Chapter 7
I hid my face in my knees again, not wanting Bixlow to see me still crying. It's all out in the open now. He knows everything that I've been through.
I felt his hand rub my shoulder and his voice call my name. "Freya."
I slowly picked my head up and met his gaze. He brought his other hand up and brushed my hair to the side, showing my left eye that's usually covered by my bangs. He wiped my tears away and smiled.
"Please stop crying. Everything's okay now. You don't have to be afraid anymore."
It pained me to look at him and know that he was wrong. I slowly pushed his hand off my shoulder and turned away, hugging my arms.
"That's where you're wrong, Bixlow. You haven't seen what I have. I think it's time I go. I've been in Onibus for too long."
I quickly stood up, hearing Bixlow do the same. "Freya, wait. Don't go."
"I have to, and you have to leave me alone. You'll only be in danger around me. I wasn't able to say it before, but I can now. Goodbye, Bixlow."
Before he could stop me, I disappeared into the shadows and got as far away as I could. I'm sorry, Bixlow, but this is for your own good.
Bixlow's pov
Before I could react, Freya had already left. I actually felt tears beginning to form in my eyes. I want to help her, but she won't listen and let me. I felt so useless.
I held back my tears and fixed my hood and visor before slowly heading back. I found Freed and my babies back where I had left them. Freed seemed to glance around and frown.
"She's gone, isn't she?"
I sadly nodded. "Yeah."
"Come on, let's get our reward and head home."
I gave a small nod. "Okay."
We went over to the jeweler that sent the request. Freed collected our reward and we got on a train to head back to Magnolia. Besides telling Freed a little about Freya's motives, I mostly stayed quiet the whole ride.
I can't get her out of my head. I can't help but worry about her out there. But I don't know where she could've gone and how I can even help her.
After making it back to Magnolia, I let Freed go to the guild to report our success while I headed home for the night. I didn't get much sleep, but it was better than nothing.
The next morning, I quietly went to the guild, already seeing Freed there and talking with Laxus. I noticed Evergreen was also here. I guess she finished her mission.
I took a seat at the bar, getting a drink while listening to the others talking. I heard Freed explaining to some of the others about Freya and me. I was glad that he was filling them in instead of me. I'm not really in the mood to talk to everyone.
I was a bit surprised when Laxus came over and placed a hand on my shoulder. "Bixlow, I know you're feeling down right now."
I gave a small grin and said, "It's alright. Really. Maybe it's just not meant to happen."
He frowned at me. "That's too bad, because I'd very much like to meet this girl. She'd make a great addition to the team."
My eyes widened and I looked up at him in surprise. "W-What are you saying?"
"Do I have to spell it out for you? Take some time off, Bixlow. Go look for this Freya girl and bring her back here, and don't even bother arguing because I know you want to go."
He flashed me a smirk. I quickly stood up with a grin on my face. "You're right! I can't give up! I will find her and bring her back here!"
"Bring her back!" my babies repeated.
"Don't think you're going anywhere without us."
I turned to see Freed and Evergreen. With a hand on her hip, Evergreen smiled at me.
"Besides, I'd like to meet this childhood friend of yours. She must be something special to have caught your eye."
"He's in loooove!" Happy suddenly interrupted.
I stuck my tongue out and replied, "Ah, shut up, you stupid furball!"
Carla calmly walked over alongside Happy. "I would also like to meet her if she has the same ability as me."
"I'd like to challenge her to a battle!" Natsu yelled out.
Erza calmly went over and hit him over the head. "You will do no such thing. No picking fights with new members."
"That settles it then," I said. "Let's get going!"
"Get going! Get going!"
Freed, Evergreen, and I rushed outside. Freed immediately summoned his wings made from runes.
"I suggest we travel by air this time. That way it'll be easier to spot anything."
I nodded in agreement. "Good idea. Come on, babies!"
My babies lined up, letting me step onto them. Evergreen's fairy-like wings sprouted from her back and together the three of us took off into the sky.
With everyone's support, I feel much more confident in finding Freya now. Even Laxus wants to meet her. So I'm going to find her and I'm going to convince her to come back with me...somehow.
Freya's pov
With my hood over my head, I calmly walked down the street. I smiled to myself. Clover Town sure is a peaceful place. I suddenly felt a gust of wind that sent a chill up my spine.
Feeling a presence behind me, I quickly spun around to see a guy with light blue hair and golden eyes. He stood with his hands in his pockets and watched me with a grin.
"Hello there, Freya."
"Who are you?" I sternly asked.
"My name is Coro. You've probably already figured this out, but I'm here to bring you back to your master."
I narrowed my eyes at him. "You're with Fallen Angel then. The only way you'll take me is to beat me."
"Well, I don't usually like fighting girls, but if that's what it takes."
I slid my hood off and pushed my cloak to the side. I watched his eyes widen and start traveling up and down my body. He suddenly smirked at me.
"Hey, you're pretty cute! Tell you what, I'll pretend this meeting never happened in exchange for a kiss."
I scrunched my nose in disgust. "Not on your life."
"Fine. We'll do this the hard way. Wind Wall!"
I watched as a huge tornado formed around us, creating a barrier. Coro grinned at me as I glanced around at the cyclone.
"There. Now it's just you and me. Try to leave and you'll be torn to shreds."
I immediately charged toward him while muttering, "Shadow Claws."
"Aerial Shot!"
With a swipe of his hand, large rocks flew up from the ground and toward me. I continued advancing toward him while dodging around the rocks. Getting in close, I swiped my claws at him only for him to disappear.
My eyes widened and I suddenly heard, "Storm Shred!"
Before I could react, I felt something hit my arm. I screamed as the impact knocked me to the ground. I looked back to see Coro still smirking at me.
"Come on, Freya. You're making this way harder than it needs to be. Just turn yourself in already."
I sat up, clutching my stinging arm. "Never! Shadow Orochi!"
With my hand on the ground, a swarm of snakes emerged from the darkness and surrounded Coro. He seemed surprised as the snakes coiled around him.
I quickly stood and attacked while he was trapped. "Shadow Sphere!"
My black spheres flew forward and hit Coro. My snakes began biting at him immediately after. His painful cries rang out through the area.
"Storm Mail!"
He suddenly surrounded himself with a powerful wind that destroyed my snakes. "Storm Bringer!"
He then repeated that spell several times, creating multiple small tornados that trapped me. Feeling my feet lift off the ground, my body was battered by the strong winds.
Bixlow's pov
The three of us flew around Onibus, hoping to find any clues as to where Freya went. So far there was nothing. There was no way of knowing where she could've gone.
"What's that in the distance?"
Evergreen's voice forced me to look up from the ground below. Freed and I followed her gaze toward where Clover Town was located. Now I could see it. It looked like some kind of tornado.
"That looks like a wind spell," Freed stated.
I frowned slightly. "I wonder if that's where Freya is. She could be in trouble! Full speed ahead, babies!"
I quickly took off toward the large tornado with Freed and Evergreen right behind me. Hold on, Freya, I'm on my way.
