54.

When Arya woke up, it was already dark.
She sat up feeling warmth surrounding her. She was covered in a light blanket and Jin's jacket was underneath her head.
She smiled at the sight. Jin was too caring for his character.

Jin made a fire, a little far from her, making sure she doesn't get up with his hassle.
Arya looked around.
Jin already built two portable tents and made a small fire enough for illuminating the surroundings.

He was sitting beside the fire, with his perfect posture, eyes closed. Meditating.

Probably he went back to the residence and brought back whatever they needed for the night. Arya quietly got up and took the jacket and blanket in her hand.

She pushed two pieces of wood into the flame making it a little bigger and brightening the vicinity a little more.
She wrapped the jacket around Jin's shoulder and he didn't show any response meaning he already knew she was up.

Arya wrapped the blanket around her own body and sat beside Jin, "You didn't sleep?"

Jin opened his eyes and remained silent.

"I am hungry." Suddenly Arya remembered she hasn't had anything after breakfast.

Jin got up without a word and brought back a bag from a tent.
Silently he opened the bag, started to bring out food containers one by one
And placed in front of her.

Arya looked at all the food in awe and smiled, "Who made those? You?"

"Part of the deal." Jin shrugged reminding her demand for Jin to cook for her if she wins the bet.

"Sweet!" Arya didn't wait to dig in.
"Oh, God! It's delicious!"

"Words are prohibited during dining." His common phrase during every meal was heard though he knew Arya rarely gives any damn to his words.

"Seriously, Jin! You should be a chef after you retire!" Arya didn't budge with his words.

"Probably." Jin replied, "If I ever retire."

"You are not planning to spend your whole life after this lifestyle, are you?" Arya frowned.

"Don't have a contingency plan either!"

"Come on! You'll have a family of your own by then! A beautiful wife, one or two children probably?" Arya smiled, "you'll be a great father who attends the teacher-parents meetings, sports day of your children, who will never miss any special occasions of his children and always be there for them unlike us."

Jin was quiet.

"Promise me one thing, Jin." Suddenly Arya beamed.

Jin looked at her.

"Never let your children end up like us, ok? Protect them so that they grow up to be the loveliest persons of this world. Probably I wouldn't be there to see your happy days, but I always pray that you find your happiness."

Jin's hand picking up a sandwich stopped in the midway and he kept his gaze on the ground. Not moving anymore.

"Did I say something wrong?" Arya was conscious suddenly.

"I have news." Jin put down the sandwich and looked at Arya who was happily munching on her food.

"What?" Her words came out muffled with foods in her mouth.

"Taehyung found a solution."

Arya stopped. Her eyes went blank suddenly as if she was in a dilemma.
"What?"

"Hear me out first," Jin said calmly passing the water bottle to Arya.

"The whole project of x99 vanished from existence. They wiped out everything and everyone related to that matter. So no formulae, no antidote."

"I already know that." Arya sipped on the water and looked at Jin's eyes.

"What Taehyung found was not your specific antidote. But it is a gamble."

"Tell me."

"Diacetyl morphine."

"Heroin?" Arya frowned, "What it has to do with it?"

"Your addiction to x99 and Its symptoms are so much like heroin and its abuses. So what Taehyung suggested wasn't any traditional method, but a high chance of pure risk."

"Spill."

"He said, we should make you addicted to heroin," Jin replied.

"Oh...wow!" Arya stopped, "One addiction isn't enough now?"

"Taehyung consulted with few experts and also did experiments on a few living subjects. But it was impossible to go in for human trial. But so far the result is promising."
Jin was calm.

"Details."

"Overflooding the symptoms." Jin explained, "If we start to make you addicted to heroin, there is a possibility of your addiction being taken over by heroin alone. Your body will be adjusted to be addicted to heroin ignoring your previous addiction cause both the drugs exert the same symptoms on your body. Am I making sense?"

"In a way." Arya looked curious, "I bet it isn't as simple as that?"

