Chapter Two
The outside world had viciously freezing cold winds, but a warm sun was shining brightly. Not a drop of the white snow to be seen on the alaskan trees. Many people have already went inside, those who are smart do the shopping early so the winds would be less harsh; but Amira and Catherine weren't as lucky. Amira has promised Catherine she would go shopping with her, the cold is harsh so the sisters felt more comfortable staying with each other.
The path they walked on wasn't very sturdy or large, Cars weren't recommended till the road gets redone- unless you wanted to harm your wheels.
In attempts to break the silence Amira says “Mother says to watch out for a xúnts”. Catherine laughs. They have never seen a wolf anywhere here. They both prefer to watch from far away then risk being mauled if the choice came to be
“Lets also look out for the hibernating bears then. The chances of either of them, or any animal crossing our path actually is highly unlikely” saying this as if on cue, what is known as an kagan crosses over the road in front of them. The small rodent disappeared as soon as its cover was blown.
Amira laughed and Catherine rolled her eyes, mumbling “well that’s different” then walked faster. She can make anyone smile, and can still be on task while doing so. And because of that the walk seemed to be cut in half, the shopping seemed to just fly by, including daylight. With two heavy parkas and even heavier backpacks the walk wouldn't be pleasing.
“One last place, then we shall return back” Catherine states as she takes the lead with each bouncy step, still full of energy. Her sister wasn’t as excited but also didn't falter when it comes to keeping up the pace. They left the original path to walk in the woods for a shorter route.
“Walking through the woods in the darkness, the cold seeping over-” catherine was cut off.
“Don't remind me of the details. This is already cliche enough” she did make it dramatic. The night sky was beautiful and breathtaking, how the trees swayed with the wind made the walk a stress reliever. The stars shimmered and seemed to just be so close you could grab them all…
“It’s in my eye, it's in my eye!”
Catherine was rubbing her eye with her hand. Amira looked up and saw it wasn't the stars but snowflakes gliding across the sky. Her sister looked up
“It wasn’t supposed to snow yet” Catherine whispered. her face went blank for a split second then back into her happy smile
“Oh well, we should still be able to get back if we hurry” and with that she started walking again. Amira was still gazing up into the sky watching all the beautifully detailed snowflakes drift in the wind, she can already imagine the dream coming to life. Ice crystals form over the trees, covering the Alaskan woods in a soft white blanket. The thought brought a smile to her face.
“Did you forget you have legs?”
