Chapter 8: Adventure
"One way to make the most out of life is to look upon it as an adventure."
-William Feather
The castle courtyard was quiet and still in the early morning. The only sound being that of a birds song, or roosters crow. The sunrise was only minutes away, different shades of purple, pink and orange were beginning to swirl over the horizon.
A tired yawn escaped your lips and your hand reached up tp cover your mouth.
You were tired. Last night you and Jimin were out in the garden until late, he had told you stories of his childhood and in return you told him of your home and technology. You remembered laughing when trying to explain a cell phone to the prince.
You could easily say that you felt comfortable with Jimin now, even if you'd only known him for a day, last night the two of you talked like childhood friends and you trusted him.
A bored sighed past your lips as you played with the sleeves of your shirt.
You were dawned in a white button down shirt that was was too big for you (seeing as how it was made for a man to wear) you had rolled up the sleeves to your elbows and tied the shirt in a knot at the corner. The collar of the shirt exposed your collar bone and the top part of your chest, even though you were barely even showing cleavage, this was the most of your body you've shown since you've arrived. Your legs were covered in a pair of tight riding trousers, unlike your shirt, the pants were made for women to wear, but only when riding, otherwise it was indecent. However, to you they almost felt like skinny jeans, so you had no issue wearing them by themselves.
Your hair was styled in a French braid that cascaded down your neck, your (h/c) hair making your blue eyes pop.
"The guards will bring the horses around." Taehyungs deep voice broke off your train of thought.
You nodded and allowed your blue eyes to take in his appearance.
He wasn't wearing his usual attire of robes, but instead a white shirt that appeared to be a tad bit too big for him as it hung loosely from his body. it was tucked into the brown pants that covered his muscular legs, a belt hang around his hips, a silver award resting in the holster. This was your first time seeing him wear something so form fitting, and you had to say, he look really good.
Taehyung chuckled at your staring, spreading his arms wide and turning in a full circle to give you a full view.
"Prince Jungkook allowed me to wear his clothes, I did not think my royal robes would give me the freedom needed, if I should need to fight." He spoke confidently.
You raised your eyebrow.
"Do you think you will need to fight?" You asked.
Taehyung nodded as he adjusted his sword on his belt. "The great barrier is down, the dark creatures will be attracted to your flame, most of them will try to kill you, we can't allow that to happen."
Your eyes widened.
"Then shouldn't I have a weapon as well?" You asked quietly.
Taehyung looked at you and frowned, a sigh escaping his parted lips.
"I am not keen on the idea of a woman having a weapon." He spoke lowly.
Your eyebrow raised. He wasn't keen on the idea? Who was he to tell you what you could and could not do? He wasn't your father or your king!
"Why not? If what you say is true, and those monsters are coming for me shouldn't I be able to defend myself?"
Taehyung frowned deeply at your words, taking a small step closer to your form.
"You do not need a weapon, we will protect you." He spoke patting you on your shoulder.
You shook off his hand, taking a step back.
"But, I want to be able to defend myself. I'm not a kid." You said, as you started to feel anger bubble inside of you.
Taehyung sighed and allowed his hand to fall limply to his side.
"I know, but I don't want you to hurt yourself. Just trust me."
Your eyebrows shot up at his remark.
"Hurt myself? I think I know how a sword works, Taehyung." You spoke angrily.
Taehyung's eyes widened at your tone and loss of formalities.
" I did not mean to offended you, lady y/n, I just don't want you to get hurt."
You shook your head, crossing your arms over your chest defiantly.
"I wouldn't get hurt, if you'd just give me a weapon and allowed me to defend myself."
Taehyung sighed in frustration, his fingers pinching the bridge of his noses.
"Women do not carry weapons. It isn't done, especially when you have eight men capable of protecting you." His voice rose a few octaves.
You could tell he was becoming annoyed with you, but you didn't care, he was being unreasonable.
"I don't want to feel useless, I want to be able to protect myself."
Taehyung sent you a glare.
"I am not allowing you to carry a weapon, Y/N. End of discussion."
Your eyes widened at his words.