"Well, I am not a professional to tell you how it will work. But look at this- when a person goes to the hospital for substance abuse of various kinds, doctors don't treat him separately for alcohol, or meth, or cocaine at the same time. They go for generalized narcotic abuse and the symptomatic treatment, right?"

"Right."

"Now if we make you addicted to heroin, we can treat you for heroin abuse as we know the symptoms and systematic problem for that. We may not have an antidote for x99, but we sure know the heroin antidote. Don't we?"

"Seems too easy." Arya doubted,
"What are the odds?"

"We don't know if that is possible. And we are out of time. We need to make you addicted to heroin within a very short time before your current supply of x99 runs out."

"Means high dosages of heroin?" Arya sighed.

"High dosages, more frequency per day, and this sudden heroin surge in the body can cause acute heroin poisoning along with organ failures and death."

"Uh-huh." Arya was deep in her thoughts.

"Possibilities are there that heroin can't overtake the x99 in the body and in that case, in place of one drug, we'll just end up pushing you to have two types of addiction, even limiting the few days of the time you have left and kill you before you die."

"And?"

"And even if we succeed, we can't take you to a doctor who will probably dim down your drug level slowly and send you into rehab. That would be great in chronic heroin abuse. But you'll receive the dangerous level of heroin in a short time but your symptoms of x99 will persist which is Chronic. So traditional treatment by a doctor wouldn't do any good in your case. You'll be gone in no time if he follows the medical guideline."

"So, cowboy treatment?" Arya scoffed a little.

"Cowboy treatment it is." Jin nodded.
The quick detoxifying and withdrawal method was known as the cowboy method for a long time. This method was dangerous and that's why medical science didn't approve of it as an effective way of treatment.

"You know how dangerous it is, right?" Jin asked.

"I know." Arya nodded and went quiet.

"so...?"

"Let's eat first." Arya offered the water bottle to Jin and concentrated on her food, "You haven't started yet."

"Mnn." Jin hummed a little and started eating.

The rest of the meal went in silence.

Once they both were done, Jin neatly arranged everything and cleaned the place.

Arya laid back on the grass near the campfire using her hands as a pillow under her head.

"You know what am I gonna say, right?" Arya suddenly broke the silence.

"I know," Jin replied softly.

"What are the chances?"

"Fifteen- eighty-five?" Jin sounded unsure.

"Well, fifteen percent chance is a lot compared to zero," Arya mumbled,
"if I don't take this chance, I'll just have one option. Death."

"Think about the painful process," commented Jin from her side who was sitting motionlessly.

"Should I back off and wait to die?" Arya chuckled, "I can't do that. Can I?"

Jin remained silent.

"You know me, Jin. I can't back off just because of the risk. I have already gone through hell. One more time won't hurt much, No?"

"Arya..."

"Do you trust me, Jin?" Arya looked at Jin.

"Yes," Jin answered almost immediately.

"Then trust me, I can do this."

"I trust you."

"Even if I die in the process, I will have no complaints. Just know that I wanted this, ok?"

"You can't die," Jin said quietly.

"Don't be so confident. Eighty-five percent is high enough, Jin. I could..."

"You Can't die." Jin dismissed her without letting her finish her words.

"What's with this stubbornness?" Arya chuckled, "be practical, Jin."

"I lost you once." Jin remarked quietly, "I can't lose you again."

Arya looked at him for quite a long minutes before removing her hands from beneath her head and slightly patted on Jin's hand and hid a sigh.

The weather was quiet.
Arya decided to break the silence.
"Jin?"

"Mnn?"

"Tell me about you."
Arya rolled to her side to face Jin, "I just have these snippets of memories about you, but without it? Blank. Tell me something, anything about you."

Jin seemed to think intently for stories.

"Do you still remember the times you have spent here?" Arya asked.

"Not that much." Jin nodded side to side, "Few moments, yes."

"What were your happiest memories here?"

Jin thought for a second and looked away, "That is embarrassing. It was silly."

