Chapter 17: A Very Refusable Offer

"Aunt Cass!" Hiro yelled through his microphone.

"Hiro, what happened?" Penny asked.

"I don't know," Hiro replied.

"I'll tell Wilbur to go there, but we have to beat them now before they kidnap and torture more people," Penny told him.

Hiro rubbed his neck. He slowly nodded.

"Wilbur, Aunt Cass needs some help. I'll tell you where to go," Penny told Wilbur through her earpiece and sent him the coordinates.

"Now, take a deep breath," Penny instructed.

"I'm fine. I just... I don't want to lose anyone else," Hiro admitted.

"We're going to get your brother and aunt back, you don't have to worry about that," Penny assured him.

She grabbed his hand allowing him to use his powers to the max. Hiro looked at their interlocked hands before turning towards the door with determination. He busted the doors open.

"No," Penny whispered when she looked inside.

Syndrome stood in the middle of the room, holding Violet by the neck.

"It seems I underestimated you four. But now I have the upper hand. One wrong move and I'll snap her neck in two," Syndrome warned them.

"What do you want from us?!" Hiro yelled.

"Your powers," Syndrome replied.

"How do you plan on getting them?" Penny asked.

"That's for me to know, and for you to never find out," Syndrome taunted. "But I'll make you a deal. Sign this contract, get my other self out of that cell, and I'll give her back."

"You couldn't get him out?" Penny asked with her arms crossed.

"Don't get smart with me. Should I remind you who you're dealing with?" Syndrome asked slowly holding Violet with more force.

"Don't do it!" Violet struggled. "Please. I don't want you getting hurt."

"I'll do it," Hiro replied.

"Hiro, this is a trap," Penny warned him.

"There's no other choice," Hiro reminded her.

They slowly walked closer to Syndrome. Hiro got close enough to Syndrome to take the contract from his hands.

"What's this?" Hiro asked and started reading. "Wait, you want Baymax?"

"I don't see why you have to read it. It's not like you have a choice," Syndrome stated.

"Baymax isn't mine to give," Hiro told him.

"Maybe not in this timeline, but he's certainly yours in the dimension where your brother dies," Syndrome told him. "Sign the contract, and THEN I'll let her go."

"What? How come you get what you want first?" Hiro asked. Penny remained quiet while also looking over the contract.

Penny went to grab Hiro's hand but Syndrome reminded her," One wrong move and it's bye-bye to little Miss Invisible over here. I'll even raise the stakes. With one press of a button on that panel, this whole island will explode and we wouldn't want that, now would we?"

"Don't you want your other half out of the cell?" Penny asked.

Syndrome grumbled, "Fine."

~With Wilbur~

"Come on, don't fall behind!" Wilbur told himself as he rounded the corner.

There was a large door in front, but he didn't even bother to try picking the lock, instead opting to teleport inside the room.

"There you are," Wilbur sighed with relief.

The stolen time machine stood on an elevated platform in the middle of the room. Wilbur walked closer but stopped when he heard a gun click behind him. Before he could even react he was shot in the shoulder making him fall to his knees.

"Step away from the machine," Richard warned with a laser gun pointed toward him.

"A laser gun against a person who can teleport and control electricity?" Wilbur groaned. "You do realize this won't hurt me for long, right? Right?"

"There's something you don't know about me. Something no one knows. I too have am a Super," Richard told him.

Wilbur stood still as Richard walked around him, never pointing the gun away from him. Richard took his silent demeanor for shock and laughed.

"I can stop others' powers, so you won't be teleporting out of this situation," Richard warned him and took a few steps closer to the time machine.

"I know," Wilbur told him.

"What?" Richard asked.

"That's why Penny's dad asked you to take care of her, right?" Wilbur asked him.

"I had everything until Forrester's daughter left! I had money, fame, power! ... I'm in debt because I used everything I had to buy this island and seem like a valuable asset to Syndrome," Richard told him.

"You're not in your right mind, if you surrender now, you won't get as much jail time as the rest," Wilbur negotiated.

"I have a better idea. I'll travel back in time and make sure Penny never leaves," Richard snarled.

