Chapter 13

Bixlow's pov

Freya. She's so beautiful. I can't believe what an amazing woman she's become. I could keep her here in my arms forever.

I looked down at her to see her eyes were closed. I smiled to myself. She's fallen asleep. After a short while, the blizzard outside began to die down. Guess I better wake her up.

"Freya, baby, wake up."

"Wakey wakey!"

Freya's pov

I woke up to the voices of Bixlow and his babies. I slowly opened my eyes and looked around. I looked up at Bixlow to see him smiling down at me.

"Bixlow? How long was I asleep?"

"Not long. But the storm has died down. Wanna continue up the mountain now?"

I nodded and stood up. "Yeah, we still need to find those herbs. Should be easier now."

Bixlow got up and we left the cave and began walking once again. It wasn't long before we came to an open field. I gasped and grinned.

"These must be the herbs. Let's pick some and go."

Bixlow and I picked a few herbs, but a sudden gust of wind caused us to freeze momentarily. We then spun around to see a large, white wyvern flying down toward us.

"A blizzardvern?!" I cried out. "You've gotta be kidding me!"

The beast let out a roar and landed among the field of herbs. It seems really angry at us. Seeing the large creature, I got an idea and grinned.

"I think I just found our ride off the mountain."

Bixlow looked at me in utter confusion and surprise. "What are you talking about?! You expect to just jump on that thing's back and have control over it?!"

I flashed him a smirk and answered, "Yep. Hold the herbs."

Without taking my eyes off the blizzardvern, I held the herbs I picked out to Bixlow. Feeling him take them from me, I then strolled over to the reptile.

I calmly stood before the growling beast. It stared down at me before finally lunging forward in an attempt to bite me. I jumped up, dodging the creature and made my way up its snout and head.

I seated myself on the lizard's neck and held onto its thick scales as it violently shook around in an attempt to throw me off.

"Shadow Bind!"

Long, thin shadows shot up from the ground around the blizzardvern. The shadows wrapped around its legs, wings, tail, head, and snout. The white-scaled wyvern thrashed around again, causing me to frown.

"You sure are a tough one," I stated. "Settle down already, you overgrown salamander!"

I tightened the Shadow Bind, causing the blizzardvern to finally collapse. The thin shadows then imprinted themselves into the reptile's scales.

The beast slowly stood up in a completely calm and submissive state. I smiled and gave it a gentle pat.

"There now, that's a good boy."

I looked over at Bixlow to see him staring with his mouth wide open. I smirked and led the creature over to him before making it crouch down.

I told Bixlow, "Climb on. We're getting off this mountain."

Bixlow slowly climbed his way up until he stood behind me. "H-How did you do that?"

I laughed lightly and looked back at him. "I used a spell called Shadow Bind. It allows me to temporarily tame beasts."

I pat the creature again, signalling for it to take off. It flapped its massive wings and left the snowy ground. I noticed Bixlow still standing with his arms crossed and a grin plastered on his face.

"That is really cool, baby!"

"So cool! So cool!"

I smiled and explained further, "Yeah, but as you can see, it does take a bit of time to wear them down until they submit. The shadows that are imprinted on their bodies are proof of my command. But it doesn't work on people, only animals."

"Aww, that's too bad! But still cool! How did you learn such powerful spells?"

I frowned slightly and looked ahead. "From Draven, and that was nothing compared to some of the things he taught me."

"Like what?"

"You witnessed one of them back in Clover. My Shadow Eclipse spell is an ancient and powerful one. It's one of the few I only use as a last resort. Then one..."

I looked down sadly, thinking back on the spell that I wish I'd never learned. The spell that's caused so much trouble.

I felt Bixlow's hand on my shoulder and continued, "One in particular I wish I didn't know at all. It's an ancient spell that should never be used. I...I don't even dare speak its name."

I hadn't realized how afraid I was after just thinking about that. My voice had become a bit panicked when I spoke.

"Freya, calm down," Bixlow said quietly in my ear. "That's all in the past now. It's not like you actually use it or anything."

I took a deep breath and slowly nodded. "I know. You're right. Thanks, Bixlow."

