Chapter 2: Settling In and New Visitors
Welcome back to The Future of Hufwe Makto!! Last chapter we introduced the kids!! But don't worry, once I get my hands on the actual book, I will do some hardcore editing to everything, but until then, I'm waiting. I'll just do my own thing until I get my hands on the first volume of The High Ground. Then and only then, will I do some editing!
(Siera's POV-Hell's Gate)
I wince softly as Max once again draws blood from me. I learned that since we're Na'vi, we can't breathe in the air of Hell's Gate on the inside of the facility, so we need these AAS-RO2 Atmos Adaptation System, which is similar to a rebreather unit that the humans wear, only we have to "sip" at these things every two minutes. It's supplementary carbon dioxide, so it helps us in the long run. Max then gives me an actual breathing mask to place over my nose and mouth, same with Alex and Jake as they walk in.
"You guys are gonna kill me one of these days," Max says as he continues to type away at his computer. "But don't worry, Siera, I will find out what is going on with your blood and why it's acting differently, despite you being Na'vi now. Why didn't you come to me sooner about this though? You could've done this maybe after you transferred to your Avatar permanently?" I shrug my shoulders.
"Don't matter ta me," I say. "Really doesn't. All I know of the blood is tha' it's darker than most, an' it reminds me of a clan that was once killed off, but I can't remember the name fer the life a' me." Max just rolls his eyes and remarks,
"Shouldn't you be training as Tsahik, now?" I shake my head at him.
"Not yet," I answer, my eyes on him. "I'll wait till Mo'at is willin' ta train me first, then an' only then will I train as Tsahik." Jake looks at me.
"We should head back," he says. "This blood test of yours could take a while at best." Alex nods, agreeing with him.
"I agree with Jake, Angel," he says. "We should go." I nod then I turn back to Max.
"Thank yah fer doin' this," I say to him. "I don't know what could've happened otherwise." Max just chuckles and says,
"It's no problem, Siera. Now go, get out of here, all of you." Jake and Alex chuckle, then they leave, and I follow them out. I take off the mask and put it away as soon as we're back outside. We then head back to Hometree.
(Hometree)
Once we're back at Hometree, Alex and I look up to see that night is upon us, I didn't realize how long we were at Hell's Gate for. Sighing softly, I walk up to where Kai'lani, Sutko, Seina and Artut are chatting with Kiri, Neteyam and Lo'ak. Tuktirey however is nowhere in sight. Jake then looks at his sons.
"Where's your sister?" He asks Lo'ak. Lo'ak blinks his eyes at his father before he answers,
"She's with Grandma Mo'at, for what reason, I'm not sure of yet." Jake just nods before he ruffles Kiri's hair as he kisses her head. I wrap an arm around Kai'lani before turning to Seina.
"I talked ta Jake," I say to her. "Lo'ak an' yerself are doing Iknimaya again tomorrow morning. Be ready, Seina." Seina nods her head at me before she says in Na'vi,
"You can count on me, Mother." I give her a nod. I smile at her and kiss her head gently as my husband takes my hand.
"Siera? Are you ready for Seina's Iknimaya tomorrow?" He asks me.
"Of course I am, Alex," I say to him. "Why do yah ask?" He blinks at me as he answers,
"I worry for her. More than ever. She was born blind, and....—I cut him off.
"Alex, it's okay. Seina will be fine." Alex nods as he kisses my head. Jake then looks at me.
"Neytiri and I came up with something," he says. "If Lo'ak and Seina complete their Iknimaya and tame their Ikrans successfully, then we will go on a double night date. Without the kids." I grin.
"Aye," I say to him. "I agree." Jake then turns to Neytiri.
"I don't like her hanging around him," Neytiri says. I blink my eyes. At first, I think it's Kai'lani and Neteyam.
"What do yah mean?" I ask. "Kai'lani and Neteyam are a good pair. I wouldn't be shocked if she were chosen ta be Tsahik, and he was chosen as the next clan leader." Neytiri shakes her head.
"Not Kai'lani and Neteyam, I mean Kiri and that....human boy." She says. Ohhhh......that's who she means. I shake my head at her.
