Chapter 25
I see...him. Standing before me is my former master. He smirked at me in a way that sent chills up my spine.
"Freya? You okay?"
I was snapped out of the vision and back into reality. I noticed Evergreen, Freed, and Laxus all staring at me while Bixlow came closer with a slight frown.
"Yeah, I'm fine," I replied and forced a smile.
Bixlow placed his hands on the sides of my face. "You sure?"
I nodded and decided to quickly change the subject. "Thanks again, Laxus, for taking us here."
He smiled and replied, "Don't mention it. When you said you'd never been to Hosenka Town, I knew it would be a nice change to bring you all here."
It's true. The five of us spent the whole day in this little spa town. It was truly relaxing and a nice chance to spend time with my team without being on a mission.
"And I assume you enjoyed being in the Fantasia Parade last night?" Freed asked.
I smiled and nodded. "I did. It was a lot of fun."
"I still can't believe I didn't win the Miss Fairy Tail Contest," Evergreen angrily said.
The rest of us just sighed at her and remained quiet. Freed and Evergreen insisted on having some tea, so we all sat down in a circle on the floor and had tea.
While sipping my drink, my mind went back to that vision. Draven is going to find me. There's no changing that. A frown made its way onto my lips. Once I finished, I stood and went outside.
I sat myself on a flat rock. Feeling the cool, night breeze blow, I hugged my arms. These robes they give us aren't as warm as they look.
I soon heard the sliding screen door open and turned my head to see Bixlow. I noticed his babies weren't with him. He came over and sat beside me.
"I knew it. Something is wrong."
"N-Nothing's wrong," I quickly lied. "I just wanted some fresh air."
He suddenly snaked his arm around me and pulled me closer. "Come on, I know something's wrong. Just tell me what's on your mind."
I sighed in defeat. "Draven's going to find me. I know it. There's no escape."
"Freya," Bixlow said while grabbing my chin and forcing me to meet his gaze. "Listen to me. It doesn't matter if he finds you. He can't force you to use your magic. Besides, I won't let him anywhere near you."
He quickly pushed his lips onto mine. I immediately kissed back and wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him closer. I felt his tongue slip past my lips and overtake my mouth.
I quietly moaned and gasped upon feeling his hand trail down from my chin and toward my chest. I could feel his fingertips make contact with my skin as he slipped his hand past the collar of my robe.
"Well look what we have here."
We quickly pulled apart and looked to see Laxus in the doorway with his arms crossed and a grin on his face. "I was just coming to tell you two that we're heading to bed."
Bixlow took my hand and stood us up. We followed Laxus back inside. With the lights already off and Freed and Evergreen in their little beds, Laxus went to his while I shared with Bixlow.
I climbed in and laid against him. He wrapped his arms around me and kissed my head. We said our goodnights and I quickly found myself just laying there.
This is where I feel the safest. In Bixlow's arms. But I don't think even he can save me from the future that haunts me. The next morning, Bixlow and I went for a walk. I didn't get much sleep last night, but I hid my tiredness from the others.
"Freya, baby, are you feeling okay? You seem a bit tired."
I looked over at Bixlow and squeezed his hand while forcing a small smile. "I'm fine, Bixlow. Don't worry."
He let out an annoyed sigh. "You're thinking of him again, aren't you?"
I frowned and looked down at the ground. "Yeah."
There was a sudden gust of wind that brought my attention to the darkening sky. What's happening?
"Well, look who we have here."
I gasped and my eyes grew wide at the familiar voice. I spun around to see him. My master, Draven. With Corvus perched on the top of his staff, he grinned at me.
"Sweet, little Freya. How nice to finally see you again."
I noticed that Gwyneira stood by his side. If she's here, then I know Draven has something up his sleeve.
"W-What are you doing here?" I stuttered out.
He chuckled and said, "What a ridiculous question. You're the one who told me to come and get you myself."
Bixlow stepped in front of me protectively. "Keep away from her!"
Draven's grin never left his face. "My, my, this must be the friend you mentioned all those years ago."
I trembled slightly. How does he know that? I remember now why I was always so afraid of him. He seems like he knows everything about me. Not to mention I could never beat him in a fight.
"Come on now, Freya. It's time to go."
Bixlow yelled, "She's not going anywhere with you and I won't let you hurt her! Baryon Formation, babies!"
Bixlow's babies circled in front of him momentarily before shooting a powerful beam at Draven. The white-haired man continued to grin.
"Dark Deflect," he muttered.
Bixlow's attack went around Draven, missing him. Draven frowned slightly.
"If you're going to get in my way, boy, then I'll take care of you first. Dark Capriccio!"
Draven shot a beam from his staff right at Bixlow. "X-Formation, babies!"
His babies formed an x-shape to block the attack. My eyes grew even wider at this. It won't work. Draven's too strong. Everything seemed to go in slow motion.
The beam hit Bixlow's babies and shattered them, allowing the beam to hit Bixlow. He was sent crashing into the side of a building before hitting the ground.
"Bixlow!" I cried out.
"Dark Grab."
Before I could even move, large, black hands shot up from the ground at my feet and grabbed me. I was lifted off the ground and turned to face Draven. My body shook with fear as he came closer.
"Gwyneira, do it now," he commanded.
Gwyneira approached me and said, "Ice Slave."
I watched her hands move and felt the cold air hardening around my neck. I squeezed my eyes shut and struggled against the collar. Once she finished, I could feel the thick collar on my throat and feel my mind slipping.
"F-Freya...no," I could hear Bixlow say.
I wanted to turn my head to look at him. To flash him a smile and let him know that I would be okay. But my body refused to let me.
Bixlow's pov
I struggled to get up to help Freya. But that attack left me vulnerable after shattering my babies. All I could do was sit here and watch.
Gwyneira created a collar of ice around Freya's neck. After a moment, Freya's struggles ceased and the dark hands released her. She stood on her feet, but made no effort to even look at me.
Draven smirked. "Good. Now come on, we're going."
Gwyneira grinned slightly and said, "Freya, say goodbye to your friend."
Freya finally turned her head to look at me. But I was only met with empty, emotionless eyes. That Ice Slave spell, I think it allows the user command over the target.
"Goodbye," Freya muttered.
The three of them disappeared in a small flurry of dark-colored snow. I clenched my fists and hit the ground in anger. Damn it. I couldn't protect her like I promised.
I have to get up. I have to go get the others. Laxus will know what to do. Just hang on for now, Freya.
