Searching For Player...

Jack's POV

"Hey, (Y/N)'s username is (U/N). Jesse's should be JesseKake."

I said, remembering what the scientists had said before 'logging us in'. Screens appeared in front of Felix and Mark, each searching the world for the two girls. Mark spoke up first.

"It says Jesse should be in the The Xyfohl Snow Fields according to the server."

We turned to Felix, only he was looking at us.

"The server can't find her."

My eyes widen and I open my own screen. I quickly type in (Y/N)'s username, waiting for an answer:

Searching for player...

Searching...

Searching...

Pla҉͎̥yer noṯ̢̺̗̗ foun̞ͅd.

I shake my head and try again, getting the same result.

"That can't be possible. (Y/N) should be here!"

Mark and Felix just kept thinking, nothing made sense. Something must be wrong with the system. We all opened our mouths to say something when our screens suddenly turned on.

<The server is experiencing technical difficulties>

<Please excuse us as we fix the problems>

I was just about to complain when everything around me started glitching. Large pixels of random colors and static surrounded me and blocked my vision. I screamed, falling backwards and onto the floor. Suddenly the pixels turned into a picture.

A dark hallway. The walls made of stone slabs, like the old castles back in Ireland. The picture moved as if I were playing a game, moving down the hall and to a large wooden door. I opened the door, leading to an even darker room. The sound of moving chains, the clinking and crashing echoed in my ears. My ears scanned the room, it seemed to be a completely stone room. No windows and it appeared the only way out or in was through the door. The clinking of moving chains got louder, clouding my thoughts and paining my ears.

I shot up with a start. I was... in a bed?

"Jack! You're awake!"

"Man you really gave us a scare!"

"W-what?"

I covered my ears with my hands, groaning as the loud clanks still rung loudly in my ears. I felt the bed dip twice.

"Dude are you alright?"

"I had this... dream? No.. more of a vision."

Mark and Felix looked at me blankly, then a light going on in their mind.

"Was this when all the glitches happened?"

I nodded and explained the 'vision'. The ringing had subsided, but was still there like a quiet tone of white noise. We brushed it off and realized I had changed clothes. A dark grey flared long-sleeve with green lining and grey line decor. My pants were similar with silver spirals holding the two guns made of a dark silver. A strap ran across my chest holding reloads that were decorated like septic eyes. Mark's eyes twinkled as he stared at my guns.

"I know, right? So cool!"

Mark held up a waftstache hilt that was and auburn red-ish brown leather handle. He seemed to press a button, the small red gem at the tip glowing and the blade suddenly bursting out. Wisps of pink light streamed from the pink mustache and swirled around the red-lit blade.

"It's awesome! When I level up I can upgrade it for different modes!"

Felix decided to show off his weapon as well. A blue metal pole with sliver studded ends encasing light blue jewels. Three larger jewels glowed and floated a small bit away from the wand. He aimed me and the gems glowed brighter and a brofist started to materialize, making me panic.

"Felix what the hell are you--"

The brofist shot towards me, but that made the ringing stop. I looked to Mark and Felix, who were laughing.

"He learned healing spells! You thought he would hurt you?"

I shrugged, then got up and went to the door.

"So, off to those snowy fields, eh?"

They nodded, and we exited the small house to the streets. By the looks of it from the sun, it was high noon. NPC's were running around, each seeming to have their own job and personality. We exited the clothing store when a little girl started pulling at my shirt. I looked at her, she was looking back with tears. I keeled down and asked her what's wrong.

"M-My balloon got s-stuck in a t-tree."

I looked to Mark and Felix, they gave a little nod. I let the little girl take my hand and lead me to a tall tree, quickly spotting the small balloon near the top branch. I felt hands on my shoulders.

"Don't even think about climbing up that tree."

I shake them off, turning around to roll my eyes at my friends.

"I'm not. I'm gonna try something."

"Jack that's never a good idea."

"Just trust me!"

