I took the marker and turned to the case board.

"Trishana hariprasad"

Karan read slowly as I write.

"Is she our new case?" his eyes popped out.

"What's wrong with your expression?it's not like you have never done this"

"But she's a reporter who is dead set on getting revenge on surya group! I can't even imagine her as our target"

"She was, But now she's kicked out of her broadcasting station, the mic is taken out of her hands"

"Why her then?"

"Because she's the only link to finding others now, Shahid, Varsha and the other nameless guys"

"I..um..I don't feel good about this"

"What?"

"Our last two targets...ended up dead"

"Ajith roy was going to be murdered by father because of his works, We only did our job there, And shahid was shot but he survived"

"I feel that whoever it is we are targeting is going to get murdered"

I looked at him.

"So you don't want to do this job?"

"I will feel responsible and guilty if something happened to her too, I used to watch her news, She's good"

"We are not going to do anything illegal" I assured him"But if you are still worried, I can give you some time"

"No!" he said quickly "I don't want to stay away"

"Let me think about this, karan, You were feeling restless lately"

"No sir, Whatever is the case, I want to stick with you"

"Then focus on her, Don't leave anything" I said.

"Okay sir"

I parked my car and moved to the police station.

"Can I meet Mr.suresh kumar please?" I requested and waited there.

It was karthik who wanted me to do this.

When I told them that I am planning to publish my magazine and start the real fight with surya group, He told me something that I haven't thought about so far.

So ten minutes later I was sitting in front of his dad-The only officer we trust now.

"Miss Trishana" He nodded "it's nice to meet you" he said and I raised my eyebrows in surprise.

"You know me?" I asked him as I corrected the glasses on my nose.

"I miss your news reports" he smiled and my heart swelled with pride.

He knew me!he recognised me because of my reports!

"I saw your report on surya ice factory" he stated "It was brave of you to report that" he added.

I smiled.

"But I didn't see you after that interview with Shahid khan" He said "I am currently working on that case, I was going to contact you" He said.

"I will help you meet with him,Sir" I said "But I am working on a new story now" I said slowly.

"I don't understand" He said.

"Actually...I am afraid that I will offend surya group again.." I said "I..er..wants to file a complaint against surya group" I said.

"You have something on them?" he asked me and I shook my head.

"Sadly,no" I told him "but I feel like my life is endangered because of them, If something happens to me, Any accident or you know..um..so I want surya group to be questioned first, I am feeling threatened because of them" I stopped.

"I understand what you mean" suresh nodded "But you do realise that these measures are temporary right? If you are intending to fight them, you need to make sure that you are safe first, Try not to provoke them"

"Unfortunately, I Am a reporter sir, It's my job to bring them to justice"

"It's your job to report the facts, ms, You can depend on the police for further help, I assure you that as long as we have enough evidence on them, I Am more than willing to arrest them myself" he said.
And I looked at him.

Karthik take after his father, he's a honest upright police officer, No wonder he tried to report varsha and shahid.

"I will keep that in mind, Thank you so much sir"

"It's my pleasure to help you" He nodded.

"Then I will ask you another favour" I said slowly "You remember the last case where mahesh was aquitted?" I asked him

"Yea, The victim changed her statement at the last trial, I remember it" he said

"I tried to visit her family, But they are missing" I said "The neighbours said they left after the trial was over, I Am worried about them" I said.

"You suspect surya group behind their disappearance?" He asked me.

I nodded.

"I personally talked to maya just before her trial, She was firm and she wanted to sue mahesh, But at the court, She changed her statement, I think she has been blackmailed" I said

"I understand, I will look into it closely" He said "But as long as there is no FIR filed, We can't have an open investigation" He said.

"I know" I said "I will look for evidences too" I promised and stretched out my new business card.

"This is my address, You can find me here" I said.

"New place?" He looked surprised.

"I resigned from truth Tv" I said "I have started the magazine truth again in the old place again"

"All the best trishana, I am sure that you will succeed" He said.

Mahesh.

"Thomas mathew?" I asked "Why are you calling me?"

"I have news from the city police station, Trishana visited officer suresh kumar today" He said.

The name itself got me irritated.

"What did she want?" I asked.

"She was talking about Maya case, That's Why I called you"He said.

What the hell!

I have undergone the trial and already acquitted! Why is she still not giving up? Even maya gave up on herself!

"I understand" I said and disconnected the call.

If she brought up the case again, I will be at disadvantage, I can't underestimate her, She has already turned around varsha-shahid situation causing the police to drop the charges and turning the people against the police who tried to arrest her.

I dialled nakulan.

"Hello sir?"

"Nakulan, Get ready, You have something to take care of" I said.

Father will be against this, I will talk to him once I get hold of her.

