Chapter 20: Real Heroes

"I thought you didn't make deals with villains," Richard taunted them.

"We're not making a deal. You're going to tell us where they are without hesitation," Wilbur replied.

"How are you going to do that exactly?" Richard asked.

"Like this. Tell us where the rest of the people you kidnapped are," Penny demanded as she looked straight into his eyes.

"Ha! That won't work on me," Richard retorted.

"He can stop a person's powers if he looks at them," Wilbur explained.

"That's sort of why I left you in his care. Just in case," Mr. Forrester admitted sheepishly.

"In case I was a super?" Penny asked him.

"Wait, before we go on, Mr. Forrester, are you a super?" Hiro asked him.

"Well, sort of," he replied.

"Sort of?" Penny repeated.

"We'll have time to go over everything once we're safe and away from certain company," Mr. Forrester replied.

"Maybe not you, but there are four more possible candidates," Penny replied once she turned to look at Richard again.

"Good luck with that," Richard retorted.

Violet threw a force field at him knocking him out.

"Violet!" Her mother reprimanded her.

"What? It's not like he was going to talk anyways," Violet replied.

Penny walked over to Yokai and demanded him to reply.

"I don't know the exact location. Syndrome is the only one that knows," Yokai replied.

Dr. Calico tried to hit him to stop him from saying anything but Penny made him stop.

"Let him talk," she told Calico.

"Tell us what you know," Penny told him.

"Syndrome kept the others on a separate island in case this one was found. He said the code word to get there is 'Titans'."

The red lights lights turned back on after he was finished.

"What's going on?" Mr. Forrester asked.

"The clock is ticking again!" Hiro replied as he looked at a hologram of Syndrome's computer.

"But everyone is out already!" Violet reminded them.

"Haven't you learned? I'm always one step ahead," both Syndromes snickered.

The rest of the supers stood together, unsure of what to do. Their suits started beeping and a red light glowed from the middle of their chests. Suddenly, a claw came out of a cell and grabbed one of the supers.

"Cora!" A boy yelled.

"Astro!" the girl called.

His feet became rockets as he flew toward the claw, but he was too late and the claw retracted into a room. The doors closed just as he got there. He punched a hole into the door, but it was empty.

Another claw came out and tried to snatch Eep, but Grug pushed her out of the way. The claw captured took him away. The red light on his suit became green.

"Dad!" Eep yelled.

"The suits! They must have a tracking device! You need to destroy them!" Hiro realized.

Eugene and Hans both noticed two claws coming toward them so they quickly crushed Elsa and Anna's tracking devices. Hans had a bit more trouble, but he managed to do it just in time.

"Vente!" Elsa yelled as Eugene was taken away.

She shot ice shards at the claw managing to slow it down, but not enough to stop it.

"I'll find you again! I promise!" Eugene told her before he was taken away.

The room turned cold as Elsa cradled herself. She quickly turned around to see if Anna was okay. Anna was punching the doors Hans was taken into. She carved a whole into it, but he was already gone.

"Agnes!" Edith and Margo yelled.

They grabbed their youngest sister's hand, but the claw tore them apart with ease. Without hesitating, Ted grew vines from his palms and grabbed the claw. He swung around and jumped on top of the claw.

"I'll take care of her!" He promised Margo.

The claw disappeared with Ted and Agnes.

"Watch out!" Dash warned everyone as he made his way through the crowd, punching every tracker he could.

"Ow! Be careful!" Edith told him as she hopped on one leg while rubbing her foot.

"I just saved you!" Dash retorted.

"Well maybe if you had been a little faster my sister wouldn't have been taken," Edith growled.

"Faster? I'll show you fast," Dash responded and ran off.

He punched as many tracking devices as he could, but there were a few he couldn't get to in time. Wilbur teleported around and destroyed as many claws as he could with the help of the other supers.

"Mom!" Thunk yelled.

Ugga gave Sandy a hug before throwing her to Eep. Eep jumped in the air and caught her sister. She then destroyed the tracking devices on the rest of her family.

The claws stopped above the supers. They moved almost as if they were searching for something. Everyone stood still. Suddenly, they pointed toward the villains.

"Don't let them get taken!" Wilbur yelled.

