Naruto dragged Sasuke by the wrist all the way to the other side of the campus. Soon as their class was over, Naruto hesitated none to grab the raven and exit the building.
"Where are we going?" Sasuke asked flatly as he watched the back of Naruto's head. His hair bounced in the wind as it blew. Once they reached an open field, Naruto stopped shortly and turned to face Sasuke.
"Close your eyes." Naruto says.
"Why?" Sasuke furrowed his eyebrows.
"Just, close your eyes." Naruto batted his long eyelashes, making Sasuke close his eyes. He took in a deep breath. Then he felt Naruto slip his warm hand into his owns before they started walking again. Sasuke tried to open his eyes for a peak but Naruto looked back and caught him.
"NO PEEKIN RAVEN!" He says stopping. Sasuke smirked and shut his eyes tighter. His lips pursed into a smile.
It seemed like they have been walking forever; well to Sasuke at least.
"Careful, there's a step right here." Naruto coos softly. He pulled Sasuke up when he stepped up and the two continued walking hand in hand. For about another few minutes they continued walking. They stopped and Sasuke furrowed his eyebrows waiting for Naruto to tell him to open his eyes.
"Okay, open your eyes." He hears Naruto say. Sasuke allowed his eyes to flutter open. They adjusted to the scenery and was completely in awe. They stood on a cliff, but below them was a lake that a waterfall ran into. There were big, beautiful trees that held beautiful green leaves all around. It was truly an amazing place.
"Naruto." Sasuke says breathlessly as he looked at his surroundings. The blonde smiled beside him.
"Happy One Month Friendaversary." He says lowly.
"What?" Sasuke tore his gaze from the scenery to look at him.
"Today marks one month since we've been friends." Naruto says sticking his hands into his pockets as his teetered back and forth on his heels. "One month from today was the day you told me that your favorite book was a book I was reading; which later became one of my many favorites. So I bought you to my favorite place, hoping that it would eventually become your favorite place as well."
Sasuke couldn't do anything but stare at the blonde. He was so different from anyone he ever met before. Sure the kid had his moments where he wasn't all together, but Naruto was truly a beautiful spirit to be around and it only took Sasuke a month to realize that. They've always been talking to eachother and it wasn't a day they weren't together. If Sasuke wasn't feeling a certain way towards to blonde then, he definately was now.
The two of them talked to eachother for a really long time, enjoying each others presence. They sat side by side watching the waterfall and talking.
"So how did you find this place?" Sasuke asked as he looked around.
"My mom used to take me here when I was little." He says. "We used to swim in the lake and everything. That's why I chose to come to this college. She and my dad met here and this was their favorite spot. Just to get away from everything at the campus and people in general." The blonde smiled as he reared back on his hands and looked up at the sun kissed sky. "When I die, I want to be cremated and my ashes sprinkled down the waterfall and into the lake; for one last swim." He spoke his last words lowly, But Sasuke heard him.
"Why did you say it like that?" Sasuke asked.
"What do you mean?" Naruto looked over at him.
"You were talking about dying and stuff." Sasuke says looking down at his hands.
"Oh it doesn't really mean anything." Naruto chuckled. "I didn't mean to say it in any kind of way, I was just saying. I love this place so much that I want my ashes to be here. It makes me happy knowing that my core is here and my soul is with my mom."
"Naruto you're so mysterious." Sasuke blinked at him.
"Am I?" Naruto gave him a closed eyed toothy grin. Sasuke's eyes softened as he looked back at him. "What about you Raven? You never told me about your family."
"I-I don't have a family." Sasuke replied turning his attention back to the waterfall. Naruto furrowed his eyebrows.
"Everyone has a family Sasuke." Naruto says turning towards the raven. "Whether you guys are on bad terms or not, they're still your family."
"Hn," Sasuke smirked and shook his head. "I'm adopted Naruto."
"Okay? Blood doesn't have to make someone family. I have a godfather who was more of a father than my dad ever was." Naruto blows out air thinking of his Godfather; Jiraiya. "He died after my highschool graduation though."
