Dedication/Prologue.
To the one that i love deeply and truly.
Dawn Flores was in the car with her mother,Marissa Flores and the little girl didn't know where her mother was taking her.
While her mother was driving, the little girl looked out the window as she saw that it was a beautiful and nice day today.
Dawn and her family live in Los Angeles California, but their hometown was in Winter Haven Florida and the reason why they moved was because Dawn's father passed away in a car accident as everyone was trying to get over the death of Jose Flores.
Dawn didn't know her father that much because she was just a baby,an infant when her father passed away as her granny,Denise told her grand daughter all about her biological father.
Her granny showed her picture's of him holding infant Dawn and that she was amazed by how great her father was.
He looked excalty like her and that they looked almost alike.
She had his dark,Black,Brown hair.
She had his dark,Brown eye's that would shine and twinkle whenever someone would speak up or talk to.
She even had his smile, the smile of happiness and joy to bring toward's other's who would have a bad day as she would turn that frown upside down.
And,the best for last was that Dawn had her father's personality.
Whenever Marissa would look at Dawn, she would see her father in the young girl as it made her happy and yet, upset, too.
Her mother really did miss him,but she knew that she had to step up and act like a grown adult to take care of her children.
Today,Dawn was wearing a dress with Red rose's on them and that she was wearing her sandal's along with her dress.
The little girl had her hair in a ponytail and she even had a flower clip onto her hair as well.
Her mother was wearing a Yellow shirt with pant's as she too,was wearing sandal's.
Marissa Flores had dark,Black hair like her daughter's,but both their hair's looked different from one another as she had dark,Brown eye's,just like her daughter.
Mommy, where are we going? Dawn asked, turning away from the window, while the little girl gazed at her mother.
Marissa Flores was a thicc woman and that everytime whenever she went out in public or going to the store, men would be drooling, flirting, and looking at her.
Her mother didn't mind getting the attention, but she wasn't ready to be in a relationship just yet.
She was just waiting for the right moment and the right time to come.
You didn't know? Your going to school today,it's your first day of school at daycare.
With a puzzled look forming upon the little girl's face, she didn't like or know anything about daycare.
Her mother pulled the car up to a parking spot and Dawn watched as her mother got out of the car to open her daughter's door.
Opening the door, her mother looked at her as she smiled and that the little girl looked at her mother.
It's okay, honey. I'm sure you'll be able to like daycare, you can be able to play with the other kid's or maybe, you might be able to make a friend or two.
Her mother took her out of her toddler car seat and got out of the car as she carefully put her daughter down gently.
When Dawn was standing on the ground with her two feet, she looked around and saw that there was a building and a sign.
The sign read Rainbow Day Care Center and the little girl heard children laughing loud as she looked up at her mom.
Mommy,wh-what is this place? I-I wanna go home...
It'll be okay, your going to love it here.
Her mother took her hand and the two started to walk up to the building and as they were walking,Dawn didn't know what to do or what to say and by the time they were walking, they finally found the daycare center that they were suppose to go to.
Mommy,i-i don't like this. Please,i want to go home!
Sweetie,it's okay. Don't worry,i'll be able to take you back home once daycare is over.
Pulling her hand away from her mother's,Dawn grabbed and held onto her mother's leg to not let go of as she was starting to get scared.
Mommy, don't leave me! I want to go with you, mommy!
Dawn,please--
No,no,no!
Now,Dawn-- Her mother was starting to lose her temper and that she glared down at her daughter, while frowning a little.
My,oh,my. Said a young woman who came walking up the daughter and mother. Hello, you must be Dawn and Marissa Flores, right?
Yes,ma'am,we are. Said Dawn's mother, while she looked at the teacher. You must be Dorothy Levings?
Yes,ma'am,that's right. Hello, you must be Dawn. The teacher said to her with a smile.
Dawn didn't say anything and that she was behind her mother's leg now as she looked at the teacher.
I'm so sorry,my daughter is a bit nervous and shy. It look's like she's a bit scared to be at daycare,it is her first time being at a daycare.
It'll be okay,Dawn. You'll really love here at Rainbow Day Care Center. The teacher assured her.
Dawn looked up at her mother and before they said their goodbye's,her mother kissed her on the cheek and waved goodbye to her daughter as the little girl had an upset look on her face.
That day, around noon,Dawn was outside with the other kid's and that she was sitting all alone, all by herself as she was watching all the kid's laughing, playing, and talking to one another as that they were all having fun.
The little girl looked down sadly and that ever since she came to daycare, she hasn't made one single friend.
Dawn thought that she was different from everyone and that she was invisible as if nobody didn't think that anybody would think that she excist or even notice her.
Alone,i'm all alone...
Little kid's were laughing and running around as if they were all having a good time while Dawn was still all alone.
