Chapter 29
Elsa's POV
I ran back into the restaurant without looking back. I gasped for breath, my mind can't take this much. I've already been through hours in a crystal cave, searching for one that's right, then I encountered a giant cobra, and now, Hiccup confessing his crush to me? This is too much for me!
"Anna, can I talk to you please?" I rushed to her table feeling horribly sick after hearing Hiccup's confession. I wanted to get away from him as far as possible. My mind couldn't stop replaying his words, it's tormenting me!
"Of course!" Anna put her drink down and we walked away. I caught sight of Jack and Merida. She was crying.
"What happened?!" Anna and I asked at the same time.
"I um uh... Merida had a fall!" Jack said, making bombastic gestures which was really weird. "Please, leave us alone for a while."
We nodded and we then found somewhere quiet to talk. "Promise me you won't freak out." I said to Anna.
"I promise, what is it? Are you sick? You look like you just threw up." Anna asked.
"Well... I... I'm not quite sure how to say this, but Hiccup talked to me privately just now. And he... He... He said he liked me." I chocked the words out.
"Oh ok. WAIT WHAT?!" Anna yelled and I quickly covered her mouth.
"I thought you said you promised!" I snapped.
"Sorry! But seriously, what?! He said that to you?!" Anna continued.
"He did, and I'm not quite sure what to do now. " I nodded.
"What else did he say? Just I like you? Oh my gosh I can't believe that!" Anna exclaimed.
"He said he admires me and my powers and has never seen a girl like me and wanted to know what I thought about him." I said, feeling sicker with each word. I really felt like throwing up, but I don't know why, is it because what Hiccup said? Why is it causing me to feel like this?
"Aww he's really crushing on you. What do you think about him?" Anna said cheekily.
"That's the thing. It makes me feel sick. It's just... I don't know, it felt disgusting when he said that. Anna, this the first time anyone has ever said anything like that to me. It's not that I hate Hiccup, but ever since he made that confession made me think differently." I sighed.
"Oh... I know!" Anna hopped around. "It's because my sister likes another person!"
That took me by complete surprise, how did Anna know? It's not like I made my crush on Jack that obvious, right? Or did I? Oh dear what have I done?
"What?" I said, trying to act surprised and make Anna think wrong.
"Seriously Elsa, you know what you did and feel. It's obvious why you feel sick after Hiccup said that cause now he's creeping you out and you have a crush on another person." Anna said as a matter of factly. "Oh my now that explains everything. Oh no..." Anna looked over to Jack and Merida.
"What do you mean? Why are you looking at them? And what makes you think of that?" I asked, still quite amazed that Anna knows.
"Duh! I've seen what you've do. Hey, I'm trying my best not to embarrass you already, wanna make me say the obvious?" Anna rolled her eyes.
"I think you think too much." I rolled my eyes back at her and I walked away.
"You know your feelings best!" I heard Anna.
I decided to go and check on Merida. How bad was her fall? I hope she's ok. But one thing that I failed to mention just now was that Jack's eyes were kinda red. It looked like he was crying too. What happened?
Finally, I found them. They looked much better now, but there's obvious signs that they had cried.
"Hey, are you two ok?" I approached Jack and Merida.
"We're fine, just needed some time alone." Jack said.
"Any serious injuries?" I asked, getting a little closer to Merida but she pushed herself away from me. "Merida? Are you all right?"
"Please... Just leave me alone. Like, really alone. Jack, Elsa, can you please leave?" Merida said, burying her face in her palms. I have never seen Merida like this. Seriously, the fall couldn't have been that bad, could it? Merida is quite tough, she shouldn't be acting like this. Something really, really bad must have happened. And I'm getting the weird feeling that it wasn't just a fall. Or maybe, it wasn't a fall at all. Had Jack lied to me?
We gave Merida some private time and walked away. "Is she all right? How badly did she fall?" I asked Jack.
"She's not physically injured." Jack simply said. I had a weird sense that he didn't want to talk to me, it's like he was avoiding me. Also, he doesn't seem quite like his cheerful self. Of course, I'm not expecting him to be cheerful considering the fact that Merida had a fall, but what I mean is that he just isn't himself.
"Jack, what happened? Whatever happened to Merida must have happened to you as well, you look different." I begged.
"Let's just say we got struck down by bad news." Jack said, avoiding eye contact.
"Would you like to share it? That might be able to make you feel better." I suggested. "I'll be happy to listen to your problems."
I don't know why, but the moment I said that, Jack jerked his head at me and took a small step back. The way he looked at me was rather terrifying. I bravely looked back into his eyes, trying to convince him to share his problem.
"N-No. No, no." Jack shook his head, shivering. "It's... Private and personal."
I wanted to continue asking about his sudden change in behaviour, but I decided I shouldn't push it anymore. Whatever bad news he received must have been really serious to change Jack emotionally. He's so different now. It makes me feel hurt seeing him hurt like this. What happened to him? What happened to Merida? What caused them to both act like this?
"Oh my now that explains everything. Oh no..." Anna's words kept ringing in my mind. But what did she mean?
