80.

Jin looked at the sea once again. It is that type of scene that never gets old. Sea was always mysterious and majestic to him as if it was hiding something beyond its horizon. So tranquil yet restless at the same time.
Like dear friends or dangerous enemies at once.

The light breeze was whispering in his ears now, Haenyo was rocking slowly with the modest waves.
They were so far from the shore now, so the air was fresh with a hint of salt in it.

Jin turned back and got into the secret elevator behind the fake pilothouse and came down to the operations center.

He sat in his seat quietly.

He still couldn't come up with any plan. How would they get close to frigate Sundew? How would they stop the missile? How would they rescue Arya and Jungkook? And how the hell they'd be able to come back if they don't sink the frigate?

The radar plot of Sundew was displayed on the chart. It was maintaining its original course and speed. They had no idea that Haenyo's high-tech sensor suite is watching their every move.

The frigate was going east idly with a speed of eight knots. There was another ship seen in the radar plot. That one was a tremendously huge supertanker, going in a parallel track with Sundew.

Maybe its destination was any oil terminal across the ocean.

Jin's eyes carefully watched the two ships on the radar plot for a few moments and a sudden thought flashed in his head and he almost jumped out of his seat and leaned over the radar console.

Everyone in the operations center watched him in surprise.

Jin punched the switch on the handle of his seat and started the intercom.
His voice was calm and serious, "Every officer in Haenyo, come down to the operations center. Hurry up."

The second time they dropped Jungkook on the floor, his face was all puffy and bloody. One eye was almost shut and his hairs were tangled together with clotted blood.

Jungkook spat blood-tinged spittle on the floor after they left locking the door behind.

Arya watched him in pity.
"You ok?"

"No," Jungkook tried to smile, "I don't know how much I can hold them back. When will the backup come?"

"If the backup comes even, how do you think they will rescue us?" Arya scoffed, "You seen this frigate? This is a bloody fort!"

"What should we do, noona?" Jungkook asked, his voice tired and pained, "I tried everything to get out of here. There is absolutely no way without help from outside."

"Yeah." Arya nodded, she wasn't in any better condition either. She took her second beating not long ago.

"And I heard they contacted with two experts. They'll come today via helicopter. We won't be able to stop them. If they come, they'll repair the flood chamber and even your navigation control. All of our works will be nothing!" Jungkook again spat on the floor, his tone all bitter.

Hearing the words, Arya's expression changed in the slightest.

"We can't let them come here and repair that, noona." Jungkook's voice was firm.

"Kookie...We talked about that," Arya quietly spoke.

"Noona," Jungkook's voice was calm, "do you think it is your time to worry about me? I came into this job already accepting that I have to go one day. I am ready to die, noona."

"I...I..." Arya's voice trembled.

"Noona." Jungkook was fully calm this time, "if we had any other way, I'd never think about this. But we don't have any other way. Think about the people, noona. How many people will die if we don't do this...just think about it. Isn't it worth it?"

"Kookie," Arya's voice was calm too, "I am not afraid to die. But..."

"But?"

"Jin." Arya lowered her eyes.

"He'll understand." Jungkook smiled painfully, "I can't believe I am asking you this!"

"How many times I'd hurt him, Kookie?" Arya smiled this time, "why fate has to be this cruel to us always?"

Jungkook didn't answer.
His heart was also breaking at the thought of Jin after what Arya and he has been discussing for the last few hours. It will kill Jin, probably every day. He doesn't want to do that to his brother.

But he has no other choice.

"Hyung! I am sorry!" Jungkook whispered to himself and tried to blink away the teardrops that formed in his eyes unconsciously.

"Cover the right side!" Yoongi shouted and emptied a magazine towards the military hiding behind the railing of the platform, "they are trying to corner us."

But the next moment bullet came from four sides seeing his muzzle flash.

Nabi was ready, she has already crawled twenty feet from the platform. She stood up and fired with her rifle for two seconds and again ducked behind the railing.

One man was there. But it wasn't clear what happened to him.
The chamber again turned pitch black.

With the sudden encounter of two teams, they organized themselves first for the first few seconds.

