Chapter 11

"Rise and shine, Freya. Time to get up."

I slowly sat up and yawned, seeing Evergreen standing beside me. I looked around, once again seeing the statues and potted plants that adorned the room. I then looked up at Evergreen, who was already dressed.

"Good morning, Evergreen. Are we heading to the guild?"

She nodded. "Yep. So get ready so we can go. We can get breakfast once we get there."

"Alright."

I got up and went to the bathroom. I changed out of the nightgown Evergreen let me borrow and into my now clean clothes. I brushed my long, black hair and fixed myself up before exiting the bathroom.

I, of course, grabbed my black cloak and tied it around me while following Evergreen out. We left Fairy Hills and went straight to the guild.

Going inside, there weren't that many people present. I guess because it's still early. The two of us went and sat down and ordered some breakfast. While waiting for our food, I suddenly heard footsteps behind me.

I looked back to see Bixlow standing behind me with a grin. "Morning, baby. How'd you sleep?"

"Great, thanks," I replied with a smile.

Freed and Laxus, who came in with Bixlow, sat across from me while Bixlow once again took the seat beside me. When Mirajane brought us our breakfast, she flashed me a closed eye smile.

"So are you planning to take a job today, Freya?"

I nodded. "You bet. I need to get to work if I want to earn any money."

"Well I suggest taking something easy to start out with. You know, just until you get the hang of things."

I shrugged my shoulders and replied, "I suppose so. I'm sure I'll find something that'll suit me."

Laxus calmly said, "Well good luck, Freya. I'll be off on an S-class mission so I won't be here for a while."

I gave a simple nod in understanding. After our breakfast, Laxus took his job request and left. I found myself standing in front of the request board with the Thunder Legion.

I scanned over the different jobs to see if I could find one that stood out to me. The first one that really caught my eye was a request to hunt a wyvern for 300,000 jewels.

I grinned slightly and pointed to it. "I think I like the sound of that one."

Bixlow leaned closer to look at it before frowning. "No way, Freya! You're supposed to pick something easy to start with!"

"Something easy!"

I frowned slightly. "But that is easy...oh, never mind. Why don't you pick a job for me then?"

His frown quickly turned into a grin. "You got it, baby!"

He started looking over the jobs while I crossed my arms and huffed in annoyance. This is kind of ridiculous. I can totally take on a wyvern. Bixlow soon pointed to a job.

"How about this one?"

I read over it and frowned. "Oh, come on! You've gotta be kidding! Babysitting?! Seriously?!"

He shrugged. "Hey, it's simple and it's safe."

"And it only pays 20,000 jewels!" I yelled at him.

After a moment, I sighed, knowing there was no way out of it. "Fine, I'll take it."

"I think I'll tag along too," he told me.

I rose an eyebrow and questioned him, "You? Babysit?"

"I'm not doing the job, you are. I'm just going to be there to see how you do."

I rolled my eyes. "Whatever. Let's go."

Before I could leave, Evergreen grabbed my arm, forcing me to stop and look back at her. "I'm going on a mission too, so if I don't make it back today, you can still go back to my room at the dorm."

I smiled. "Okay."

She let me go and I took the job and left with Bixlow. He quietly followed me as I went down a few streets in search of the house. I soon found it and knocked on the door. I was quickly greeted by a couple who seemed to look at me in confusion.

I smiled at them and said, "Hi, I'm Freya. I'm here for the job request."

The man seemed to frown slightly. "I don't think I've ever seen you before."

"Oh, I'm new to Fairy Tail. This is my first job."

The woman looked up at Bixlow questioningly. "I never thought of someone like Bixlow taking a job like this."

I quickly shook my head. "No, no, you've got the wrong idea. I'm taking the job. He's just here to...supervise me on my first job, that's all."

The man then smiled and replied, "Well then, come on in."

We both stepped inside to see a little boy playing with some building blocks on the living room floor. The woman went upstairs and came back down with a baby in her arms.

"That over there is Lief and this is Lily."

I smiled as she handed the baby girl to me. "Hi, Lily. Aren't you a cutie."

The woman smiled and explained, "We're actually going out for our anniversary. We'll be back tonight. Oh, and I left a small list for you in the kitchen. We're counting on you."

"Don't you worry, I'll take good care of them. See you later."

I watched the couple leave with smiles on their faces. With Bixlow standing by quietly, I went over to where Lief still played on the floor. He looked up at me with big brown eyes.

