Ch. 19: Let's Go Camping

(A/N: I apologize in advance, this chapter isn't my best work and it's kind of short but I'll try to make it up to you all real soon. Also, you have to look at the picture, it's seriously like one of the most adorable things I've ever seen.)

Naruto's POV:

After Hinata and I had something to eat, the two of us and Kurama got into my Jeep and drove to the campsite. It really was a nice day so I took the top off and turned the radio up while we drove down the highway and I couldn't help but notice how good of a job Sasuke had done putting the car back together.

We got to the campsite to see that everyone else was already there. Sasuke was grilling burgers and hot dogs while Shikamaru and Gaara talked with him, Sakura was laying on a blanket and talking with Ino and Temari, Kiba and Choji were playing a game of two-on-two basketball against Tenten and Karui with Lee as referee, Sai was sitting against a tree sketching something, and Shino was crouched next to a stump studying some bug. I parked the Jeep next to Choji's 4-Runner and Hinata and I got out of the car. I grabbed most of our things while Hinata grabbed the two chairs she brought and took Kurama's leash.

"Hey look who's finally here! What took you so long?" Sakura asked when we walked up. She gave Hinata a look and wiggled her eyebrows suggestively at her which made Hinata blush.

"We were eating," I answered setting our stuff down. Kurama got really excited when he saw Akamaru so Hinata unhooked the leash from his collar and let him go to play with his friend.

"Kiba brought a cooler full of Coors if you want some, if not there's some soda and bottles of water in the blue one," Shikamaru told us as we walked up.

"No thanks I'm good. Hey Gaara, I brought some gloves wanna play catch while we wait for the food?" I asked pulling out the gloves.

"Yeah sure," he responded. I kissed Hinata on the cheek leaving her to go talk with the girls while me and Gaara played catch a short distance away.

"So why were you two late?" he asked after a little while.

"Hinata came over while I was in the shower and made us something to eat... I got out of the shower and accidentally surprised her and she fainted... then when she woke up we ate and now we're here," I told him honestly. I saw the slightest grin in the corner of his mouth.

"How'd she get in your apartment? Don't you always lock it, even when you're home?" he asked.

"I gave her a key a few weeks ago," I answered. "How are things going with you and Matsuri?" I asked teasingly and I could see the faintest blush come to his cheeks. He didn't talk about it but I knew that the two of them have been talking ever since homecoming.

"We're good. I went to see her last weekend," he answered and I smiled, happy to see that he had found someone he cared about.

Suddenly the girls broke out into a fit of squealing. I looked over to see Hinata covering her face in her hands while the others appeared to be asking questions.

"Girls are so weird," I stated with a small smile before returning my attention to the game of catch I was playing.

We played catch in silence for a few minutes until I decided to ask a question.

"What's going on with Kiba lately? He's been kind of an ass to me lately and I'm getting sick of it," I asked.

"You seriously don't know?" he asked as if he was shocked.

"No I really have no clue," I answered.

"He likes Hinata," he said rolling his eyes.

"That!? That's why he's been such an ass? Geez he still hasn't gotten over that? I mean Hina is the absolute best but come on get over it already," I huffed.

I can't believe he's still pissed because Hinata likes me.

I was frowning slightly when a voice caught my attention.

"Naruto-kun," I turned and saw Hinata walking towards me. I smiled and tossed the ball I was holding to Gaara before walked to meet her halfway.

"Hey Hina what's up?" I asked.

"Shouldn't we set up the tent b-before it gets too dark out?" she asked.

"But... yeah ok," I answered with a sigh. She giggled and we walked over to our pile of stuff.

After about thirty minutes we had the tent set up and the mattress fully inflated. By that time it was time to eat. We all sat in a circle around the fire while we ate, talked, and laughed.

"Teme I gotta say you make a mean burger," I said with a mouthful of food.

"Yeah Sasuke-kun y-you're a really good cook. Have y-you ever thought about g-going to culinary school?" Hinata asked after finishing her burger.

"No not really," he answered with a shrug.

"How come?" Hinata asked but all she got in response was a shrug. "Well y-you should, you'd be really good at it I think," she said before leaving the conversation.

"When everyone's done, I brought stuff to make s'mores!" Sakura announced. I immediately jumped up from my seat and ran over to the picnic table where she had set up her s'mores station.

An hour later everyone was done eating and had made their s'mores; I had five. I was talking to Shikamaru about something when I saw Hinata shiver out of the corner of my eye.

"Hina are you cold?" I asked.

"No, I'm f-fine Naruto-kun, thank you though," she answered with a small smile and almost on cue she shivered again. I rolled my eyes and pulled her from her chair onto my lap.

"There, how's that?" I asked and smiled as she blushed slightly.

"You're such a dork," she said as she nuzzled her head into the crook of my neck.

"Love you too Hime," I answered and kissed the top of her head. I could feel her smile against my chest.

"Hey how about we play some truth or dare?" Tenten suggested and although there was some grumbling about how the game was stupid and childish, everyone agreed.

"Ok and to make things fun, if you refuse to do a dare you have to chug a beer. And if you do a truth and at least one of us has proof that you're lying, you have to chug a beer. Sound good?" Tenten asked and most people got a little more excited.

"Ok I'll go first," she said before looking around the circle, trying to decide who her first victim would be. "Temari, truth or dare?" she asked.