Everyone in Yoongi's team got up on the wooden platform high up from the ground and in the catwalk made in the wall.
The whole process was made during the second world war, so the structures were aged old and fragile.
In this short time that was the best cover for them.

In the case of the opposite team, their leader yelled out his orders to his soldiers telling everyone to take cover and to attack saving the ammunition. flashlights flashed like fireflies haphazardly. They turned on their flashlights only to see the cover and the track and then they covered the distance in the dark to evade the bullets coming from the platform above.

"Where, where!" Taehyung was chanting to himself while scurrying hurriedly through his backpack for something, "I know it is there, but where is it!"

The platform was being formed beehive appearances with all the bullets wounding its body. Few of them made their way through the railings, one of them pierced the wall beside Taehyung's head.

He hissed a few curses and finally got his hands on what he was looking for, "got it, hyung!"

"Now, finish your job." Yoongi whisper-yelled while covering the slope up to the catwalk and platform.
He ordered Taehyung to not waste time and disable the Trident.
If they die here, at least they would make sure that they finished the mission before that.

The missile can't be operational as long as they have air in their chest.

"On my mark, Nabi-sshi!" Yoongi counted loud enough for Nabi to hear it.

They both got up at the same time and fired back towards the entrance of the chamber.

One man was running for a new cover but unfortunately, he fell in the cross light of another soldier's torch.   he was trying to run towards the slope to get on the platform. If he succeeded, he would have been enough to finish all of the intruders himself.

The beam of the torch of his comrade fell on his leg, but that was enough for Yoongi.
He fixed his aim, guessed where will be the torso of that soldier and shot two times.

And the reward came with one scream and the sound of the assault rifle falling on the floor.

Immediately after the shots, both Yoongi and Nabi got down behind the railing and took cover while bullets of AK47 destroyed the wall behind their head.

"Madness! It's all madness!" Yara was mumbling in a trance sitting beside Yoongi.

"That's how face-to-face gunfight works." Yoongi smiled.

Something fell on the platform at that moment with a loud clank.

"Get down!" Yoongi screamed at the top of his lungs and pulled Yara down and covered her body with his.

The grenade exploded in no time. The shrapnel went above their body, scrapping the tough wood in their way.

Yoongi's ears were ringing, but he didn't give attention to it. He knew the military threw grenades to keep them laying down and distracted. They'll try to close the distance between the platform and themselves in the meanwhile.

Yoongi was adamant about not giving them this leverage. He again peeked from behind the railing.
Rows of torches were on from the destroyed door of the entrance of the chamber to the other side of it!

He felt like a cold palm just squeezed his heart so suddenly.

Yara had no weapons training, Taehyung was busy with his keyboard and portable hacking console.
That means only he and Nabi was going to go against that flood of a troop!

How can only two people fight against them?

Yoongi started to rummage through his combat pouch and almost tore a piece of plastic explosive. With a finger's touch, he picked out a sixty seconds timer pencil in this pitch-black darkness, attached that to the explosive, and threw it towards the middle of the chamber.
He changed the magazine of his Glock already and after firing for three seconds, he again sat down.

"We can't let them surround us. I have thrown a plastic explosive. When it would be exploded, find your targets at that time, got it?"

The plastic charge exploded after few seconds. The concussion was like receiving a kick on the chest.

Yoongi was ready.

A fire eroded like an umbrella towards the ceiling of the chamber and the whole chamber came in the eyesight for the first time in that light.

Yoongi and Nabi started firing at the same time.

Soldiers, who were running towards the platform got their first round of shots above their head. Then they both zeroed in and four soldiers got down with the bullets hitting on their chests.

Bullets came from eight places towards the platform.

Yoongi's chin got all bloodied. The bullet pierced the railing and the flake of wood cut his chin.

He didn't give attention to pain, he has to kill as many men as possible while the light of chambers from the explosions was still on. But that didn't happen as bullets came like a storm from the opposite side again.

After the bullet rain dimmed down a bit, he again got up. He didn't want to give them the time to climb up on the platform.
But aside from the strong smell of cordite, his nose picked up one familiar smell- something was burning.

Yoongi turned back. The platform was on fire. It happened when the grenade blasted on it. The flames were still small, just spreading on the surface but it was making a lot of smoke. If it goes out of control, they'll have to burn to death.