I could see the uncertainty in their eyes, but they hesitantly nodded. I made sure everyone was a safe distance away before pulling out my guns. I point the barrels to the floor and click a small button I had noticed before. I pressed the trigger and went flying into the air!

"JACK!"

I heard Mark and Felix scream, but I was able to get shot up to grab onto a branch next to the balloon. I pull myself onto the branch, sitting on it as I tie the string around my wrist. I picked my guns back up and looked to the modes.

bullet, boost, grapple, and a few more in the cycle.

"Nice."

I say to myself. I switched to grapple and took aim at a think branch. I fired and the claw snapped out to grab it. I jumped off and swung towards the ground and made it safely. As I rewound the grapple, I went over to the kid.

"Here, I'll tie it. Don't want to lose it again."

I smiled as she did, tying the string around her small wrist. As she ran away, Mark and Felix came over. Felix looked excited and shocked while Mark looked disapproving.

"That was awesome! How did you know how to do that?!"

"Well I just went with my guts-"

"And that could have failed."

I couldn't help but glare slightly.

"Well it didn't!"

"Did you forget that you die in real life too?!"

"No, who do you think I am?!"

Felix barged between us.

"Would you two stop yelling?!"

"Shut up you fucking hypocrite!"

The Swede glared at the American.

"So what?! Jack was doing a good thing!"

"He could have killed himself!"

Mark glared at me, his warm brown eyes seeming a bit more... red?

I looked to Felix, his soft blue eyes seeming a bit darker as he glared at Mark.

"He didn't, okay?!"

"But he could have! He would have died for nothing!"

"It may seem like nothing, but it obviously meant something!"

I rubbed my head as a headache started pooling in. Their arguing wasn't helping anything.

"G-guys..."

They didn't hear me, the splitting headache growing worse.

~

Jack tried again, quietly telling them to stop. Anger quickly pent up in him for a reason he did not know.

"GUYS!!"

Mark and Felix turned to him, their glares quickly turning into fearful stares.

Jack was glaring with bright green eyes, blood leaking from the corners of his eyes.

"J-Jack?"

He blinked, his eyes turning a lesser green. The Irishman screamed before falling to the floor. Before Mark and Felix could get to him, he disappeared into a puddle of blood.

~

My eyes slowly opened, a grey sky. Clouds blending into the bland sky, a single bird flew. I can't feel my own body. It's... cold. That's when I realize my body is numb because of the snow! What happened? I only remembered Felix and Mark arguing, the rest was hazy. I slowly regained myself, but I was weak and stiff. I was able to sit up and look around. Hills of white with dark trees. I opened up my screen and checked my location.

The Xyfohl Snow Fields

I'm here! So where's Jesse?

I got myself standing, then noticed three small rectangles that stayed just in my line of vision even when I closed the screen. I pressed on them and they grew a small bit larger.

Saladass: Mage: LV 1

HP [0000000000]

MP [0000000000]

BUMBUM: Swordsman: LV 1

HP [0000000000]

MP [0000000000]

BooperDooper: Shooter: LV 1

HP [00000000\\]

MP [0000000000]

I'm at 80% HP? Why?

Just as I asked myself that, I heard something behind me. I turned, only for my eyes to widen.

A pack of vicious-looking wolves. Rectangles appeared over each of them.

Snow Wolf

[000000]

How would I beat all of them?! I pulled out my guns and put them to 'bullet' mode. Quickly moving, I started shooting at them, easily killing one. As I killed another, one bit my leg and I had to bash it on the skull with the barrel to get it off.

[000000\\\\]

It kept happening. When I hit or killed one, another would come and attack me. I got to a point to where they were three feet away, and I was badly bleeding.

[00\\\\\\\\]

I was on the verge of passing out, the wolves inching closer.

Suddenly a roar ripped through the howling wind.

A large animal figure pounced in front of me between the wolves. It was white and spotted. I could only lay there as my blood loss took away more HP.

[0\\\\\\\\\]

My vision grew blotchy as the animal killed all of the wolves. It slowly made it's way towards me, glowing stone-grey eyes stared at me and was the last thing I saw...