"You're not allowing me?" You asked as you stepped towards him. "Listen here your majesty Just because I landed in your kingdom when I came here doesn't mean I am your subject, you can't order me around or tell me what to do."
Taehyung glared at your words, his eyebrows smashing together in anger.
"I can assure you, that I most certainly can tell you what to do, and you are not carrying a weapon."
You sneered.
"You are not my king, and I will carry a weapon if I want."
Taehyung frowned.
"Why can't you just listen to me?"
You sighed.
"Because I am perfectly capable of making my own decisions."
Taehyung took a step closer to you.
"Is that why you keep sneaking out?"
Your blue eyes widened at his words. How did he know you've been sneaking out? You began to feel nervous under his gaze. You didn't know why. If you had been sneaking out, it wasn't any of his business and it's not like you were doing drugs or anything.
"H-How did you-"
"I heard you." He cut you off. "In my palace I watched you leave every night. I didn't follow you, but I did watch you leave. And then last night you snuck out again. So would you like to tell me where it is you keep going off to?"
You scoffed.
"I don't owe you an explanation."
Taehyung only sighed and shook his head.
"One of the handmaidens saw you enter the castle with Jimin early this morning."
"So?" You spat. "I can hang out with Jimin if I want to."
Taehyung raised a brow in curiosity at the term you used: "hang out" He didn't know what that meant, but it wasn't important.
"You shouldn't be alone at night with a man, it looks indecent." He stated calmly.
You almost snorted.
"I've been called, a witch, a monster, and a murder all in one day, I think I'm way past "indecent"."
Taehyung shook his head.
"You don't understand. Jimin is engaged."
Your eyes widened.
Engaged.
Jimin was engaged?
Why didn't he tell you?
"Engaged?" You asked dumbfounded.
Taehyung nodded, his eyes watching as Jungkook walked out of the palace and towards the two of you.
"As is Jungkook."
Your eyes shot to the oblivious golden eyed prince, who offered you a wave, picking up his pace to get to you quicker.
Your eyes watched as he jogged towards you.
He wore a white shirt, similar to Taehyung and a brown leather harness over his chest, his pants were made of the same material as his harness, on his back rested a sheeth where two swords crossed. His hair was slightly messy, and the smile on his face almost made you forget the news and chuckle.
Why was he running.
Jungkook slowed to a stop infront of you, his hands resting on his knees as he tried to catch his breath.
"Good morning." He breathed out.
"Your engaged?" You asked.
Jungkook straightened his posture, offering you a confused yet terrified look.
"How did you know?"
You nodded your head in Taehyung's direction.
"Taehyung told me." You stated.
Jungkook sighed heavily, his shoulders sinking.
"Well, it's the sad truth." He stated as he rubbed the back of his neck.
"Sad?" You inquired.
Jungkook nodded.
"Lady, Cassandra isn't the most meek of women-"
"JUNGKOOK!"
You jumped at the loud voice that erupted from the castle doors.
Jungkooks face fell in anguish and he released a groan of annoyance, turning around to face that direction.
A young girl, who looked to be about thirteen was running towards the chocolate haired prince.
Her blond hair was swaying in the wind as she ran, her eyes were a forest green, like Nathaniel's, her dress the same shade of her eyes.
She slammed her body into Jungkooks, wrapping her arms around his torso and squeezing him in a tight embrace.
Your eyebrows raised at the young girl's antics and you eyed Taehyung.
"Who is she?" You asked curiously.
The girl must have caught your words, because she sent you a dirty glare, releasing Jungkooks body and grabbing onto his hand harshly.
"I am princess Cassandra of the bear Kingdom."
Your eyes widened, snapping to Jungkook.
"This is your fiancé?!" You chuckled out. "She's still a kid!"
The blond haired girl sneered at you.
"I may be a child, but Jungkook and I are in love and as soon as he returns from this journey we are to be wed." She spoke snarking.
You raised a brow, casting your eyes to Jungkook, who looked slightly in shock by the princesses words.
"Princess Cassandra, we are not to be married until you've turned eighteen." He stated nervously.