"Taehyung, put off that fire. We'll cover you," ordered Yoongi.

Yara crawled towards Yoongi from beside Taehyung, "he is busy, I'll do it."

"Don't raise your head," warned Yoongi, impressed with her courage.

The flame was getting bigger and the whole platform was slowly being visible under that red glow. The fire was increasing and the platform was being more visible towards the military making them easy target now.

Yara reached the flame thirty feet apart from Yoongi. The platform itself wasn't burning, rather the railing was on fire.

Keeping two feet on the railing, she tried to push it down from the platform.
It didn't happen, rather the railing broke down into two pieces and burning coal fell on Yara's legs.

The skin was burning. She tried to put off the flames from her pants and sat up hurriedly and took off her shirt. With a tank top on, she tore the shirt into two parts and wrapped those on her palms. She patted on the flames to put it off among the bullet rains above her head from both sides.

It took three minutes to put off that stubborn flames. Meanwhile, the shirt has already turned into ashes,  the skin of her both hands were gone. Only fleshy patches were there. She was just an inch apart from being insane in pain.

The pain was so intense that she couldn't crawl anymore, rather she had to drag herself towards her team through the floor like a serpent.

Pointing the torch at Yara, Yoongi gasped.

"It's ok." Her voice trembled a little.

"Everyone, cover your ears!" Taehyung suddenly whispered.

On his hand was a small fuse attached with a metallic box, shaped like a matchbox.
Near his feet, the middle console of the Trident was open.

He disabled the Trident.
Now he fished out a tiny part of retractable explosive from its core.
His hand expertly attached a timer pencil on its fuse and threw it down the platform.

The timer exploded, Taehyung saw the target he set.
Five of the seven torches were gone in that portion of the chamber.

The sound of this tremendous roar of this explosion was as if a signal that the battle of the first round has just ended.

The military started firing once again with new vigor.

The bullets were biting the wooden railings as if they were trying to break the whole platform.
They faced the counter firing from three people from Yoongi's team.

A chorus of screams was heard, everyone was coming forward at once.

Nabi took a bullet in her shoulder trying to defend herself.
She couldn't support the rifle with her shoulder anymore, so she took the rifle in full automatic mood and targeted it away from the platform. She intended to create a veil of bullets so that no men can come any further than that.

With the blunt sound of the bolt, she knew her magazine was out. Taehyung this time took the responsibility to maintain that cover. They have to stop them no matter what. But his bullets also had come to an end.

Only Yoongi was the one still firing. Constantly reloading the magazines whenever necessary like a programmed machine. His experience says, if the military loses courage, they'll step back to take cover.

bullets were piercing everything around Yoongi, but he didn't give any attention to anything. After a few seconds, he felt it, they were winning.

The muzzle flashes were getting back. Militaries were getting back to their previous position to take cover.

Yoongi thumped down behind the railing this time. His wrists, arms, shoulders were stiff with all the firings for past minutes. Sweats dripped along his forehead.
"What is your condition?"

"I have been shot." Nabi was calm.

"Still cursing my fate," Taehyung's voice was bitter, "Shouldn't have left the night vision behind. Should have kept back up! Fuck!"

"Yara-sshi?"

"I am ok," Yara replied slowly, her voice still trembling with pain.

"Taehyung, give her a shot of morphine from the first aid kit."

The sound of the firing for the last ten minutes was intense, but now nobody was firing. The pin-drop silence in the chamber was almost ominous.

Everyone's ears were ringing still, but among that, they heard one voice coming from the entrance of the chamber, "we will give you one chance, surrender yourself."

"Bloody bastard!" Yara fired instantly, "I know that voice!"

"Who is that?" Yoongi frowned.

"He is the head of this base now. Kim Hae Jung. He killed my father. They were in the same unit and he ratted him out."

"As sad as this can be, this information won't help us," sighed Taehyung.

A slight smirk formed on Yoongi's lips and he shouted back, "surrender? You do it first, maybe we can forgive you, who knows!"

"You just poked the sleeping dragon, hyung!" Taehyung again sighed giving up on everything and lied down on the platform, "here the attack comes!"

The third-round attack started at the same time.