"Hi, Lief," I said with a smile. "My name's Freya. I'll be looking after you until your parents get back, okay?"

He nodded and grinned. "Okay! Do you wanna play with me?"

"That sounds like fun, but I need to take care of your little sister first."

He frowned a little. "Oh, okay."

I ruffled his blond hair and went to the kitchen with Lily still in my arms. I picked up the note on the counter to see it was basically a list of when I should feed, bathe, and put the kids to bed.

"Easy," I mumbled to myself. "It'll be snack time here soon."

I went back to the living room to see Lief still playing with his toys. I went over to him and sat on the floor in front of him, sitting Lily down beside him. I noticed Bixlow plop down on the couch and quietly watch us.

I smiled at the children and said, "Alright, who wants to play?"

I stacked up some building blocks with Lief while Lily watched in fascination, occasionally giggling at us. After a short while, I glanced at the clock and stood up.

"Okay, you two, snack time."

Lief immediately jumped up from his spot and I picked up Lily. With Lief grabbing my free hand, I walked to the kitchen. I sat the two down in their little seats and grabbed a box of animal crackers for Lief.

He quickly began eating while I grabbed some baby food for Lily. I sat in front of her and spoon fed her. She eagerly ate every bit with no fuss. Once they finished, we went back to the living room with Bixlow.

I spent almost all day playing with the two. And later that evening, it was time for supper before baths and bedtime. I spoon fed Lily while Lief ate his meal.

Once they were done, I carried Lily toward the stairs. "Bathtime, Lily. Bixlow, can you keep an eye on Lief for a bit?"

He grinned. "Sure thing, baby!"

Bixlow's pov

I watched as Freya went upstairs with the baby in her arms. Lief suddenly looked up at me in slight confusion.

"Hey, mister Bixlow, can we play a game?"

I shrugged and said, "Why not? What'cha wanna play?"

"Hmm, how about tag? I bet you can't catch me!"

"Bet I can! Better run, kid!"

Lief began laughing as I playfully chased him around the room, purposefully letting him stay ahead of me. I soon stopped upon seeing Freya come back down. She smiled at me before looking at Lief.

"Lief, your turn for a bath."

What?! But I don't want a bath!" he yelled.

"Come on, Lief, you've got to get a bath before bed."

Lief suddenly grinned and said, "Only if you can catch me!"

"Lief, this isn't a game!" Freya yelled before chasing after him.

Lief ran around the couch to keep away from her. I watched her as she finally stopped and climbed over the couch in an attempt to reach the boy on the other side.

With Lief quickly running out of her reach, Freya sat there for a moment to catch her breath. I smirked and crossed my arms at the position she was in. Her butt was the only thing I could see in front of me while she hung over the couch.

"Wow! What a nice view back here!" I said loud enough for her to hear.

"Nice view! Nice view!" my babies stated.

Freya almost immediately stood up straight again and sent me a quick glare with a slightly red face. We were quickly interrupted by crying. We both looked to see Lief on the floor, crying as he held his knee.

Freya quickly rushed over to him. "Lief! Are you okay?!"

"I...I fell down... My knee hurts!" He cried between sobs.

Freya carefully looked at his knee before smiling at him. "You're okay, Lief. It's okay."

She bent down and kissed his knee. His crying ceased and he wiped his watery eyes before smiling up at Freya.

"Thanks. That's what my mom does."

"Come on, let's get you cleaned up and tucked into bed."

He nodded and she picked him up and went back upstairs. I sat back down on the couch and waited. Freya's surprisingly pretty good with kids. You wouldn't think it by the way she acts around everyone else.

This reminds me of when we met her back in Onibus. She was so kind to that sick kid. It's like she has a completely different side when it comes to children.

Not long after, the couple returned home and Freya came back down. She smiled and pointed her thumb upstairs.

"Lief and Lily are asleep."

The woman smiled happily and said, "Thank you so much. I hope they weren't any trouble."

"Oh no, they were little angels."

The man paid Freya and the two of us left. As we walked down the dark street I looked over at Freya who stared down at the jewels in her hand.

"So how did you like your first job?" I asked.

She glanced up at me and smiled. "It was...fun. The pay wasn't that great, but it's a start. Maybe tomorrow I'll pick something more challenging."

I grinned. "Well then how about I start accompanying you on missions? We can be partners."

"Aren't you already on a team?" she questioned.

"Yeah, but I consider you a member of the Thunder Legion now."

Her eyes seemed to widen slightly before a smile spread across her lips. We soon parted ways and headed home for the night.
