Experiment xxxvi. Believe

Everyone around the Glade was traumatized by the Map Room incident. But mostly, the one who took the most misery was, Minho. He was the Keeper of the Runners, he was the first Runner to ever decide on running out to the maze. He devoted his life on finding a way out for his fellow friends. The maps had held the key.

And now they were gone.

Only a couple survived since I had protected them but they were too ripped and smudged to read anymore; they were basically useless.

I was still being medically taken care of by the Keeper of the Medjacks; their doctors, Clint. My wounds had a second degree burn and he informed that I luckily wouldn't have a scar. But by the look on his face expression, I knew he was telling a white lie to reassure me.

I thought Clint was a nice guy.

When my injuries were healed enough for me to walk, I went outside and headed towards the place where Minho's cabin was. Slowly, I had approached the door and felt anxiety on knocking on it.

However, before my knuckles came in contact with the wood, the door flung open and there stood Minho, his eyes narrowed. His hair looked disheveled and there were dark bangs under his tired eyes. He had cried.

"N-Nike.." he whispers in shock.

I force a smile upon my face and give him a apologizing look.

"I'm so sorry, Minho." I whisper, pursuing my lips.

He shakes his head. "You have nothing to be sorry about. You did your best to save the remaining maps. That's enough for me to believe you."

My heart swelled with glee when Minho told me he believed in me. In me. I grinned and leaped into Minho's arms, burrowing myself into his bulky chest.

"Thank you, thank you, and thank you.."

Minho ruffles my hair and whispers,"No, thank you."