"Dare obviously," Temari answered.

"Ok I dare you to..... Not roll your eyes at anyone for the rest of the time we're here, and Shikamaru I'm counting on you to watch her when the rest of us aren't around," Tenten said and I couldn't help but crack a smile at the thought that Temari couldn't roll her eyes at all for the rest of the trip.

"Fine whatever, my turn... Choji, truth or dare?" she asked.

"Um... dare I guess," he answered a little hesitantly.

"I dare you to not eat the last chip in that bag or any of the crumbs left over either and throw it away knowing that the last chip never got to be eaten," as she spoke, a wicked grin grew on her face. Choji's face went pale and his mouth dropped open in horror.

"You're so mean Temari," he said and looked like he was trying hard not to cry as he walked to the trash can nearby and threw the unfinished bag of chips away. "That was too cruel," he said gruffly as he sat back down.

"Ok my turn. Shikamaru truth or dare?" he asked.

"This is such a drag... Truth," he said with a bored expression.

"Who was your first kiss?" Choji asked and most of us already knew the answer.

"It was Ino," he answered and rubbed the back of his neck. "Naruto, truth or dare?" he asked me.

"Dare. I ain't no chicken," I answered immediately.

"Yeah, whatever. I dare you to... I don't know... go shotgun a beer," he told me in a bored tone.

"I'd think someone as smart as you could come up with something a little more creative than that but ok. Hina would you mind getting up for a minute?" she stood up and I walked over to the cooler and grabbed a beer. I completed my dare and crushed the can against my forehead when I finished. I walked back to my seat and sat back down.

"Whoa, been a while since I did that. My turn. Sakura-chan truth or dare?" I asked her once I had taken my seat.

"Dare," she answered.

"I dare you to sit on teme's lap for the rest of the night," I told her and chuckled when I saw her blush. Sasuke sent me a quick glare but he didn't protest. Sakura got up from her seat, bring her blanket with her, and sat on Sasuke's lap. They both looked uncomfortable but neither of them said anything.

"O-ok my turn," she said with a slight stutter, "Hinata, truth or dare?" she asked my girlfriend.

"Truth," she answered calmly.

"Why were you and Naruto really late getting here?" Sakura asked and Hinata's face turned red.

"Um, well I w-went over t-to his house s-so we could come h-here together and when I went inside, he w-was taking a sh-shower so I made us something to eat b-but before we got the chance to eat I f-fell asleep for a little while. Then w-when I woke up I was still h-hungry so we had to m-make more food since what I made before h-had gotten cold," she answered and I was surprised she was so quickly able to come up with a way to tell the story so that it wasn't technically a lie, but wasn't the whole truth either.

"Hmm I know you're not telling the whole story... but since none of us has any proof I guess we'll have to let it slide," Sakura said unsatisfied. Hinata let out a sigh of relief before continuing with her turn.

Hinata had unwisely dared Lee to have a beer. After one sip the guy went nuts and we had to zip him up in his own sleeping bag to restrain him.

The game went on for a few more turns before everyone got bored and turned into a game of Never Have I Ever, where someone would say something they've never done and anyone in the group who has, would have to take a drink.

By the time the game was over Kiba was stumbling around (I don't think he's done half of what he took credit for doing, honestly I think he just wanted an excuse to drink more), Ino and Sai were blacked out in their tent, Shikamaru and Temari were the same way, Sasuke was mostly fine but he was blinking a lot, Choji was asleep but I don't know if that's from drinking or just because he was tired, Karui was currently trying to braid Choji's hair as she hiccupped repeatedly, Shino was as quiet as ever so I have no idea how he was doing, Neji and Tenten weren't too bad but they were being very handsy with each other, Sakura was still sitting on Sasuke's lap and, like Karui, she was making tiny braids in Sasuke's hair, Gaara and me were in about the same state that Sasuke was in, and last but not least was my lovely, innocent Hinata.

She had never really drank before tonight so she was a bit of a lightweight. She had tried braiding my hair, like Sakura and Karui were doing, but when she realized my hair was too short she got really frustrated and started crying but that only lasted for like a minute. Then she went over to Gaara and started talking really loudly about him and Matsuri, which I found very entertaining. Now she's laying on the ground talking to Kurama.

"Hina I think it's time to go to sleep," I told her with a small smile.

"B-but I don't wanna go bed," she said and stuck out her bottom lip.

I stood up from my seat which made me dizzy so I had to steady myself for a few seconds. Once I was fine I walked over to her and scooped her up in my arms. She let out a small squeak as I did so but she wrapped her arms around my neck. I carried her bridal style to our tent and set her down on the mattress. I had brought two blankets; one to cover the mattress and the other for us to sleep under. I plopped down next to her causing her to bounce a bit and she giggled. I got under the covers with her and pulled her to my body. We were laying there peacefully when she started kissing my neck and along my jaw.

"Hina what are you –" I was interrupted with her lips attaching to mine.

She started kissing me passionately and running her hands through my hair. I knew it was Hinata kissing me, but it didn't feel like her. Her rhythm or something was off and I didn't like it. I put my hands on her shoulders and gently pushed her away so that I could see her face.

"Hinata we should get some sleep," I told her in a firm but gentle voice.

"B-but I'm not tired yet silly," she sat up and started taking her shirt off.

-Chapter End-