Even though it was Saturday evening, I was still working on the failed acquisition of latest fashion world.

"Do we have any news on Mr.Abraham?" I asked karan.

"We don't, He's still hiding" He said.

"Keep an eye out, We need to find him before the others"I said.

"I still don't understand why we should try to find him" He said "It will put us in disadvantage if your father know about this"

"He doesn't have to know-" I said and stopped when I heard the commotion from outside.

"What's it?" I looked up at karan.

"Let me look" he said as he moved outside and appeared back in five minutes.

"Nakulan has brought someone here on mahesh's demand" Karan said.

What!?

I moved out of my chair and walked out.

Nakulan, mahesh's private goon was bringing a struggling girl inside like she she's a piece of paper and Everyone else was watching it.

"Let me go!" The girl was struggling too much.

"Sir! That's trishana, the reporter-" karan stopped as I raised my hands,Stopping him.

I am furious now.

It was always Abiram who usually do things like this, I need to get some sense into mahesh today.

I opened the conference room where the heated discussions were already going on.

"-Then do you want me to do nothing while she was creating trouble like that!?" mahesh looked angry.

"But narayan sir will be angry about this" ragav sir,father's PA said. "He's outside now, if he know about this-"

"He don't have to know about this" mahesh growled "I will take care of her quietly, no one need to know"

"Stop with your nonsense, Mahesh, And let her go, Now!" I said

"How dare you talk to me-"

"Frankly, I think it's easier to take care of her this way" Abiram said "She keeps on getting in our way"

"No one will find out what happened to her, It will look like she disappeared from earth" Mahesh said.

And I took a step forward.

"You don't understand" I said angrily "She just have a complaint filed against you, stating that, If something happened to her, She wants you to be the prime suspect" I stopped.

The room engulfed in silence.

"How the hell did you know about this!?" Mahesh looked at me.

"I have informants, Mahesh, And you forgot that she's my case!" I said "If you do this now, It will not be like Nandana or Maya, It will blow up big, It will be out of our hands" I said.

"That bitch!"He growled "she had the nerve to lodge a complaint against me!?" he looked furious now.

"She's not our usual person!" Abiram said thoughtfully "We have to take care of her carefully" he said.

I turned to them "Let her go now" I said "Father won't be too happy if he know about this" I told mahesh "He told you to stay put after Maya's trial"

"You don't have to lecture me, Arjun, I will just have a word with her and let her leave" He walked out of the room and banged the door with unnecessary force.

So I walked back to the surveillance room.

"Out of here" I ordered and the people taking watch quickly moved out.

"Tell karan to come here" I said before they left.

I focused the screen on her room and it enlarged, Showing the room she was locked up.

I looked around the windowless dark room.

They even have a jail room build inside to hold hostages.

I was really getting panicked, but I refused to let the fear control me.

Mahesh is a womaniser, If he gets me,he will...no! I won't allow it.

I will fight till my last breath.

Suddenly the lights came and I looked around the windowless room with only a cctv.

There's no way to escape.

I need to do something.

I heard people's sound coming my way and I held my breath.

I pulled the sharp hair clip out of my hair and gripped it tightly.

They unlocked my door and I stayed facing the door.

Mahesh stepped to the room.

"Did you wait for me long?" He asked me and I took a step back from him.

"Stop right there" I said, raising the hair clip.

"What! Are you going to attack us with that?" He said and laughter erupted around me.

Mahesh and his private goons were blocking the door.

My heart felt like it will burst any moment.

"No, I won't fight you" I said slowly "I am not stupid enough to try that" I said.

Mahesh nodded "You are realistic" he took a step forward and I took another step backward "I like that about you" he said.

I brought the hair clip to the wrist of my left hand "But if you touch me, I will hurt myself" I said steadily, Trying to sound confident "you see, I have just filed a complaint against you, If something happen to me, You will be held responsible" I said firmly, praying that he would believe what i'm saying.

If he don't believe that, I know, I'm doomed.

His eyes narrowed.

"Are you threatening me?" he took another step and I slashed my wrist with the clip.

Blood splashed out as I looked steadily back at a shocked Mahesh, Who was frozen in his spot.

"Do you believe me now?" I asked "if you don't, you can go and check at the police station, You will have enough watch dogs there, if something happened to me, Mahesh, you will be doomed" I said.

And everyone in the room stilled.

The blood was still flowing down the floor and mahesh looked indecisive.

"Opening up your wrist will not do any harm-No!" He shouted angrily as I raised the hair clip to my neck, In level with my carotid artery.

"I don't want to die, Mahesh" I said again "but if I die here today, remember, You will die with me" I said as I looked him in the eyes.

"You bitch.."