Some supers stood dumbfounded while others sprinted into action. Two of the claws were immediately encased in ice before Anna destroyed them with a single punch.

Mr. Incredible turned to Frozone, who raised his hands and shook his head. Everyone else turned and found Elsa walking slowly toward the villains. Anna joined her sister after destroying all the claws Elsa froze. Wilbur teleported to where the villains were tied while his friends fought off the claws in the back.

"Hvor er de?" Elsa demanded of Syndrome as she walked toward him.

"Sorry Princess, I don't speak Norwegian," Syndrome replied.

"Where are they?!" Elsa demanded.

Ice escaped from her feet and created spikes around the cell.

"You didn't mention that she spoke English," the other Syndrome mumbled.

"Wouldn't you like to know?" Syndrome taunted her and ignored himself.

Anna put an arm through the bars and pulled him to her.

"If you value your life you'll tell us where they're to find them," she threatened him.

Elsa looked at her sister in surprise.

'She must not threaten people a lot,' Wilbur thought once he teleported next to them.

"You're English is getting better," Elsa complimented.

'Nevermind,' Wilbur thought.

Anna smirked at her sister then returned to glaring at Syndrome.

"Wait! I can get them to talk!" Penny told them.

"They won't listen to threats," Wilbur added.

Elsa's glare softened. She closed her eyes and slowly backed away from the cage. The ice shards disappeared. Anna wanted to argue but she looked at the pain in her sister's face and let go of Syndrome. Wilbur noticed how quiet it had gotten and turned around. The weren't anymore claws, but everyone was still on guard.

"Is that all of them?" someone asked.

"Eah! Grr ugh um glogh!" Eep started yelling.

"Huh?" Tip asked.

"Grr ugh um glogh!" Eep repeated.

"What's wrong? Why can't she talk?" Riley asked.

"Explain what happened to her. She was speaking English just a few minutes ago," Penny told
the villains.

"The tracking devices worked as translators as well," Dr. Calico replied.

"Great, how many of you can speak or at least understand English?" Wilbur asked.

Eep continued to yell as she looked around and touched the floor. The majority of the supers raised their hands.

"Gurg agot!" Eep yelled and pointed to the end of the hall where Wilbur, Penny, Elsa, Anna, and the villains were located.

Wilbur turned around and noticed a giant claw coming straight for him. He was able to teleport away, but the claw grabbed the cage with both Syndromes. Wilbur electrocuted the claw, but nothing happened. Confused, Wilbur looked closer and noticed the claw was covered with some sort of rubber. Elsa shot ice shards at it but it wasn't affected.

"Go ahead. Give it your best shot, but you won't cause a dent in its armor," a female voice taunted them through the intercom.

A giant screen slowly came out of the wall.

"I know that voice," Violet commented a few yards away.

"Evelyn," Mrs. Incredible replied.

"Bet this was quite a surprise, huh, Elastigirl? Oh wait, you completed your transformation of being Mr. Incredible's shadow. Isn't that right 'Mrs. Incredible'?" Evelyn asked.

"Evelyn Deavor? She's under house arrest, how could she be helping them?" Mr. Incredible asked.

The screen turned on and showed Evelyn in a modified version of the Screen Slaver outfit.

"It's funny what a lot of money can buy," Evelyn replied.

"Now," she continued, "I need you to return my associates or I'll blow this island up with all of you in it."

"Not another deal," Hiro grumbled. "How exactly do we know you won't take them and blow us up right after?"

"Hmm, guess you won't know until it happens," she replied.

"Let me evacuate everyone. I'll stay here after you take them so I know no one else will be hurt," Wilbur bargained.

"What's the fun in that?" She replied. "How about I do this instead?"

She pressed a button which caused the screen to flash a black and white pattern.

"DON'T LOOK AT THE SCREEN!" Mrs. Incredible yelled.

She handed Jack-Jack to her husband and made a wall out of her body to cover the eyes of the supers behind her.

"Penny! Wilbur! Don't look at the screen!" Violet yelled. "Penny?! Wilbur!?"

"Violet, what's going on?" Hiro asked as he ran to her side. No one could see what was happening on the other side of Mrs. Incredible's wall.