Nobody doesn't even notice me,i guess nobody like's me...
I didn't make no friend's at all and i tried talking to the other kid's,but nobody didn't want to do nothing with me...
It's okay,i guess i'm better off being alone,then...
Around 2:30pm,Dawn was back home and by the time Dawn was back home,Marissa was sitting in the kitchen while her mother,Denise was making her home made tea.
Letting out a sigh, her mother turned to look at her daughter.
Are you okay? Denise asked her daughter, turning toward's her way, looking at her with concern.
Oh,mama-- Dawn didn't say much when we came back home and it look's as if to me that she didn't enjoy daycare, either.
Well,hun-- These thing's take time and it was her first day at daycare, maybe she was just nervous at daycare.
Denise Flores had dark,Brown hair with dark,Brown eye's to match her hair.
Her mother was wearing her work clothe's and Denise work's at the retirement home as she help's people in need.
Yeah, you might be right. Marissa took out a cigarette out and that she lit it as she started to smoke it.
But little did the mother and daughter didn't know was that Dawn was watching them both as she was hiding behind the wall.
The little girl saw that her mother was smoking a cigarette and that she looked up at the coat rack as she saw her Red scarf.
Reaching her hand out,she carefully took the her scarf off of the coat rack without behing seen.
Sweetie, you should really stop smoking. Denise told her daughter as she took her seat at the table across from her. You can get lung cancer.
I'm sorry.
Marissa took one last smoke and she put her cigarette out onto the ash tray.
You know,Alice was a little bit scared to go to daycare,do you remember? Denise asked her daughter.
Of course, she was really scared. But Alice is different than Dawn, she has autism.
For an autistic child, she sure isn't dumb or stupid. You can tell that she's an intelligent kid. Denise spoke the truth when she took a sip of her tea.
Rolling her eye's,Dawn walked over toward's the back door and that she reached the door knob as she carefully, quietly stepped outside.
The door clicking shut quietly, the little girl was now outside and that she saw the gate wood door.
She walked over toward's the door, unlocked the wooded door carefully, and that she stepped out of the backyard as she was free on her own.
The door closed behind her and just like that, the little girl was walking all by herself out into the world to discover and explore.
She had her Red scarf wrapped around her neck and to be clear, she really didn't need hear scarf because here in California,it was hot and that it was the middle of summer.
While walking straight ahead,Dawn wasn't so sure where she was going, but she was soon going to find out what will happen to her soon.
The little girl was walking for a few minute's and then, suddenly, she stopped walking and she knew that wandering around was a bad idea as shs knew that she had to go back home.
But,just as she turned to head back, she turned her back and saw that there was a forest a few walk's up ahead as she wondered how did she walk all the way out to end up near to a forest?
The little girl wanted to head back home, but for some reason, curiosity got the best of her and that she started walking toward's the forest.
When Dawn started walking into the forest, she looked around and saw how beautiful and lovely it was.
She could hear bird's chirping, the sunlight was reflecting and shining around and about.
Everything about the forest made Dawn feel like she was in her own little world and that she didn't want to leave just yet.
After walking for just a little bit,she stopped walking to take a break as she was looking to see how far she had walked.
It sure is big here...Dawn replied softly to herself aloud.
The wind started to blow a little bit hard and the wind made the little girl's hair brush and wave a little bit while she let out a soft exclaim.
Looking around again, the little girl was starting to wonder if she should head back home or not.
I should probably head back home, maybe coming out here was a bad--
"Grrrrr!"
Startled,Dawn gasped softly and that she heard something growling.
Hello,wh-who's there?
Gasping her air,she stood frozen in place as the little girl was starting to get scared.
When she turned to the left, her eye's wided a bit and that she saw a pack of wolve's.
The human being and the pack of wolve's were a few feet away from her as they all stayed in place, not saying a thing as if the whole world was silent.
A Brown wolf took a few step's toward's Dawn and that she backed away a little as she saw that the wolf was coming toward's her way.
The frightened little girl started to shake all of a sudden and that she didn't know what to do.
If she ran away, the wolf would probably come after her.
P-Please,don't--
The Brown wolf let out low growl and then,he started to run up to her.
Eye's wided and gasping,Dawn saw that the wolf was coming after her as she too, started to run.
While Dawn was running for her life, she wanted to turn back to see how far the wolf was coming toward's her,but she kept on running to stay focused to be safe.
The innocent little girl wasn't watching where she was going and then, all of a sudden, she fell to the ground hard.
Letting out a soft cry od whimper,Dawn turned to the wild as her eye's wided a bit and that the wolf had leaped into the air to attack her.
It was like the wolf was coming toward's her in slow motion and she knew that she good and done for.
"I'm sorry,big sister,granny,and mom..."