Wilbur attempted to get closer but Richard shot at him again. Clearly, he had never shot before seeing as he was pushed back a bit. He somehow missing despite being only a few feet away.

"Don't mess with someone who has nothing to lose!" Richard warned him.

"No, don't mess with someone who has everything to lose," Wilbur says before grabbing his own ray gun and shooting at Richard.

He shot Richard's gun out of his hands making it fall away from him. Wilbur saw Richard scrambling to catch it and used the opportunity to teleport closer and tackle him to the ground. Unfortunately, the gun went off and a ray flew in the direction of the time machine. Once it hit the panel it started to short circuit and shake.

"I'm so dead," Wilbur groaned.

"You will be," Richard yelled and struggled under him.

He was desperate, Wilbur knew. While Wilbur tried to apprehend him, Richard stuck his thumb in the spot Wilbur had been shot in.

Wilbur hissed in pain allowing Richard to shove him off and run. Tired, Wilbur took out a small machine and threw it at Richard while he was running. The machine opened up and a net came out trapping Richard. Wilbur slowly stood up, then teleported to the time machine.

"Please don't do this. My old man is going to kill me," Wilbur whispered.

He grabbed the wheel but it sent electricity out. He could feel the energy going through him, but it didn't hurt. It started to shake even more so Wilbur quickly teleported away. As soon as he was off the time machine disappeared.

"How did you know?" Richard asked him.

"That your power only works if you're looking at them? Throughout our whole chase, I've been sending sparks out of my hand. Every time you turned to look at me they went away," Wilbur responded before grabbing him.

"Wait, wait, wait! Is your offer still on the table?" Richard pleaded.

"You had your chance," Wilbur told him. "Plus, I don't make deals with people who try to kill me."

"Wilbur, Aunt Cass needs some help. I'll tell you where to go," Wilbur heard Penny through his earpiece.

He received some coordinates in his watch. He pressed on it, revealing that Aunt Cass was two floors above him.

"That's where some Supers are being held captive! I can tell you how to get them out," Richard coaxed.

"First, I'll go help them. Then I'll see if I want to listen to you," Wilbur replied.

He grabbed a piece of cloth and used it to cover Richard's eyes. He then teleported both of them to the room Aunt Cass was in. Everything was in ruins.

"Hello?" Wilbur called.

He left Richard and started to quickly walk around. What happened? Where were they?!

"Anyone?!" Wilbur called.

He heard coughing and followed it. He stopped when he reached a giant mountain covered in rocks and dust.

~Penny and Hiro~

"I need a pen," Hiro told Syndrome.

Syndrome smirked and handed him one.

"Do you just carry the contract and pen everywhere you go?" Hiro asked and took it.

"I knew I'd get you soon enough," Syndrome replied.

He watched as Hiro signed the contract.

"Here, now let her go," Hiro replied and handed him the contract.

"You know what? I think I'll keep a hold of her until you get him out," Syndrome told them.

"You liar!" Penny yelled.

"Just get him out already," Syndrome sneered.

Penny shook her head solemnly. Hiro opened up a hole in the cage, but before the Syndrome inside could come out Wilbur teleported grabbing Violet away from his clutches. Hiro quickly closed the bars again.

"See, I wanted to do this in a civilized manner, but you Supers just like making things hard for yourselves. Now what? I still have the button to destroy this island. I still have the contract. I still have hundreds of trained soldiers at my disposal. What do you guys have?" Syndrome asked them.

"We have Ginormica," Wilbur replied.

Syndrome seemed to get a bit worried when a giant hand busted through the steel floor and grabbed him.

"What the- when did you get out?" Syndrome yelled.

The head and shoulders of a giant woman with white hair and blue eyes came out of the floor as she pulled Syndrome closer to her face.

"I always end up waking up in strange places, with strange clothes, imprisoned by strange beings in strange hovering devices, but rarely does that end up with me waking up just in time for an explosion. I think you owe me an apology," the woman said.

"Heh, you think I'm scared? Island evacuation plan Beta!" Syndrome yelled.

The computer turned red and a clock started ticking. Another alarm blared through the entire building. Hiro could see the cells being closed again through the monitors.

"What did you do?!" Violet asked.

"I'm not about to let my hard work go to waste," Syndrome replied.
