Chapter 18: Running out of Time

"What will you evacuate if you two are trapped here?" Wilbur asked.

"Do you seriously think I'll go to jail? I have technology the government can only dream of! They'll let me out, and when they do I'll continue on with my work," Syndrome taunted.

"You're wrong! What you're doing- imprisoning people and probably experimenting on them- cannot go unpunished," Penny told him.

"I'd hate to admit it guys, but he's right. The same thing happened with Evelyn Deavor. She's supposedly in "jail" but she's living in her mansion and creating new tech every day," Violet begrudgingly agreed.

"See? She gets it! Every major power in the world will fight over me. They don't care what happens to Supers. They don't even think of you as human!" Syndrome laughed.

"7 minutes until the evacuation," the computer said.

"7 minutes? Why an odd number? Usually, it's 10 or something. Nevermind! We need to get everyone out of their cells now!" Hiro told them.

"I can teleport, them out. Hopefully, I'm not the only one," Wilbur replied.

"I'll try to unlock them manually as well," Hiro replied and went to work.

"Ginormica, please don't let him go," Wilbur pleaded.

"Wouldn't dream of it. See if you can find my friends as well, they don't look human so they'll be easy to find," she replied.

Wilbur nodded and teleported Violet, Baymax, and Penny down to where the Supers were. Penny and Violet finally saw all the rubble and the dust-covered Supers there.

"Oh my- what happened?" Penny asked.

"Syndrome created an explosion, he probably thought everyone would go back to their cells for protection. Ginormica protected everyone else. Enough talking, let's get everyone out," Wilbur quickly explained.

"If you have teleportation powers or something similar and you can use it to get them out please speak up!"

"I do!" He heard two people say.

They were both young ladies. One had blue-green hair while the other had black hair.

"Voyde? They got you too?" Violet asked.

"Violet! I was just patrolling when I was captured," Voyde replied.

"Have you seen my family?" Violet asked.

Voyde shook her head. Violet sighed.

"The three of us need to work together to get everyone out," Wilbur told her and the other girl.

"Mom and Dad will never believe this," the black-haired one whispered.

"Everyone else! If you are out please try to help other people out! We have less than 7 minutes," Penny told everyone.

Everyone ran towards different cells, making sure everyone was out or trying to open up.

"Wait! There are more!" Eep yelled.

"Yeah, we're trying to get them out," MK replied.

"No! They're not here! I hear them, but they're in the ground!" Eep told her.

"In the ground?" Violet asked.

"Yes! Below my feet!" Eep tried to make herself clear.

"There must be more Supers on the floor below us!" Violet exclaimed.

"We need a small group to go down and help them!" Penny exclaimed. "Anna, Eugene, Eep and someone who can teleport " Penny stated.

"I can do it!" the girl with black hair said.

"Okay, what's your name?" Violet asked.

"Mary," Mary replied.

There was a bit of hesitation in her voice, but everyone was on edge so Violet just brushed it off.

"Mary, please get as many people as you can out," Violet told her.

Mary nodded and then grabbed Anna, Eugene, and Eep. She teleported reminiscent of someone else, but Violet had no time to think about it.

~With Mary's group~

"Wow, that felt weird," Anna said once they teleported to the floor below.

"Let's hurry," Mary told them.

"There are only like 3 cells," Anna said.

"No, I hear people behind these walls," Eep told them and pressed her ear against a cell.

"And the ones we can see don't seem to see or hear us," Eugene told them as he hit a window with 4 people inside.

"Every wall is a room," Eep told them.

She ran over to one cell and started hitting it. Her breathing became ragged and she went back to her "monster" form. Mary ran over and teleported them both inside.

"Eep!" an old lady's voice said.

"Gran!?" Eep asked.

"Eep are you okay? Where's Thunk?" her dad asked.

Grug was encased in a metal cage that left only his head out. Her mom and Sandy had these metal guards around their mouths and her grandma was just chained to the wall. Eep, still in her monster form, ripped the chains off. Mary touched Grug's head and teleported him out.

"Thanks," he said and collapsed.

"Dad!" Eep called.

Her body went back to normal as she cradled her dad.

"I'm fine, I just can't feel my body," he told her.

Mary helped Ugga and Sandy out of their restraints, allowing the family to embrace each other.

"I was so worried when that giant blue bird bit you guys," Eep told them and cried.