"Tell me, tell me!" Arya asked eagerly.

"It was really silly."

"Spill!" Arya glared at Jin.

"Well..." Jin hesitated for a moment,
"There was this girl."

"Girl?" Arya cheered in tease until Jin's ears turned a dusty pink in colors, "You were too little for noticing a girl!"

"Ok. I am done!" Jin shook his head.

"Ok, ok. Sorry, I won't tease you." Arya laughed, "Go ahead."

"We spent some time together once in a while. We talked a lot. Well- mostly she talked, I listened."

"Suits you!"

"I liked to spend time with her. I mean, a lot. This is embarrassing!" Jin shook his head.

"No, it's not! It is cute!" Arya instantly protested.

"She loved flowers. I used to sneak into the garden, find something, and secretly started to put it on her window."

"How many times you did that?"

"Everyday." Jin looked away.

"Whoaaaa! Jin!" Arya was astonished, "What happened to you now? You were this romantic when you were just a larva! Look at you now! You are a butterfly now and still single!"

"Should I consider single as a failed attempt to insult or take butterfly as a compliment?" Jin looked at Arya.

"How did it come to your head, tell me this first?"

"Not mine! My father gave me this idea and he used to tease me about it in front of my mom. He woke me up every morning, we both destroyed my mom's garden and he helped me reach her window picking me up from the ground."

"He was such a sweet dad!" Arya commented.

"He was." Jin nodded in agreement.

"Then? What happened?"

"She told me she was so precious that every day angel comes and brings flowers for her from heaven when she sleeps."

Arya burst into laughter.
"Oh god!!! I can't breathe!" Arya struggled for air, "The most unique heartbreak ever!"

Jin waited patiently for her endless streaks of laughter.

Arya wiped her eyes and laughed,
"What happened to her then?"

"I decided to impress her with my cabin and secret tressure hoard so I brought her here."

"And?"

"We got lost while we were on the way back. It was night when we got back. Her father caught up to us and hurriedly took her back with him. I went to the home and found both my parents died that evening."

Arya looked at him in shock.

"He was a close friend and colleague of my father. Turned out he was on his run when he stumbled upon both of us and took his daughter with him while getting away."

"Wait a minute! That little girl was the daughter of that man who killed your parents?" Arya was looking at him with disbelief in her eyes.

"Yes."

"Then?"

"Then nothing. We never met again. End of story."

"Did it..." Arya hesitated, "Does it trigger you? You know childhood traumatic memories can haunt you down for years."

"It did." Jin was quiet.
"I couldn't bear the sight of lightning and the sound of the thunder and even rains when uncle adopted me. For many years. There was a cyclone that night when it happened."

"How did you overcome it?"

Jin didn't answer.

"Jin?"

"Uncle did."

"What did he do?"

Jin again was silent.

"Tell me. What did he do?"

"Made me locked out of the house when it rained or there was any thunderstorm. Opened the windows of my room so that I can see the lightning and hear the thunder roared."

"That is inhuman!" Arya gasped,
"How could he do that to his son?"

"He wanted me to grow up as a tough kid. Not someone stuck in his past." Jin disagreed, "His method was cruel for the time being. But he made me what am I today too."

"And today's you are not so impressive at all! Boring!" Arya rolled her eyes.

"He made me face my fear and made me someone who can never sit back and watch while others take away the people I loved." Jin's voice had something that made Arya frown for a moment and she smiled a little,

"Jin?"

"Mnn?"

"I am proud of you."

Jin looked away.

"Come on! Don't be shy!" Arya teased, "you know what we should do?"

"What?"

"Let's build the cabin again!"

Jin looked at her, surprised.

"Come on! We need a place to hoard our treasures still, right?"

"You want to do that?"

"Do I need training, Jin?" Arya pleaded, "Look, I am doing ok now. And I don't have much time in my hand. Let's just do whatever we want. Please?"

"Ok." Jin agreed instantly getting a cheer from Arya.