Somebody help me! Dawn closed her eye's tightly and that she waited for the wolf to attack her.
The little girl thought that she heard thudding noise's and when she opened her eye's,she saw that the Brown wolf was attacked by another wolf.
It was dark,Brown wolf that had attacked the Brown wolf as the little girl was relieved that she was saved.
The two wolve's bared their teeth and growled at each other as they both ran up to each other.
Backing away,Dawn saw that the two wolve's were attacking and fighting each other.
While the two wolve's were fighting, the little girl was watching them both as she heard that the wolf that saved her let out a whimper.
She saw that the wolf that saved her was limping a little as the Brown wolf glared at the other wolf and then,he turned to look at Dawn.
Dawn looked back at him and then, the Brown wolf ran off as the other pack of wolve's followed behind him, too.
Letting out a soft sigh,Dawn was safe and that the wolve's were finally gone now.
Turning toward's the injured wolf, the little girl stood up from the ground as she didn't know that her leg was bleeding a little bit.
You-You saved me. Dawn started to walk toward's the wolf. I-I don't know what to say, but, thank you. If you wouldn't have saved me in time,i would have been--
Suddenly, the wolf growled at her a little bit as she paused.
Looking down, she saw that the injured wolf was holding his paw out as she knew that he was hurt.
Are you okay? Dawn asked him. I know that your hurt, but you can trust me.
She took a few more step's toward's the wolf and that he was watching her as he didn't know if he could trust her or not.
Here-- Dawn took her Red scarf off and she came over as she then wrapped her scarf around the wolf's injured paw. There we go,that should do it. It'll make you feel better and i'm so sorry that you got hurt. This is all my fault. I--
The little girl stopped talking because the wolf came over and gave her a long lick on the cheek.
A surprised look came across her face and then, the wolf came over as he then started licking the little girl's bleeding leg.
Hehe,stop that! Th-That tickle's!
The wolf stopped what he was doing and then, his tail started to sway a little as the two both looked at one another.
Eye to eye,face to face.
Ever since that day,Dawn had finally made a new friend.
Everyday after school,Dawn would alway's go into the forest to meet her new wolf friend.
The little girl still hasn't made any friend's at daycare, but whenever daycare was over, she would be excited and happy to go see her new friend.
The two would do everything together such as explore, play, talk, and walk around.
She knew that he didn't communicate with her,but she would tell by his body language.
The little girl was giggling and running a little bit as the wolf was trying to run to catch up to her.
Hehe,you can't catch me!
The wolf was trying his best to catch up to her and all of a sudden, the little girl let out an exclaim as she fell to the ground.
Oww!
Sniffling softly,Dawn was on the verge into crying and the wolf finally approached and came toward's her as he leaned over and licked her face to make her feel better.
Giggling softly and looking at him,he looked back at her as his tail started to say.
She reached her hand out and started stroking his fur gently and softly while he was murring softly.
Thank you,Wolfie.
Carefully standing up,the little girl stood as she smiled at her friend.
Can you keep a promise?
The wolf looked up at her and that she too, looked back at him.
Will you be my friend until the end? I-I don't have any friend's and your the only friend that i only have. Your my first friend and i..don't want to be alone...Can you promise me that? Promise me that you won't leave me?
When the little girl asked the wolf her request to him,he started licking her face quickly as he promised her that he would never leave her no matter what.
Dawn came over and hugged her friend as he nuzzled her gently.
Thank you,Wolfie.
By the age of thirteen,Dawn was already walking into the forest and as she was,she was looking all over for her friend.
Huh,i guess my friend isn't here. That's so unlike of him to not come here, maybe if i wait a little longer,he might come.
The young teenage girl was waiting and waiting, and waiting, but as the sun was setting into a sunset, the teenager knew that she should go home before it would get too dark.
I guess he isn't coming,i guess i'll see him tomorrow,then..
Every single day,the teenager would go to the forest and that there would be no sign of her wolf friend as she was starting to grow concerned and worried about her dear friend.
What if he got hurt?
What if he broke his promise to her?
What if something bad has happened to him?
A lot of question's were rolling into Dawn's head and about almost a month, the teenager knew that she would soon have to give up.
Part of her wanted to believe that he would come back, but part of her didn't...
The young teenager was standing in the forest now,the wind blowing,a concerned teenager was on the verge of tearing up as she realized that she was all alone again.
Falling and kneeling down to the ground, the teenager was trying her best to hold back the tear's as she gritted her teeth a little while she had her eye's closed.
You lied, you lied to me...You promised, you promised me that you wouldn't leave me alone and now,i'm all alone again...
Tear's started to roll down Dawn's eye's and down to her cheek's and that she started to cry softly at first, but then a little loud.
Wolfie!