"We're fine, we knew we'd get out. Where are Thunk and Guy?" Ugga asked.

"They're here," Eep sniffed and quickly got up. "We have to help get everyone else out!"

"Out? Where are we?" Ugga asked.

"We'll explain later. What are your powers?" Mary asked them.

"Powers?" Grug asked.

"What did you do before you were brought here?" she asked.

"This," Ugga replied and ran to the door.

She breathed in and blew fire out of her mouth, creating a hole in the wall for them to get out. Sandy spit on the floor creating another hole.

"That is going to be super helpful, come on," Mary told them.

They followed Mary out of the cell and into the main hall. Mary told them what to do. Sandy and Ugga ran to opposite sides of the halls and created holes on every wall. The rest went inside and quickly tried to help everyone they could out.

The cell had a boy and a girl. The boy was sitting on the floor with red lights pointing to him and the girl had guns pointing to her.

"I can't move or else they'll go off," the boy said.

"Hey, I need some help here!" Anna told them.

Ugga was the closest one there so she ran over.

"Oh you poor children," she said and got ready to breathe fire on the machines.

"Anna?" Anna heard someone say.

"Elsa?" Anna asked and got out.

"Elsa?" Eugene asked. "Where are you!?"

"Over here!" Elsa responded.

"We have to help her," Anna said and tried to make her way but Eugene stopped her.

"I'll go get her, you help the rest out," Eugene told her.

Anna wanted to protest, but she knew she had to help. She nodded and with that Eugene was off.

"Okay, umm, please speak up again," Anna told everyone.

She ran to the closest cell, which oddly enough contained 4 people. She climbed through the hole, careful not to touch the acid. The people inside were a man, a woman, and two kids one of which was a baby.

"What is this?" Anna asked and reached for the black balls holding them to the wall.

"No don't touch them!" the woman yelled.

"You'll get stuck if you do! You need to find someone who can freeze them or something. I have super strength so I'll be able to help everyone else out once I'm not stuck here," the man told her.

"I know just the person. Wait here! I mean- you know what I mean," Anna told them.

~Back with Violet, Penny, and Wilbur~

"We need to speed this up!" Violet said.

She stood in between the first row of cells and casted force fields around everyone she could see.

"If you can destroy the cells do so now!" Violet told everyone.

Voyde, another girl, and a blue dog-like creature ran to the cells. The first one up was Voyde, she created a hole underneath the people in the first cell and another outside of the cell so they could fall through.

"Alright Stitch, hand me the blaster," the girl told him.

The- monster?- took out a weird gun from who knows where and threw it to her. She caught it and started blasting the doors. On the other rows, Stitch spit on the cells and they eroded away.

"Baymax help anyone who's injured!" Penny instructed.

The robot quickly walked to a group of Supers.

"Next row!" Violet told them.

They followed her and did the same on all three rows. Some were a bit trickier than others because the cells were special or they didn't have anyone inside so they were a bit of a waste of time. One of them was even leaking sleeping gas, but the people who had been inside were already out, so Violet just created a force field around the door to stop the gas.

"Is everyone out?" Penny asked.

"I think so. How much time is left?" Violet asked.

"Hiro, how much time?" Penny asked.

"56 seconds," he quickly replied.

"Less than a minute," Penny told everyone.

Violet started to shake with anxiety. What if they couldn't get everyone else out? And where was her family? Her breathing got ragged. She shook her head and told herself she wouldn't go back to her old self, not again. Someone noticed her and quickly walked over.

"Young lady, look at me. Everything will be okay I know you think the situation is hopeless, but it's not," the young man said.

Violet looked at him and felt herself relax. She breathed in and nodded.

"Thank you- uh?" she said.

"Hans," he replied.

"Violet, we need to go down there and help everyone out," Penny told her.

"Everyone, grab on!" Wilbur told them.

As quickly as they possibly could, everyone held onto each other. Wilbur teleported them to the floor below where there were more cells.

"Hurry!" Wilbur instructed.

"I got this!" a woman from their group said and touched a control panel on the wall.

Suddenly the chains and guns that were electrical let people go. Everyone either ran out of their cells or through the halls, making sure that everyone was out.

"The timer stopped with three seconds to spare," Hiro told his friends through his microphone.

Penny breathed out a sigh of relief and started shaking. Violet was concerned at first but then she saw that Penny was laughing.

"We did it," Penny smiled.
