Chapter 17

Merida's POV

Tiana's Palace was... Well, a palace! It looked as grand as a palace, it was amazing inside. There were some musicians performing on stage, one of them had the costume of an alligator on. Although to me, it looked awfully real.

"Well hello there!" A girl with brown skin and black hair, roughly the age of Rapunzel, came to us. "Welcome, I'm Tiana. There'll be plenty of time for introductions later, please have a seat first. Your friends are waiting for you."

We were separated to two large tables. Lucky me, I got to sit right beside Hiccup. Hooray! I can't stop myself from looking and thinking about him. Seriously, what's coming over me? I gotta stop.

Other than us were Cleo, Darrel, Rapunzel, Eugene, North, Sandy and Olaf. The rest were seated at the other table.

"So, I trust that the wise ones have gave you the information you need?" Cleo turned to me.

"Yes, it's a riddle that we need to solve." I nodded.

"We'll be happy to assist you in anything." Darrel said.

"Well, you could." I pointed to Hiccup's book. "We need access to your school library to activate this book."

"We were informed that anything illogical in your world doesn't exist, Elsa, Olaf, Jack, North, Sandy, Tooth, Bunny, Eugene... Did I miss anyone else, Merida?" Hiccup asked.

I was stunned that I couldn't say a word. Oh my lord, he's actually asking me a question. He's looking, and talking to me! "Um..." I pretended to count the people. "No, that's all."

"They have magic, or magic is what keeps them alive, and now the wise ones told us that they are going to lose their magic, some are going to die. And they said that dragons don't exist too, Toothless is gonna disappear as well! So, this book is said to have the answers to solve the problem." Hiccup continued.

"Yes, it most certainly does." Darrel nodded. "We have had this situation all the time. Remember, Cleo? The first time it happened, it was a total mess."

"Back in the days..." Cleo smiled. "We'll bring you there first thing in the morning tomorrow. But I suggest that not all of you go at once, you'll attract way too much attention. You wouldn't want to let The Nightmares know of your presence. Aidan knows exactly where in the library to activate the book so he'll be your guide."

"Do you know roughly how much time we have until reality completely catches up?" Hiccup asked.

"No, everyone has different timing. When the symptoms get worse and more frequently, that's when you'll know the little amount of time left. You need to be restored as soon as possible." Cleo replied.

"Once we activate the book, what will happen?" I asked.

"Oh, you'll see." Cleo and Darrel shared a smile.

Jack's POV

That was the best meal I had ever had! After that, Tiana and Naveed joined us and we soon got into a long conversation. They shared their times when they first came to Alternia, the challenges they had to face, their quest to form their key and facing their rivals.

It was a little bit boring if you ask me, it's like a meeting. Sure, I had my questions to ask but as you know me, I get bored. Finally, I decided to stand up. "I think I'm going to take a walk outside."

The rest just nodded and paid attention back to Tiana and Naveed. I grabbed my staff, stuffed my other hand in my hoodie pocket and went out. There was a nice chilly breeze outside. I flew up to the rooftop of Tiana's Palace and looked up to the moon. It was big and it was bright.

"Manny, are you here with us? Is that really you, or do you not exist in this world like us?" I asked, not that I was expecting a reply. "... Soon,"  I said to myself. "I might lose the ability to fly, to create ice and snow, to withstand cold, to be... Alive. Manny, please help us in our quest."

I hopped off the roof and took a flight around town. Isabelle, Ethan and Aidan had explained earlier on why the town looked so deserted. It was because of The Nightmares, they inflicted so much terror here, everyone was fearful of them and some locked themselves indoors. They fear that newcomers like us are a part of them. That explains why the shopkeeper fainted earlier today. I couldn't be any more grateful for these five who accept us for who we are and are willing to help us.

I was in front of Alternia High School. Now with my mind cleared, I think I should head back to Tiana's Palace. Don't wanna miss out on too much information. I was just about to take off again when...

"Jack Frost?" I heard a voice and I immediately blacked out.
