Chapter 6

Bixlow's pov

What just happened? She was about to take my hand but then she suddenly looked afraid and ran. Did she have a vision? I need to find her and get some answers out of her.

Freed came closer and placed a hand on my shoulder. "Go after her. I know you want to."

He gave me a small smile that I quickly returned. "Stay with Freed, babies. I need to talk to Freya alone."

My babies stayed in place beside Freed while I quickly headed into the woods. I went in the same direction as Freya and soon heard a few sobs.

I quickly followed the sounds until I found Freya in a small clearing where the moon shone down on her. She leaned back against a tree with her knees pulled up to where she hid her face in them.

I slowly walked over and sat beside her. She picked her head up and looked at me with teary eyes.

"Bixlow?"

Freya's pov

He gave me a soft smile. "It's alright. It's just the two of us. Now would you tell me what's wrong and why you ran away?"

I nodded slightly and explained, "I had a vision. Your guild had been torn apart. You and everyone else were gravely injured, and it was all because of me."

More tears spilled from my eyes and I felt Bixlow scoot closer and wrap an arm around my shoulder. "Freya, not everything you see is going to come true."

"But even if that future doesn't come true, a similar one will take its place. I'm a danger to be around. You and your entire guild would be better off without me there."

He chuckled slightly. "Have you even heard about my guild? Fairy Tail is always in danger from dark guilds, the Magic Counsel, you name it. But it doesn't matter because everyone in Fairy Tail is part of one big family. A family that you could be a part of."

"No, I can't, Bixlow," I sadly stated. "You don't understand."

"Because you won't let me understand. Freya, we used to be such good friends. What happened to all of that?"

"Bixlow..."

I looked up at him and slowly reached my hands up. He allowed me to carefully pull off his visor and hood, letting me see his face. I gazed up into his dark red eyes and smiled.

"I missed you. I always regretted never being able to say goodbye. I never forgot about you."

His gaze softened and he gave a gentle smile. "The same goes for me. Now would you mind telling me why you disappeared that day?"

I nodded and started explaining, "Well, that last day we saw each other was also the night my mother died. For weeks, she battled a strong illness that slowly took her life. I never told you or anyone else because I didn't want to worry everybody with my problems. But that night was the worst night of my life."

I stood beside my mother's bed, watching her through watery eyes. She looked over at me with a soft smile.

"Don't cry for me, Freya. I don't want you to be sad. I want to see you smile."

Tears ran down my cheeks as I clutched her hand in mine. "Please, mom, you can't go. Don't leave me."

"Freya, I foresaw that this was my fate and I accept it. You should do the same. After all, you cannot change fate."

She winced slightly before smiling at me again. "Now don't worry, Draven is going to look after you once I'm gone. You be a good girl and listen to him, okay?"

I quickly nodded. "I will, mom."

"Now show me one last smile."

Through my tears, I forced a smile for her. Her eyes began to close and her grip on my hand loosened.

"That's my girl. I will always love you, my sweet little Freya."

With that being said, her breathing finally stopped. My smile instantly faded and I began crying even more. I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned toward Draven, wrapping him in a hug.

"It's alright, Freya. She will still live on in your heart."

After I spent hours of crying that night, I finally got a little bit of sleep before Draven woke me up early the next morning. I rubbed my tired eyes and followed him outside.

It was so early that the streets were empty and the sky was still mostly dark. I stopped right outside of town, causing Draven to also stop. I looked back at the town, thinking of my one friend.

"Are we leaving? Can I say goodbye first?"

"There's no time, Freya. We've got to go now."

He took me by the hand and pulled me along behind him. Not being able to stop, I glanced back at the town that grew smaller as we went.

"Goodbye, Bixlow," I muttered to myself.

Draven took me far up into the mountains that resided near our hometown. After walking for what seemed like hours, we finally stopped, allowing me to catch my breath. Draven turned and gazed down at me.

"Freya, do you know why I brought you here?"

"Umm..."

"You inherited the same abilities as your mother, Lilith. I trained alongside her, but now that she is gone, I plan to teach you everything she knew. Do you want to grow stronger with your magic?"

I thought back on all the amazing things my mother could do and quickly nodded. "Yes. Teach me, master."

He grinned and tapped his metal staff on the ground. "Good. Then let us begin."

Draven took me to many remote places across Fiore. He taught me how to fight and grow stronger with my shadow magic. Months of training and traveling turned into years. As I grew, so did my magic power.

I often had visions as well. Draven would always ask me what they were about, as if everything I saw was a matter of life and death. I didn't think much of it at the time, but as he continued to train me, I began to question his intentions.

One day, when I was only 13, I saw something that would change everything. It started like any other day. Draven was training me at the Worth Woodsea. I had just successfully pulled off a new spell that seemed to impress Draven.

"Very well done, Freya. Your magic is growing stronger. You have learned yet another of the ancient spells your mother once knew."

"If I may ask, master, why do I need to learn these dangerous old spells?"

He frowned slightly. "Freya, these spells are powerful. While they can be dangerous in the hands of someone who is reckless and inexperienced, they can be valuable to someone qualified to use them. Like you, my dear."

"But for what purpose would I ever use them?" I asked.

He placed a hand on my head and smiled. "Because you may be able to make good use of them and possibly even change the world."

That night, I sat on a stump and stared up at the stars. I still get a weird feeling about all this. Like Draven is hiding something from me. As I thought about it, I suddenly had a vision.

Draven and I stood alone in a land covered in darkness. No light of any kind could be seen. Plants and animals died while beasts of darkness rose up around us, waiting to obey our commands.

My eyes were wide and the vision faded. No, this can't be right. Is that why Draven is teaching me all of this? A loud caw snapped me out of my thoughts.

I looked up in a nearby tree to see Corvus, Draven's pet raven. I knew Draven must've sent him out to get me. I stood and made my way back with Corvus flying above me.

Once I got back, Draven seemed slightly annoyed at me. "How many times have I told you, Freya, don't wander off at night."

"I know. I'm sorry."

It became eerily quiet between us and he suddenly asked, "What's on your mind?"

I averted my gaze and rubbed my arm. "Uh, well...I had a vision! It was terrible! The two of us stood alone in a world covered in darkness! Please tell me that's not going to happen!"

He stood quietly before suddenly bursting into wicked laughter. "Oh, Freya! That isn't terrible, and that's exactly what's going to happen! Why do you think I've been teaching you these spells?! It's so you can help me achieve a perfect world of darkness and shadows!"

I stared at him in shock. He moved behind me and placed his hands on my shoulders. I could see his face next to mine.

"Just picture it, a world that we could control and rule. No one will stand in our way. Everyone will learn to fear and obey us, or perish. Doesn't it sound wonderful?"

I quickly jerked away from him and yelled, "No, it doesn't! That sounds like a nightmare! I'm not going to help you and you can't make me!"

He smirked. "Oh, but you will. You saw it yourself. It is your fate, and you cannot run from fate."

"I can try!" I yelled and quickly merged with the shadows.

I got as far away as I could. As I ran, I saw yet another vision. This one showed Draven destroying my hometown. It took days but I finally made it back there, but it was already too late.

Draven beat me here. All that was left of the town was piles of rubble and debris. With tears forming in my eyes, I fell to my knees.

"This is all my fault. I should've been here. I should've never left in the first place. I never even got to tell Bixlow about any of this."

Among the debris, I found an old cloak. I put it on and quickly left. Draven doesn't want me to have anywhere to run to. But that doesn't matter.

I will continue to run. I will continue to hide. No matter what it takes, I will not let him catch me. I won't let him use my power for evil. I will do whatever it takes to change my fate along with the rest of Fiore.