"Neytiri, they're jus' kids," I tell her. "Spider is a fine boy, I think he gets along well with Kiri." Neytiri hisses.
"I don't trust him," she says. "Especially around my daughter." Jake sighs.
"You can't blame the kid for anything, Neytiri," he says to her. "He's done nothing." Neytiri blinks rapidly at her mate. I nod, agreeing with him. Neytiri looks at me, shocked I'm taking her mate's side.
"Look, the humans that have remained, they're nothin' like the RDA," I tell her. "They're like the Na'vi, they want to live in a free Pandora. That's all they want. I think that's what Spider wants as well." Neytiri huffs.
"I still don't trust Kiri with him." She says bluntly. I sigh. I do get her point. As a mother, it is her right, her duty to protect her children. And she has four to look after, (not counting Spider since he's human). But I have children too, and I'll do my damnedest to protect them, no matter what. I'm pulled out of my reverie as Artut jumps on my back, burying his head in my thick braids.
"Tell us the story of how you and Daddy met!" He exclaims. Kai'lani rolls her eyes and tries to pry her baby brother off my shoulders.
"No," she says in Irish. "Don't tell us. We know how it ends, Ma." Artut giggles.
"How do yah know?" I say, raising an eyebrow at my oldest. Kai'lani huffs then says,
"Because we've heard it before. It's just a love story of how you and Father met. And how you were the great Hufwe Makto, who saved us from the Sky People alongside Toruk Makto." Alex chuckles as he sits at my side.
"Well, isn't that just the craziest thing I've heard from my daughter?" Alex says in Navajo. I grin. After all these years, he seems to have picked up on me speaking Navajo and Irish. Then again, so have the kids.
"Well, if I wasn't so reluctant to try and pluck the eyeballs out of ma oldest, we wouldn't be having this problem nor this conversation, would we now?" I spit to Kai'lani. She whirls on me then, staring me in the eyes.
"Ah," I say before she can open her mouth. "Not another word out of yah, young lady. Now, I'm gonna put yer siblings ta bed, yer on babysitting duty till we get back." I can hear the groan coming from Kai'lani after I say that, which makes me chuckle.
"Sorry," Alex says. He picks up Artut, who had fallen asleep, luckily, Neteyam had said something otherwise. "But your mother's right, you're the oldest, it's your job to keep the family in line until we get back." I then narrow my eyes at her.
"An' no startin' fights with Artut, I mean it," I hiss. "I will put yah over ma knee an' beat yer arse bloody red if yah do." Ever since she turned fourteen years old, Kai'lani has been starting fights with Artut for absolutely no reason whatsoever. Honestly, I get it, she gets her attitude from me, but she doesn't have to take it out on the youngest. She's the oldest, she's supposed to be looking after her younger siblings, not starting fights she knows she nor Artut can win. Kai'lani mumbles something under her breath, but with a lash of my tail, it shuts her up pretty quickly. With another sigh, I walk away, watching Alex as he puts Artut in bed, then we walk away.
Finally, a break from the kids. I stretch my arms as my tail flicks behind me. Alex chuckles and picks me up, and I laugh in his arms. He then pulls me in for a kiss, which I gladly accept. I purr loudly, smiling. I then call Tsu'llu, my Ikran, then do shayalu, climbing on her bare back as my fingers wrap around the harness then take off. The bioluminescent plants glow, not to mention the green lights of my Ikran's scales have taken a glow as well, I have to smile as I watch this. I then hear a bird call and I turn to Alex as he flies his Ikran right at my side. Grinning, I steer Tsu'llu close to Ieyte, letting the wings continue to beat. After a bit of flying, we land near a pool of water. We jump in, and we decide to swim for a bit. I then pop my head out of the water, my braids sticking to the sides of my head.
"Alex?" I ask, looking around. I then realize he hasn't surfaced from the water. I look around a bit more, trying to keep myself calm, and not panic at this point. Then he resurfaces, laughing as he takes my hands in his, twirling me.
"Gotcha," he says, laughing. "I love you." I chuckle, my eyes on his as he kisses me again, connecting our queues together as I gasp softly in pleasure. I gasp again as he picks me up in his arms, placing me in his lap as he sits up on his knees. I chuckle, pulling away.