"That's the villain Screen Slaver. She can control people as long as she has a screen in front of them," Violet quickly explained. "Mom, you have to let us through!"

"Violet, I don't--"

"Come closer," Evelyn commanded.

"Please! Our friends need our help!" Violet begged.

"Be careful." Her mom warned her. She created a hole for them to go through before closing it back up right after they ran through.

"Hiro! Be careful!" Tadashi told him.

Violet and Hiro ran with their eyes facing the ground.

"Wilbur? Penny?" Hiro asked.

"Yeah, I'm here," Wilbur replied. His back was to the screen. He ran to his friends as soon as he saw them.

Violet sighed with relief.

"Penny?" She called. No response.

"Violet! The screen at 2 O'clock," Hiro told her.

Without even questioning it she started throwing energy shields in the general direction.

"Whoops, you missed," Evelyn taunted.

Wilbur closed his eyes and turned back around. He shot lightning bolts in the same direction. Anna and Elsa backed away from the cage and joined the younger supers.

"Grab onto the cage," Evelyn commanded.

Panic rose inside of Violet's chest as she, Wilbur, and Elsa tried to hit the screen. Evelyn enjoyed watching them struggle blindly, but she realized they would eventually hit the screen. She was going to press the retract button on the claw, but before she could the screen turned black.

"No!" All the supers heard her yell.

She slammed her hand down on the button, hoping she had done so before the supers realized they hit the screen.

"Well, no use in keeping the place," she shrugged and pressed another button.

As soon as Wilbur heard the loud crash followed by an even louder no, he looked up.

"Penny!"

She was holding on to the cage as the claw moved it around.

"Guys! We can't let them get away!" She yelled.

"Penny, let go! We'll find them again!" Hiro pleaded.

"But—" Penny tried to argue.

She couldn't hold on anymore. Her heart dropped as she started to fall. Wilbur, Violet, and Hiro had no time to think as they ran toward her. Penny crossed her arms and squeezed her eyes shut as she fell. Her landing, however, was not a painful as she thought. She looked down and realized her friends had caught her.

"Have I ever told you guys you were my best friends?" She asked the three who had broken her fall.

She got up as quickly as her aching body allowed and helped them up.

"Yes, but it's nice to be reminded," Violet joked and slowly moved her arms around.

"I'm going to feel all of this later," Wilbur groaned and held his shoulder.

"They're gone now!" Violet told the supers.

Mrs. Incredible ran to her daughter.

"Sweetie are you okay?" She asked and looked at her arms.

Violet had no time to reply when the alarms blared once more.

"I'm really starting to hate that sound," Dash grumbled.

"We have to get out of here. Wilbur you're going to have to teleport everyone out," Hiro told him.

"I've never teleported this many people, I've barely even teleported myself with another person," Wilbur replied. "Not to mention my messed up shoulder."

"We have no choice. Penny and Mary can help you," Violet replied.

"Everyone gather around!" Mr. Incredible instructed.

Everyone held each other's hand, gathering into a giant circle.

"Wait, I need to know where we're going," Mary told them.

"Here," Hiro replied and showed her a hologram of the lab along with the address on the side.

Penny quickly removed her gloves.

"Are you ready?" Penny asked.

When they nodded she grabbed their hands. Bright lights engulfed everyone.

Violet opened her eyes and recognized the underground lab. Everyone came to and looked around not completely trusting the place.

"We did it," Violet said and tried to take a step forward but her legs gave in.

"Violet!" Her friends exclaimed and ran to her, but they collapsed as well. The adrenaline was starting to wear off for them.

"You need to rest," Tadashi told them.

"We're not done yet," Wilbur told him and shakily stood up.

"What do you mean? Everyone is out, right?" Violet asked.

"Not the soldiers," Penny replied.

"Heroes save others regardless of what they might have done," Hiro sighed.

"Hiro, I'm not liking where this conversation is going," Aunt Cass told him.

"I can't ask you to come with me," Wilbur told his friends.

"You don't have to," Penny replied.

"I can still stand which should be enough," Violet groaned as she stood up.

"Violet, no!" Her mom argued.

"Sorry, it's just something we have to do," Violet replied.

The four held hands and disappeared.