"Just wait, Mahesh, Even if I die today, There are others who will bring down the surya group, I have enough evidence on Abiram and you , I will get my revenge even if I die here today" I said in a cold voice that sounded hounded to my own ears.

"your cursed law firm and that evil lawyer of yours; Varun, He will get his share for ruining all those people" I said "I have made sure of it" I stopped.

Then looked at the door which was still blocked by his men.

"I don't have much time, If you don't move out of my way now, I will kill myself here" I said "three.."I counted

"Two.."

"Wait" Mahesh said "You can leave, Nobody will stop you" He said and leaned slightly to me "for today, Trishana" he said "I will get hold of you very soon"

"Out of my way" I said as I started to feel the weakness, My blood was still slowly flowing down all over the floor.

"Move back" Mahesh ordered and all his private goons moved to both sides, allowing me to exit.

So I moved out of the room.

All the way out of the building, Their people were watching me.

As soon as I was outside, I pressed on my cut and started to run out.

Arjun.

I was frozen in my spot as I watched her run out of the main gate.

"And that cursed law firm,and the evil lawyer Varun, He will get his share for ruining all those people.."

Her sound echoed around me.

I know that it's not varun who is the mastermind of all those cases, It's me

karan opened the door.

"Sir, Did you call for me?" he asked me and I took my eyes from the monitor.

"Trishana just exited the building" I said robotically, "Follow her and see that she's safe" I said and karan raised his eyebrows in surprise.

"She's injured and if something happened to her, We will have a hell lot of paperworks to do" I said "And from today onwards, Your duty is to watch her 24/7" I added.

"What! I can't do that-"

"Yes you can" I said firmly "join her company and keep watch of her" I said.

"But sir-"

"Hurry, karan and report to me where she is" I ordered.

Trishana.

I tried my best to control my tears, but it just seemed impossible.

My whole system is shaken and it feels like I have no more control over my emotions.

It was dark, but I started to run through the darkness, putting as much distance between me and the surya group headquarters.

I had no phone, purse or any means of communication with me, Mahesh's people had kidnapped me on my way from office.

I felt exhausted and weak physically and mentally.

A little more...you can't give up now...a little more and you can ask for help.

I pushed my legs to take me forward.

Suddenly there was a screech and a car halted beside me.

"Are you alright,ma'am?-wait! You are that reporter" the guy said "I am a big fan of yours ma'am!" he said and I looked at his friendly face.

"You...you look hurt and oh my God!You are bleeding-"

"Help me..help me get to the town please" I said, now trying to fight the dizziness.

"Let me take you to the hospital ma'am!" the guy opened his car door for me "what happened to you-"

"Thank..you" I said as I slumped to the passenger seat "I..had a small accident, it's nothing" I said as I closed my eyes and leaned to the seat.

"Can...can I have your phone,Mr..?"

"Karan, madam" He told me his name "Of course, you can have my phone, here" he said and I took it from him.

I was starting to have double vision and dizziness as I dialed nikil with my shaking fingers.

"Just hold on, I will take you to the nearest-"

"Not...not surya hospital..take me to the city hospital please.." I said with effort.

"Hello?" nitin attended the call.

"Nitin, Meet me at city hospital please" I said.

He was asking me a hundred questions and I could hear his worry, but I know I can't answer him through phone.

"I Am safe, nitin,Iam..with..karan..in a...red Range rover, Number....."I gave him all the details and disconnected.

"I am sorry" I looked at karan "it's not that I don't trust you,I..I don't want you to be in danger-"

"Dont worry" he said quickly "I can understand, don't talk and waste your energy, Take rest while I drive"

I closed the file as I heard my phone ringing.

"Karan?" I attended the call "is she safe?" I asked him.

"We are at the city hospital, They are stitching her up" he said "her reporter friend is also here" he said.

"Why did you take her to the city hospital when our hospital was nearby?"

"She insisted to go there" Karan said "Sir, She's okay now, but her doctor want her to stay here for today" he said.

That's Good!

"Karan, Did your report have the details on her house?" I asked, turning the pages of the files he had submitted before, And stopped when I saw it.

"Yes,it's there...wait a minute! What are you going to do sir?" he asked me.

"Since she's staying at the hospital-"

"Don't!" karan cut across me "It's against our rule! We don't get involved in the cases directly, remember, We only give them informations"

"Then do you have a faster way to get the details on the other guys?" I asked him back "Don't worry about me and search for shahid's daughter and ceo Abraham, We have to find them as soon as possible"

"But sir-"

"It's an order, karan"

So after disconnecting the call, I took my car keys and walked out of the office room.

Trishana is a journalist and there will be something in her home pointing at others.

This is my golden chance to search her house.

I started my car.
