it is with utmost regret that LIEM introduces arguably the most threatening individual to the solitary of humanity. taking this into account, this will provide a brief analysis of the personality of the famed affan t'krusskyo, one that is shrouded in mystery and only told in theories put forth by our trans-planetary research grounds from ursa minor.

affan's renowned authoritarian tactics were inherited from his father and know no mercy. he has spent centuries mastering every facet of propaganda and mind-control to forge the idea of a utopia as stipulated by the creator of the empire: a peak-efficiency world devoid of independent thought, where every living thing serves it purpose, breeds, and is promptly discarded. he does not care for freedom, nor the liberties of those he promises to lead. he wants his people to consume. to obey. to be content in their chains so that he is praised as the savior of the subdued. no dictator can truly concede without the consent of the governed, be it willful or not.

however, he is not the most social, though he tends to ramble when he talks. affan prefers to stay within his own space and think for hours on end, conceiving elaborate schemes to achieve his desired end. he's extremely cynical and sarcastic, and tends to become acerbic with those who irritate him. by extension, his nature is one of almost obsessive suspicion, especially when detecting a lie or an attempt to manipulate. no one has succeeded in assassinating him or tricking him into complying with a treaty or agreement which would not benefit his regime. in many cases, he has preserved antohos sovereignty merely by abiding to his own instincts, which is why he is known to be a good evaluator of the character of others.

it is also worth noting that throughout observation of affan, LIEM has found him to be quite planful, organized, and goal-oriented. he is focused and hates improvising, creativity is the least of his concerns and is unnecessary within anothos society. the cold-hearted, relentless supreme leader is one who wants to see competence and progress, and will crush anything or anyone who gets in his way or defies his will. for him to be warm-hearted is simply not in his nature, at least from what we've observed thus far. 

but in the human world, he is still dangerous nonetheless. all anothos are known for their ability to manipulate, and like many he has undergone missionary training in order to spread their propaganda. tread carefully and be sure to not follow his requests. the human advantage is evident: on earth, he is no dictator. 

𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊𝐆𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐃

affan t'krusskyo is the son of the former supreme leader of phervatz xvi, an anothos colony on the outer reaches of a galaxy important to commerce between empires. it is noted for its vast markets that span entire planets, the high merchant traffic where a myriad of diverse spaceships and species could be found, and the exotic findings that make it the greatest one-stop shop in the universe. it's also worth mentioning that the worst criminals in history have been situated on the very planet that affan rules over in a vast, floating prison on the edge of its atmosphere. no one has escaped it to date.

affan grew up during the war and had not directly participated in it; rather, he was told to focus on missionary education with battles being turned into lessons in military tactics. the anothos equivalent of his 'mother,' the former leader, taught him most everything he knew in diplomacy and in force. although , like him, she never had the luxury of leading the entire empire (a title reserved for the emperor of the anothos) she secured control of their galaxy in their name. so when the destruction of the home planets was commanded by the emperor and he called upon affan's mother to agree to it, she obliged without question. he was not aware that it had occurred until after the news reached him via a hologram, and was quite horrified to hear that the anothos had vaporized the planets of origin for three empires in a matter of minutes. 

toward the end of the war, the former supreme leader, the general, and many complicit in this wanton violence were thrown into the prison or executed (the latter of the case of his mother), and its ownership was forcibly handed to LIEM. as such, affan no longer can control the prison on phervatz xvi, but presides over the rest of the planet. it is said that since then, he is no more than shell of his former self, a dramatic leader on the outside with naught but resentment to carry. 

additionally, he was forced by LIEM to hold the contest shortly after being named supreme leader. while the anothos civilization is flourishing, as their home planet was the only one that wasn't destroyed due to it being effectively hidden from enemies, they have infiltrated earth since the mid-1700s, when he was but a child. with their early colonization claims, it is only fair under intergalactic law that they join. affan is here to ensure accountability among his species, but has an invisible blaster to his throat; if something goes wrong, the son of a murderer will face the same fate.

𝐇𝐎𝐖 𝐓𝐎 𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐄

the best way to kill an anothos while they're shapeshifted is to subject them to immense amounts of heat and cause what is known as the 'wax phenomenon.'  in this, the skin comprising their outward form melts off to reveal their real appearance underneath. this, once subjected to fire or even just an extremely hot day, has a low boiling point and will begin to vaporize in short order, resulting in a rather painful and graphic death. it's often not as messy as other elimination tactics, as usually nothing is left behind but a skeleton. LIEM crew members have purchased human flamethrowers just in case, but will only use this tactic as a last resort.

"i dislike [humans]. they're petty, feeble, obnoxious. i could hit one's head against a wall and it'd die, it's strange that they survived this long, isn't it? earth is a disgusting planet, it's the slum of the galaxy. their evolution clearly took a wrong turn, but not to worry. consume, consume, consume...that's all those rabid beasts do. our missionaries will make quick order of them."

"not in the slightest, no. but i must admit, i do like the noise the small, orange one makes. it has smooth edges, they like to rest it on their shoulders, and they rub animal hairs against it?"