"Should we be on land fer this?" I ask him. "As much as I like swimming in the water, I don't think ma knees will agree with me on the rocks." Alex chuckles but gets my meaning quickly cause he picks me up once again, and steps out of the water, only for him to place me down. I look at him, shocked.
(Lemon Scene Abound!!! Don't like, don't read!! Those with a dirty mind, enjoy!!)
Alex purrs as his tail tightens around my thigh after it unknowingly wraps itself around my leg. I shiver, my entire body trembling as I look Alex in the eyes. He then takes off my necklace and loincloth, as he kisses me, burying his fingers through my braids. Gasping, I arch my back, my bare chest pushing against his. I then reach for his blade sheath, taking it off, then with a racing heart and trembling fingers, I take off his loincloth to see that his member has swelled.
"Thinkin' a' me?" I ask him. Alex chuckles as he kisses me again, and now it's my turn to run my fingers through his hair. I shiver as Alex kisses me, then slides his member into me, grunting softly as his nails dig into the ground beneath me. By the All Mother, even after all we've done, he still knows how to rile me up in ways. He then looks down at me, genuine concern written on his face.
"You okay?" He asks me. He knows it's been a while since we've done this, but I just kiss him, and say to him,
"Watch it." He just chuckles and says to me,
"You're one sexy dirty woman, aren't ya, my love?" I shiver at his words as he kisses me, moving his hips faster. He has definitely picked up on both the languages of Irish and Navajo after all these years, which I'm entirely grateful for.
I don't know how long we go at it for, all I know is that we ended up doing almost every position known to man, and I didn't think Alex could be as skilled as he has. But nonetheless, I can't help but purr. I smile as Alex pulls away from me with a pant, then smiles, kissing me.
"How was that for pleasure?" He asks me. I roll my eyes and say to him,
"Not bad. Despite the fact I already have four kids, I don't need a fifth." Alex chuckles.
"Come on, don't you want to expand our family a bit more?" He asks. I raise an eyebrow.
"Really? We'll end up like Jake and Neytiri at this rate," I say to him. "I think four kids is enough fer me, an' yah know it." Alex nods.
"Okay," he says. "If you say so, my love." He kisses me, his tongue swirling with mine as he pulls on my braids again, making me gasp.
(Lemon Scene End)
After a bit, we just lie there, cuddling on the ground. Then, I hear a call from Jake as the communication collar on my neck is filled with static, then his voice breaks through.
"This is Devil Dog to Devil One, how copy, over?" He says. I get up from my spot as I look at Alex, who sits up as well.
"This is Devil One, what's the situation, over?" I ask him, my fingers hovering on the comms. Jake's voice seems a bit scratchy over comms, but he finally says,
"Be advised, Devil One, we have ships inbound, I repeat, ships inbound." I turn to look at Alex again, fear in my eyes.
"Devil Dog, what ships are these?" I ask, my voice trembling.
"Devil One, I think these are the same ships that we came in on when we first came here, over." My eyes widen in shock and I turn to Alex. No sooner do I look up do I see the strange light in the sky, indicating the humans' return to Pandora.
"Devil One?" I hear the comms again, but I don't pick up again, scared for my family, my children.
"Alex, the kids," I say. He nods and takes my hand. "We have ta go back." Alex then presses the comms.
"Devil Dog, this is Devil Two, Devil One and I are on the way back. Sip-rep on the kids?" At first, there's silence on the other end, and my worry grows.
"Devil Dog? Sip-rep on the kids, how copy, over?" I ask. My tail flicks behind me in worry.
"Devil One, Devil Two, be advised, the nest is empty." Jake says after a bit. The nest? Shit, that means...
"The kids are gone?!" I screech. Alex grasps my shoulder, but I shove him away, a snarl in my throat.
"Devil Dog, this is Devil One. I'm twenty klicks away from the nest. By flight, I'll make it back to the nest. ETA ten mikes." Jake sighs and says,
"Copy that, Devil One. Devil Dog out." He hangs up comms, then I climb on Tsu'llu and take off flying. Alex follows me on Ieyte.