"I'm sorry to hear that." Sasuke says lowly.
"No,no It's fine." Naruto waved him off. "This isn't about me though. Back to you. What are your adoptive parents like?"
Sasuke laid back into the grass. His hands behind his head and his eyes closed as images of Obito and Rin came flooding into his memory.
"My parents adopted me when I was six months old." He starts. "My dad changed my name and everything. I was about seven when they told me that I was adopted and I actually wanted to find my real parents, but there wasn't a record of who they were because I was left in front of a fire station. So after that I never put too much thought into it anymore. I figured My parents loved me enough to adopt me and care for me so I shouldn't worry about parents who gave me away. When I was about Nine my dad enlisted himself into the U.S Army for extra cash because I needed Eye surgery-"
"What?!" Naruto's eyes widen completely engulfed in Sasuke's story. "Why'd you need eye surgery?"
"I have Glaucoma." Sasuke says. "I have to take these five different drops. Four during the day and one before I go to bed at night. I have a film over my right eye and I can't really see out of it. My eye pressure was too high so I needed surgery to drain the fluid off my eye. They put something in my eye and it's been keeping the pressure down ever since."
"Wow." Naruto furrowed his eyebrows. "I'm sorry to hear that."
"Nothing to be sorry for, I'm still living." He says. "And I still get to see you."
Naruto blushed and bit his lip to hide the fact he was smiling. It was flattering how Sasuke flirted with him and actually made him feel like he was actually attractive. Don't get him wrong, Naruto was very confident in his looks and didn't care what any body thought of him, but it was something about the way Sasuke flirted with him and talked to him that made him feel so different. If it was anyone else he'd just say thank you and move along. But because this is Sasuke, he can't help but blush at the raven and give a shy thank you.
In this month Sasuke has become something so special to Naruto. Something he could never replace. And for that he was happy that Sasuke said something to him in the hall. He was happy they had the same classes and he was happy that they were developing a friendship in this very moment. Everything about this made Naruto so happy.
"Continue." Naruto says.
"Heh, well anyway." Sasuke shifted a bit getting comfortable once again and closed his eyes. "I haven't really seen much of my dad growing up. He's made sure to come to special events in my life when he could, but other than that, I don't really have a relationship with him or anything. My mom, she's a sweet woman and she always to make cookies every Monday afterschool at three. She and I have a really good relationship and she talked to me about girls but as you can see, I'm interested in men." They both chuckled. "But she encouraged me when I came out to her and that's all that really mattered. She told me that I was her son regardless of blood and she'd love me regardless. My dad pretty much said the same thing when I came out too. "
"Do you talk to them now?" Naruto raised an eyebrow as he listened to Sasuke.
"Every now and then my mother would FaceTime me or my dad would give me a call." He replies as he finally opens his eyes. "Now, tell me about your mom. You seemed like you were real close to her."
Naruto smiles as he looks up at the sky remembering his mother. "Yeah, we were close." He says. "My dad is a drug addict so I never really seen much of him. It was always my mom and my godfather. My mom died from breast cancer when I was in the Ninth grade. So All I had was my godfather at that point. Then shortly after I graduated I lost him too. He had a massive heart attack and since I wasn't leagally his next to kin or his spouse, I didn't have any say so in what the doctors could do. His wife, Tsunade didn't even want to revive him because she said he would be in too much pain to keep on living in such a fucked up world. He's at peace now and we shouldn't disturb him, but at that time I felt so selfish. I stayed in his room for three days because I wouldn't let them take the body to the morgue. I couldn't just let him leave me like that. So I have no one now."
"Nonsense. You have someone." Sasuke turns over on his side and placed his hand on Naruto's causing the blonde to smile. "You have your best friend."
Naruto snorted. "Yeah." his voice trails off. "But I know he gets annoyed by me. I tend to be clingy."