Seeing Mt. Hakobe behind us, I had the blizzardvern take us down. Once it landed, we both hopped off of it and I pet its snout.

"Thank you, friend. Now go home and rest."

The blizzardvern roared and spread its wings, taking off back to the mountain. The Shadow Bind should wear off by the time it gets back. With the herbs in hand, Bixlow and I quickly headed back to Magnolia.

We quickly found the mage who had requested the herbs. It was a young girl who was training to one day join a guild. She gave us our reward, 100,000 jewels, and happily left to train some more.

Bixlow and I headed back to the guild and noticed that Freed and Evergreen were back. We walked over to them and Freed looked us up and down.

"I'm assuming you two have been to Mt. Hakobe."

Before I could reply, Bixlow cut in front of me, grinning and sticking his tongue out. "Yeah! It was awesome! You two should've been there! We fought vulcans and even rode a blizzardvern back down the mountain!"

Freed and Evergreen both stared at us with wide eyes. They looked completely shocked by that last part.

"Rode a blizzardvern?! How?!" Evergreen yelled.

Before Bixlow could explain, Evergreen held a hand up and interrupted, "Wait. Why don't we all go to Magnolia Public Bath so we can relax and talk?"

I nodded and stretched my arms. "Sounds good to me."

The four of us headed over to the building and split up. I followed Evergreen to the women's bath. We both undressed and got in, relaxing in the warm water. I let out a sigh of content.

"So, tell me about your mission, Freya."

I smiled. "Well, we had to deliver some magic herbs to a young wizard. Bixlow and I got lost in caves and chased by vulcans, and when we found the herbs, a blizzardvern appeared."

"The vulcans didn't give you much problem, did they?"

I shook my head. "Not really. There were a lot of them that we had to run from, but then we also stumbled upon a really big one. I used my feminine charm to lure him into a trap though."

She grinned slightly. "Oh, I see. That was a smart move. When you're as beautiful as we are, you can do just about anything."

I giggled at her comment. "Then with the blizzardvern, I used a spell called Shadow Bind to temporarily tame it. We rode it back so we wouldn't have to walk all the way down the mountain."

"Very impressive, Freya. You know, we should go on some missions together," she said with a smile.

I returned the gesture and replied, "That we should."

Bixlow's pov

"It was amazing, Freed! I don't think anyone's ever ridden a blizzardvern before, but we sure did! Thanks to that spell Freya used! She's so amazing!"

Freed seemed to chuckle slightly. "Yeah, I know. She's really something. I bet Laxus will want to hear about her magic when he gets back from his mission."

I nodded. "I bet! And then there was the thing with the vulcans! She used her charm to seduce them and lure them into a trap!"

With his arms crossed, Freed calmly nodded. "That's understandable. She is quite beautiful."

With the steam from the bathwater already heating up my face, I let my tongue hang out and said, "I'll say."

Freed seemed to smirk at me and said, "You've really fallen for her."

My grin faltered for a moment at his comment. "I...I guess I have...I really have, haven't I?"

I grinned again and laughed. After a short while, we got out of the bath and got dressed. We waited in the lobby but it seemed like Freya and Evergreen weren't coming out anytime soon.

"What's taking them?" I asked.

Freed let out a small sigh. "I guess it's true that women talk a lot."

I smirked. "Well in that case, take a peek in there, babies, and tell me what you see."

My babies flew into the women's bath while Freed gave me a "seriously?" kind of look. There were suddenly a couple of small screams that caused me to laugh while my smirk widened.

My babies came back out and I asked them, "So? What'd you see?"

"Soap and steam! Wet skin! Lots of curves!"

I chuckled, stuck my tongue out, and replied, "Good job, babies! That puts a nice image in my head!"

Freya and Evergreen soon came out fully clothed with frowns on their faces. Freya's face was quite red and she seemed to glare at me.

"Bixlow!"

I shrugged. "What? All I did was tell my babies to go and get you. We're the one's who had to wait for you two."

Evergreen placed her hands on her hips. "Yeah, right. That was uncalled for. Come on, Freya, it's getting late and I could use a break from being around these men."

Without saying another word, Freya followed Evergreen out and back toward Fairy Hills. Freed and I also split up and headed home for the day.