"Siera, slow down, please!" Alex pleads. I turn to him, my worry spiking so that Tsu'llu can sense my worry through the bond.
"If the kids are gone, I don't know what I can do, Alex!" I screech, Tsu'llu's wings flapping against the gusts of wind that are hitting my face.
"We'll worry about the kids when we get back home, but right now, clear your mind." Alex says. I turn to him with a growl.
"Easy for yah ta say," I hiss at him. "Yer not a mother who has ta worry fer her kids." Alex pulls Ieyte closer to Tsu'llu as I yank on her harness.
"Listen to me!" He yells. "They're probably fine. They're probably playing hide and seek or something." I hiss at him.
"Bullshit," I hiss. "I never taught 'em ta play." Alex doesn't answer me the entire time on the way back.
(Normal POV-Outskirts of Hometree, near the ancient battlefield)
Seina, Artut, Lo'ak, Spider, Tuktirey and Kiri slink their way through the bushes as they travel amongst the trees leading towards the Banshee Rookery.
"Come on, hurry up!" Lo'ak yells, his bow in hand. Seina pants as she follows him, tail flicking behind her.
"Lo'ak, wait up! Tuk and Artut are slower than you are, they can't keep up!" She yells at him. Artut shakes his head as he catches up to his older sister, panting.
"I'll be fine, Seina!" The seven year old says with a pant, Seina shooting her younger brother a look. Tuktirey then blinks her yellow eyes as Kiri picks her up, placing her on one of the branches before Lo'ak turns back to his siblings and adoptive cousins.
"Look," he says as he points to a Samson wrapped in vines. "Holy moly." Spider climbs up at his adoptive younger brother's side as he looks at Seina.
"We shouldn't be here," she says, as Artut blinks his yellow eyes as he walks to a dead Ikran.
"Kiri, Tuk, look." He says as he points to the dead Ikran. Kiri climbs down and takes Tuk's hand, putting her down at her side.
"How is it that you're blind, yet you can see where you're going?" Lo'ak asks Seina. Seina rolls her blind pale yellow eyes as she then says,
"Duh. I may not see, but I at least am aware of ma surroundings." She then senses as Kiri and Tuk start to pay their respects to the dead Ikran, while Lo'ak and Spider, being boys, followed by Artut, play in the cockpit of the tangled Samson. However, it's short lived, as it sways slightly, and Spider almost falls out, Artut clinging on.
"Artut!" Seina screams for her younger brother. She scrambles up the side of a tree, sensing as the Samson crashes to the floor. Smoke erupts from where it landed, and there's so much it's hard to tell whether or not Lo'ak, Spider and Artut are still on.
"Artut!" Seina screams again, tail lashing in fear. Kiri places a hand on the younger Na'vi's shoulder.
"It's okay, Seina," she says. "I'm sure they're safe." The smoke doesn't clear for a while, then out of the smoke, a human hand grasps on the edge of a cliff, pulling himself up.
"Spider!" Seina calls out, grabbing the human's hand. She pulls him up onto the surface, both children panting. Seina then turns her head, searching for Artut.
"Where is he?" She asks. When Spider doesn't answer her, she yells out, "Spider, where is ma younger brother?!" She then breaks away from him with a hiss as she heads over to the ledge where she pulled up Spider.
"Artut!" She calls out, frightened. "Baby brother!" She sobs. "He can't be.....no!" Kiri walks up to her.
"Seina, I'm sure he is still alive. Eywa wouldn't take him from us yet." She says.
(Artut's POV)
Unbelievable! I can't believe I fell for that trick of Spider's! Now Ma is gonna kill me. Wincing in slight pain, I untangle myself from the vines as I look up. The Samson has crashed, but I don't know how far it fell, nor do I know how I'm gonna climb these vines. Wait a minute, I remember Ma telling me something about this. I start to pull myself up, my legs and arms moving at a steady pace on the vine so I don't fall or get too tired. Once I'm up, I then collapse on the surface. Then and only then, do I hear rustling in the bushes. Eyes wild, I pull out my blade, my tail lashing behind me.
