Chapter 14: Is this the End?

“Alright team, everyone knows exactly what to do, right?” Wilbur asked.

“Yes,” the rest repeated.

“Good. We have to do this in a stealthy manner,” he reminded them as they went to get ready.

“Priority number 1, defeating Syndrome and the other villains,” Violet said aloud.

They changed into their costumes or prepared any extra weapons they may need in Penny’s case.

“Penny, remember that you have to stay close to one of us at all times incase we need the power boost,” Hiro reminded.

Penny hummed in response. They regrouped near the elevator with Baymax.

“Everyone, let’s not fail,” Wilbur stated.

"Gee, I feel so inspired," Hiro replied.

They got on the elevator and traveled to the lab. They left the elevator open for Bolt to be able to travel underground if he wanted to, but they made sure to lock the front door. It was only a few seconds after they stepped out that they were face to face with 5 NSA troops.

“You four are coming with us,” one of the agents said.

“What did we do?” Violet asked with her hands in the air.

“More like what you didn’t do. Supers aren’t allowed to use their powers without government consent,” he replied.

“How were we supposed to know that?” Hiro asked.

"Don't play games with us. Keep your hands up and don't try anything funny," the agent replied.

The 5 of then were taken into the 5 separate cars. They were handcuffed and driven to the NSA headquarters. The cars separated in order to not give away a location, but they all traveled through a dark tunnel and changed the way the cars looked.

“So what if we used our powers? It’s not like we harmed anyone!” Wilbur exclaimed from the back seat of the car.

"That's not what we were told," the agent driving replied.

Once the four arrived, they were taken into separate rooms were they would be kept until further notice.

“Talk! What were you planning to do in your suits?” an agent asked Hiro.

He remained quiet with his arms crossed. Nothing the agent did made Hiro say a word. The same thing happened with Violet. Baymax was uncharacteristically quiet as well, and opted to only look around the room.

“Look, we’re not supposed to be here,” Wilbur tried to explain.

“I think you are supposed to be here. Time Traveler, how many times have you been here?” the agent asked.

“This is only the second time! That I know of,” he murmured the last part.

“Wrong! You’ve snuck in before and taken NSA files and weapons,” the agent reminded him.

“I’m sure I had a good reason for that,” he replied.

The agents were getting sick of it all. The Time Traveler only mouthed back, Penny, or Agent Alpha as she told them, replied much too quiet for them to hear and was a nervous wreck. Then, Titanio, or Hiro, along with Phantom Crow, Violet, and Baymax refused to utter a single word.

~Unknown location~

“That was unexpected, but the plan is still in motion,” Syndrome snickered.

“Everyone knows what to do, right?” he asked the rest.

“Get the robot and the kids,” Yokai repeated.

“Remember, the building will be crawling with NSA agents, so be prepared to destroy as much property as possible,” the other Syndrome reminded.

“Why don’t we just kill them already?” Dr. Calico asked impatiently.

“We need them alive. Corpses don’t talk or have powers for us to take,” Syndrome replied.

“Everyone move. Yokai, Dr. Calico, ruff them up, but don’t kill them. Old me, stay here with Richard and look over everything. I’ll go to their lab and take their files,” he repeated the plan.

~~Back at the NSA~~

“These kids are refusing to cooperate, that’s a federal offence, why don’t we just jail them?” an agent asked his collegue.

“Look, John, whether you like it or not, this little group enforces time laws and ensures that the timeline remains in order,” the other agent reminded him.

“I understand that Mr. Anderson, but why did we bring them here then?!’ agent John asked frustrated.

“We got a report that they jumped a young boy and girl with the former being the one who the lab belongs to. They were there, but it could have been for good reason,” agent Anderson replied.

“And why aren’t they regulated?” John insisted.

“It was an agreement they came to with our boss. We don’t have their time-traveling abilities, so it was all she could do,” his superior replied.

Anderson started to mull the situation over before deciding what to do.

“Let them go,” Mr. Anderson told all the agents.

They nodded in response and opened up the doors. There was a loud commotion coming from another part of the Head Quarters when the alarms went off.

“There are two intruders in the building! This is not a drill! All agents must evacuate immediately,” a female voice ordered.

The agents followed the orders, giving the Futuristic Four an opening to check out what was happening.

“Where is that coming from?” Wilbur asked.

“I think from over here!” Penny replied and led the way.

They made it to a large area filled with cubicles. Yokai (Professor Callaghan) and Dr. Calico were bickering in the middle.

“You said we would transport directly beside their cells!” Yokai hissed under his mask.

“You’re supposed to be a genius, why didn’t you do it?” Dr. Calico grumbled.

Wilbur quickly signalled for everyone to separate. The cubicle spaces gave them enough coverage for them to not be seen, at least until they were ready to attack.

The actress and Robinson’s son are closest to you two. The girl is hiding 3 cubicles to your left Callaghan, and the kid is hiding 1 cubicle in front of you Calico,” both villains heard Syndrome’s instructions through their earbuds.

The villains nodded and went to grabbed them both.

“Watch out!” Wilbur exclaimed.

He jumped out of the way and shot out electricity towards the villains. They both moved out of the way, but the electricity fried the cameras in the room.

“I can’t see a thing, all the cameras are out. Do you have them?” Syndrome asked.

“The rest of you better come out unless you want to see us saw your friends in half,” Syndrome heard Dr. Calico warn them.

"Fine, just don't hurt them!" Violet replied.

"Captured, I can't believe it," Wilbur mumbled rather loudly.

“Yeah, we’ll be there right away,” Yokai replied.

Back in his lair, Syndrome smirked.

“Everything has fallen into place, and no one can stop me,” he boasted.

“Don’t you mean, ‘No one can stop us’?” Richard asked him.

“Same thing, now to check up on myself,” he replied and brushed Richards comment.

He changed the screens to show the cameras located in Hiro’s lab. The upstairs was empty, so he switched it to the underground cameras.

“What?!” he exclaimed once he saw himself in a jail cell.

“They must have set a trap in case of intruders,” Richard guessed from his chair.

“Fine, I’ll go release him. You stay here and look after the island,” Syndrome replied and got up.

“Whatever you say boss,” Richard replied and placed his feet on the table.

He knew it was a trap but if Syndrome was dumb enough to go for it, who was he to stop him?