"Well, if he gets annoyed then you have me." Sasuke pursed his lips into a smile. Naruto smiled as well as tears slowly rolled down his cheek. Sasuke reached up and wiped them away.
"Don't cry." Sasuke whispers to him.
"I-it was just so nice of you to say that." Naruto says. "It was like you just solidified our friendship."
Sasuke smiled softly at him. "We are friends Naruto." He says. "Don't ever second guess that okay?"
Naruto smiles as nods. "Kay."
-----
Naruto entered his dorm tired from his day with Sasuke. They ended up doing their homework there and calling it a night.
Naruto threw his bookbag on the bed when a black ponytail caught his attention.
"SHIKAMARU!" Naruto jumpped on his friend. Shikamaru groaned.
"Naruto get off of me." He says peeling the blonde's arms off of him. Naruto chuckled and removed himself from the boy.
"How was the trip? I missed you." Naruto sat on the floor waiting for a good story from the Nara. Instead, the Nara stretched and removed his hair from his ponytail.
"Troublesome." He replies before laying back on his bed. "My parents want me to marry Temari like yesterday."
Naruto chuckled. "What's so bad about that?" Naruto asked.
"What isn't bad about that Naruto?" Shikamaru raised up on his elbows and looked down at his friend. "Basically I'd have to drop out of school and prepare for a wedding I'm not even ready for. I'm not ready for that kind of commitment. I want to get my career going before I get married or anything. It's such a drag that my parents are trying to force me into marring someone I don't even know if I'm in love with yet." He sighed. "Whatever."
"Damn." Naruto looks down. "That's alot to deal with."
"Yeah." He sighed once more. "How were things with you here?"
Naruto smiled thinking of his new found friend. "I made a new friend."
"Really now?" Shikamaru raised his eyebrows in surprise. "And who is this 'friend'?"
"H-His name is Sasuke." Naruto found himself blushing. "S-Sasuke U-Uchiha."
"Hm, I know his roomate." Shikamaru says. "Kiba."
Naruto nodded. "That's him."
Shikamaru watched his friend's movements as he listened to him talk about his first encounter with the Uchiha. He smiled.
"Naruto." He says cutting the blonde off. Naruto's blue crystals met his dark eyes.
"You like him don't you?" He asked.
Naruto's face turned red as he looked down.
"It's nothing wrong with you liking him Naruto." Shikamaru tells him. "I told you that I don't care who you like and I meant that. Long as you don't try to make any cheap passes at me."
Naruto chuckled when his best friend said the last part.
"I don't know Shika." He says. "He-He's so different then what I thought he would be after that first encounter. I thought he was an arrogant little prick or something but he's actually, I don't know. Alot like me."
"Oh god no." Shikamaru shook his head. "I can't handle two of you."
"Not exactly like me Shikamaru." Naruto rolled his eyes at his friend's weirdness. "But we have similarities. I don't know why I've never met him before or seen him in my creative writing class untill after I met him in the hallway."
"Because he didn't give you anything to make you notice him." Shikamaru says. "Sasuke pretty much goes unnoticed anywhere he goes. He prefers to keep it that way. He only hangs with Kiba and this other girl name Sakura. Other than that, you never really see him around here."
Naruto nodded listening to the information his friend was giving him.
"Have you been taking your medication?" Shikamaru asked changing the subject.
Naruto puffed his cheek and nodded. "Yes Dad."
Shikamaru smirked. "Going to your treatments?"
"Yes dad."
"Good." Shikamaru nodded proudly. "I'm proud of you. Does Sasuke know?"
Naruto looked up at him and shook his head no before turning his head away.
"Why haven't you told him?"
"He doesn't need to know." Naruto spoke lowly.
"Naruto, he's your friend now." Shikamaru reasons. "He deserves to know. What if-" Shikamaru cut his sentence short and huffed loudly. "Nothing, never mind. Do as you please."
Naruto began playing with his fingers. He wanted to tell Sasuke, but he couldn't bring himself to do it. What was he suppose to do?
I'll tell him.....Eventually