(Rook's POV-Warning, cursing will be involved!)
God fucking damn it! The hell? I leave for two seconds, since I'm following a blue wolf, but now, I feel like I'm damn hallucinating. I literally almost trip over a fallen vine, and I immediately mumble,
"Great.....just fucking great.....is the atmosphere making me trip balls or something? Lord help me, before I shoot myself." The wolf tilts her head, how I know it's a girl, I have no fucking idea whatsoever, but what the actual fuck. Okay, Rook, just calm down, you're hallucinating. I then grab my pistol, and as soon as I see the Samson, I yell out,
"Flash!" Just dead silence throughout the entirety of the forest for a bit then I yell out again,
"Flash!" Just before I can yell a third time, a voice calls out,
"Thunder!" The fuck? I raise an eyebrow. I then turn again.
"Flash!" I call out again, hoping that whoever answers will be there.
"Thunder!" I then look up.
Up above what seems to be a crashed Samson, is a young Na'vi boy, around six years old, tangled up in the vines. His green-gold eyes are not only filled with panic and fear, but also defiance as well.
"Who are you?" He asks. I realize he's speaking in Na'vi. Alright, time to make Aunt Steph proud. I then say to him,
"Hello, I'm not here to hurt you, I came to help. Name's Lieutenant Colonel Fisher. But you can call me Rook." The boy's eyes immediately widen, tail flicking excitedly.
"I've heard of you. Ma would speak to me about you, and to my siblings as well." I blink. The fuck? Okay, who is this kid?
"I'm not here to hurt you," I say to him in Navajo. The kid's tail flicks behind him then he says to me, surprisingly in Navajo,
"I figured. After what Ma told me about you." I blink again, shifting my pistol on my hip as I say,
"Who is your mother? And how can you speak the language of the code talkers?" The kid's eyes narrow, but he then says,
"My Ma is the great Hufwe Makto, who alongside Toruk Makto, led the clans to victory against the Sky People 14 years ago." This just got interesting. Also, seriously, Wolf? What kind of nickname is Wind Rider?
"So, your mother talked about me? She didn't tell you about Mardi Gras, did she?" Artut raises an eye ridge, and shakes his head. Sweet baby Jesus, thank you. He does not know. I hand him the pistol, and say to him,
"I know you don't trust me, but I can't blame you. But if you can," I take out the pistol and hand it to him, muzzle facing down. I then say to him,
"When you have the chance, hand this to Wolf. She'll know what it means." Artut nods and takes the pistol. He then runs off. I chuckle.
"Run, Forrest, run." I say softly, pulling out the photo of me and Wolf.
(Siera's POV-New Hometree)
I smile as I land Tsu'llu down near the new Hometree, following Jake, Neytiri, Alex and the children. I can hear Mo'at singing near the base of the tree,
"We sing to you, Elder Brother, of home and hearth and family. We beseech you, Elder Brother, to join with us, this clan, the People crave your shelter let us dwell within your arms." I then sigh softly as I follow Jake. Norm turns to us.
"You guys made it," he says. Jake nods as he pats his Ikran's head, Alex taking my hand.
"Yeah." Jake says. Norm turns his head. "Is this what I think it is?" Jake looks at him.
"I hope not." He then starts walking ahead. I blink my eyes, as Jake walks to the clan.
"I hate to rain on everybody's parade—
"Better rain than bullets." Norm tells Jake. Jake without turning his head, says,
"Exactly." Jake then walks up to Mo'at, Alex and I sighing.
"Mo'at, we need to-..." Jake starts, then Pentîyaru cuts him off,
"Sister, the circle of Elders has ruled. I will let you share the news with your people." Mo'at walks forward, then calls out,
"This Elder Brother chooses us, just as we choose him. The signs tell us that Eywa blesses this union." I grin then turn to Alex, my eyes glittering.
"The Omatikaya People have a new home!" Mo'at calls out, I then hear Neteyam say,
"Yeah!" I can also hear Kiri giggle behind me as I watch Jake wrap his arms around Neytiri, and Alex does the same to me.
"At last!" Neytiri says with a smile. Jake then turns to the children, including my four.