"yes, those. they're the only positive i see with human music. the most popular ones so disgustingly formulaic, i'd expect it to be a kasa'avid creation. and the less popular ones are too creative, too strange for my liking. luckily, our researchers found out how to recreate the sound that maximizes human pleasure. we will dispatch missionaries shortly."

hugo is your stereotypical emotional, nihilistic french man. since affan only accustomed himself to french culture by watching american movies about french people, his characterization is somewhat problematic. him being unfriendly and snobbish? that's not part of the act, that's an extension of his genuine personality. but the whole him going around wearing berets and striped v-necks, smoking, drinking wine—all of that culminates to a terrible impersonation of what it means to live in the romanticized république française. 

he lives in an extraordinary intensity, perhaps bipolarity. he's over-dramatic but can sometimes get bitter and commanding if he has to keep up his act while tired. being a director is the closest thing in the entertainment industry to being a dictator, so expect him to bark orders, blatantly criticize and embarrass those around him, and live in a constant state of exasperation. affan hates having to be imaginative or come up with novel ideas, but hugo is a lover of the abstract, the surreal, anything that bends the minds of those pathetic humans and entertains them in a different way. movies can be seen as a form of mind-control in and of themselves, and he's known for the mesmerizing cinematography that helps him get his two messages across: conform to anothos society. accept anothos rule. 

however, hugo is also exceptionally flirtatious, using missionary tactics to get information out of humans who are more easily seduced. he can dial up the charm on a whim and has a mysterious air about him that elicits intrigue in others. with his accent, his looks, and his silver-tongued prowess most can't resist. humans are an easy species to understand, and it'd be silly not to exploit it.

𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊𝐆𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐃

oh, this ones a ride. affan had his advisors come up with an elaborate sob-story to further his popularity. from compiling pop culture, dramatic films, books, and what would appeal to human sympathy most profoundly, they tried their best:

hugo was born in a run-down hospital on november 4th, 1994. his mother died shortly thereafter in a freak car accident, leaving him alone with his father. however, a few years later, he found himself with a new stepmother, one far worse than before. she was cruel, verbally and physically abusive, preferring to look after herself and ignore the obligations that came with taking care of a child. after his father died as well from a heart attack, she refused to think of him as her own. so he was subsequently put up for adoption, and a new family took him in, aiding him in cultivating a love for all things related to cinema. as it provided an escape from the tragedies of his life, he soon grew to want to make elaborate stories of his own. hugo started with small independent films, but eventually became widely known as the famous director he is today.

of course, to tie up the lose ends pertaining to his new family, the anothos have actually deployed his own advisors to pretend to be his mother and father. it's an awkward situation to say the least.

𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖𝐍 𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄𝐒

→ cars. affan LOVES just about anything with a wheel and an engine.  the sounds and smells of awesome machinery, doing what they do couldn't be matched by many other things in life. he knows every stat on every car worth knowing about: HP, torque, acceleration time, top speed, and has subscriptions to just about every car magazine in europe. his secondary priority is always to own and drive the best vehicles he can find.

→ abstract art. as much as he claims to hate human art, he will sit and stare at contemporary pieces that consist solely of random splotches of paint, adamant that there's some deeper meaning he can't find out.

→ children. a soft spot, perhaps? LIEM doesn't know, but for some reason or another, affan finds something endearing about human children and their innocence. his childhood was far more troubled than theirs.

→  shoes, another weird obsession of his. he collect high heels, platform sandals, just about anything. he never wears the majority of them; he just likes to keep buying as many possible.  occasionally affan will try to steal shoes he really likes, so another anothos has to be around  whenever he goes shopping.

→ chocolate. a bit of chocolate will get affan on your good side, it's one of the few notable human inventions and even it isn't found on the merchant ships of the phervatz galaxy. something so exotic and luxurious as it should be indulged in.

→ smoking. it's especially nice since anothos lungs function differently, so he doesn't have to worry about his health. 

𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖𝐍 𝐃𝐈𝐒𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄𝐒

→ the heat, quite obviously. he hates bonfires, he hates deserts, he hates any environment where he can get excessively hot and sweaty. as most anothos are prone to melting, he's no different. 

→ dancing. affan does not understand what evolutionary benefit is to be reaped by dancing but he despises it. he can't dance at all and has no concept of rhythm whatsoever. it's a good thing that he hadn't been entered as a performer, because that very well could have been an absolute  disaster. 

→ ailena. the human host infuriates him to no end and sometimes he just wants to throw her into the vacuum of space so he could get some peace and quiet. perhaps it's only because she's human or because she's just so happy and positive that it disgusts him to no end, but affan does not want anything to do with her. 

→ kissing. the fact that affan does not have lips in his true form makes it so unfamiliar and awkward when trying to speak using sounds that require said lips are already uncomfortable enough. he's not yet used to the feeling and it makes his nonexistent skin crawl.

→ bugs. why do bugs have to exist? seeing something as small as a fly will send him flailing to the other side of the room, and don't get him started on spiders and wasps.
