Arendelle's symbol." Anna showed us the pendant. "I couldn't think of anything else."
"Maybe. Maybe..." Tooth nodded.
"Huh, maybe Toothless is the symbol of my home!" Hiccup said.
"An object, remember?" Eugene asked.
"Right, right." Hiccup sighed. "I hate riddles."
"Anyway, we should get going before it gets dark." I said.