The princess pouted and hugged Jungkook again.
"I know, but I wish we could get married when you come back." She whined.
Jungkook shook his head, pulling the girl's arms off of his body.
"That's not going to happen."
You couldn't help but snort at the scene before you.
Cassandra frowned and faced you.
"Silence, witch. No one is addressing you."
You only continued to chuckle at her squeaky voice.
"Go back to sleep, kid. You are up way too early, your tiny child brain can't take it."
The princess scoffed at your behavior and turned to Jungkook.
"Are you going to allow her to speak to me that way?" She yelled.
Jungkook gulped looking between you and the princess.
"Maybe You should go back to sleep Cassie, the sun is barely risen." He said gently.
"Cassie" smiled at him.
"Oh you're so sweet! You always look out for me!" She yelled as she hugged his neck tightly.
Jungkook chuckled nervously, once again pulling her arms off of him.
"Go." He spoke.
Cassandra nodded, turning to glare once more at you before leaving.
Jungkook watched her until she arrived back to the door, turning around and giving him a blow kiss before retreating back inside.
Jungkook only waves in response, turning back around to face you, a stern expression on his face.
"Not. A. Word." He spoke.
You purses your lips to contain your laughter, on nodded in response.
"Okay."
Jungkook raised an eyebrow at you.
"Don't you dare laugh at me."
You shook your head and shrugged your shoulders your smile growing bigger.
"Who's laughing?"
Jungkook sighed and ran a hand through his hair.
"I didn't choose Cassandra, my father did."
You nodded, smile still on your face.
"Of course. And just how old is the little princess?" You asked.
Jungkook eyed you before sighing and replying.
"She's thirteen."
That was it.
The last string of your sanity.
You busted out laughing, holding your gut and bending over to ease the pain that was arriving in your sides.
Jungkook rolled his eyes at your behavior.
"Must you laugh at my pain?"
You nodded, straightening your posture.
"You're right. Sorry sorry."
Jungkook opened his mouth to scold you, when another voice cut him off.
"Good morning." A soft voice spoke tiredly.
Your eyes trailed to the silver haired prince approaching your small group.
He wore a a light blue cotton shirt that tied at the top, it hung from his body loosely, allowing you to see his collar bones and a portion of his chest. His pants were brown and tight on his legs, hugging him in all the right places. His silver hair was styled as it was yesterday except no crown rested at the top of his head now. A sword hung from the belt around his hips and shone in the early morning sunlight. His eyes disappeared as he smiled brightly at you.
Last nights conversation began running through your head and you couldn't help but smile at the princes arrival.
"Hello, Jimin." You spoke happily.
Taehyung's lavender eyes snapped at you peppy voice. You had just been angry with him and now that Jimin shows up your all smiling and laughing again. It made no sense to the elf king. All he had done was try to protect you and you only got angry with him.
Jimin's smile widened at your voice.
"Good morning, lady y/n." He spoke before turning towards the men. "Taehyung. Brother."
The other two greeted him half heartedly.
"I ran into princess Cassandra on my way out here Jungkook." Jimin stated with a chuckle. "She spoke fondly of you."
Jungkook rolled his eyes.
"Oh, do shut up, brother."
Jimin chuckled at his brothers response and turned his attention back to you.
"I trust you slept well?" He asked sweetly.
You shrugged your shoulders.
"For the thirty minutes I was actually in my room, yes, yes I did. Thank you. And you?" You asked.
Jimin chuckled.
"I'm afraid I did not sleep as long as that. I couldn't get comfortable."
You nodded, releasing a chuckle.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have kept you out so late." You spoke.
Jimin shook his head.
"It's not your fault, besides I wasn't exactly rushing to get back to my chambers either."
By now Jungkook was totally lost. His mind going somewhere dark. The way you were both talking made it seem like you two had- jungkook shook his head. Jimin wouldn't do that, you wouldn't let him do that. But, still Jungkook couldn't help but wonder.
There seemed to be something going on.
A/N,
I apologize for the long wait and crappy chapter. I needed a filler, the next one may be a filler too, but we will just have to see.😂