"Come, children, let us give thanks as a family." Neytiri says to Neteyam, Lo'ak, Kiri and Tuk. I turn to Kai'lani, Seina, Sutko, and Artut.
"Come, children." I say to them. Kai'lani smiles as she nuzzles me. I then hear Kiri say to Spider,
"Come on, Spider." Neytiri looks at Kiri and says to her,
"This is a family gathering, Kiri." Spider lifts his hand and says,
"It's okay. Sorry, Mrs. Sully." Kiri takes Spider's hand while I narrow my eyes at the kid. Kai'lani blinks her eyes as she looks at me then her father.
"Wait...." Jake says, and I look to him, so does Alex. Jake then pulls his hands away from his wife and his children and says,
"This is certainly....joyous.....news. When the Sky People return, we will be targets. We put our Elder Brother at great risk by living here." Pentîyaru then says while looking at myself and Jake,
"You have warned of this for years, Jakesully, but they have not come. Eywa drove them from our land. Perhaps they will never come. Perhaps it is all in your mind." Jake then tries to interject,
"Pentîyaru, listen to me-..." he is then cut off by Neytiri,
"Husband, now is not the time." I watch them carefully before I sigh. This will be a long night. Mo'at then walks up to us, a hand on Jake's shoulder.
"Come, everyone. Let us sing." We each take each other's hands as we finally start singing,
"We are all seeds of the Great Tree, whose strength is in our legs...like the mighty trunks, in our arms as sheltering branches..."
Later, as we're about to climb on the Ikrans, Artut comes racing up to me with a familiar gun I haven't seen in years in his hands.
"Mama! Ma! Take this," he says with a pant, while Neytiri gives me a side eye.
"What is this?" She asks. Jake narrows his eyes.
"Why did your son just give you a gun?" He asks me. I shrug my shoulders.
"Don't ask me. I have no idea." I then turn to my youngest.
"Now, sweetheart, where did yah get this from?" I ask him in Irish. Artut is quick to say,
"He said you should know what it means if I gave it ta yah." I then look down as familiar memories plus a familiar face comes to mind.
"That son of a bitch. What the hell did he do this time?" I ask. Jake narrows his eyes.
"Mind explaining who it is you're talking about?" He asks me. I nod and say,
"I have told yah bout him before, remember? Back when we were at Hell's Gate? Rook." Jake gasps.
"Now one thing is left. Can we trust him?" I nod.
"Hell yeah, we can. That is, if he decides to sleep with the enemy." Neytiri's eyes narrow.
"So, he is a traitor?" She asks. I shake my head.
"No, if anyone can go black ops undercover, it's Rook. He wouldn't give me his gun unless something bad has happened or shit's hit the fan." Jake leans back, tail flicking.
"So what do we do?" He asks. I turn to him.
"We wait. Until Rook has done what needs ta be done. Or rather, yah guys can wait. I will meet him myself." Jake's eyes widen.
"Are you absolutely batshit crazy?!" He yells. "What if he kills you?!" I whirl on him.
"Listen ta me, Rook is like a brother ta me. If anything, he's betraying the RDA." Jake rolls his eyes.
"So he's sleeping with the enemy?" He asks. I nod.
"We've done it before, on many black ops missions. None of them have ever gone in our favor though, mostly because we would either A, steal shit from the government, or B, nuke a town or country. We did that to Nigeria, it was a bloodbath. I was known as the Siren, he was known as the Reaper. We're basically wanted in like half of the country on Earth." Jake's eyes widen further.
"Jesus, you guys are psychos," he says, as I give him a grin.
"Takes one to know one, Corporal." Jake hums.
"So, when will you be seeing him?" He asks. I tap my chin before saying,
"Dawn. I will meet him at dawn tomorrow." Alex grabs my hand.
"Be careful, please." He says to me. I chuckle.
"Don't worry. He's ma brother. We'll both probably get hurt, but hey, at least he'll know I haven't been dead fer the past 14 years."
Aaaaand I'm finished with this chapter!!! Holy craznocks, that's insane!!! Anyways, yeah, see y'all in the next one!!!
