Chapter 44: Endings

"Parting is such sweet sorrow."

                     -William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet

Your eyes slowly blinked open, your body beginning to stretch as you slowly sat up from your sleeping place beside Drake.

It had been three days since you left the boys in the cave, you and Drake sat out on your own, leaving Grace with them, as you knew the trip would be too dangerous for a two year old.

Drake slowly stirred from beside you, huffing out a breath as his icy blue eyes opened, and his tail began to swish behind him.

You stood up, grabbing your h/l, h/c hair and pulling it out of your face.

Over the last three days, you came to depend on Drake alot, he would kill your meals and even cook them for you, although sometimes he would burn them on accident. Being a dragon, his body was naturally warm, so he would use his wings as a blanket for you during the night. The two of you had bonded greatly on this trip, and the fresh air had cleared your head on alot of things.

You missed the boys.

You missed Namjoon's dimples, you missed Jimin's smile, you missed Hoseok's laugh, you missed Taehyung's calmness, you missedJungkook's stupid jokes, you missed Yoongi's sassy attitude, you even missed Jin's flirting.

You released a heavy sigh.

How were you supposed to choose between them? Each one of them brought something unique and special to the table. Each one of them changed your life in different ways. If you were being honest, you could definitely say that before you arrived here, you weren't the best person, you had your flaws. Being here, getting to know those boys....it changed you in ways you didn't think possible.

The memories you made here would always be with you, you would always hold them close to your heart.

You wished you didn't have to choose, you wished that there was some way to have someone make the decision for you, but sadly, that wasn't possible....The choice was yours, and you knew that making them wait wasn't fair.

You had to choose.

You met Taehyung first. You remembered the way his lavender eyes studied you and watched you carefully as you stood awkwardly in his library. Looking back on that day, you couldn't help but chuckle. You were so naive to the world around you, you had no idea what was going to happen.

"Do you like cake?"

A smiled spread across your lips as you recalled his curious question, to this day you didn't understand why he thought that would be the best conversation starter, but in the long run, it didn't really matter.

You also remembered the day by the creek, when he yelled at you for kissing Namjoon. The was when you learned of his feelings for you.

Taehyung had always looked after you, since the beginning.

He had changed since you arrived. He no longer cared if he was the smartest man alive, he grew to care about others and their welfare.....He had grown into a great king.

When you first met Jungkook, you were in awe of his beauty. The golden armor he wore caught your attention instantly. You remembered the way he smiled at you. You would have never guessed that he would have become your best friend over such a small amount of time, but he did...Actually he became more than that.

Jin was definitely a headcase when you met him, he was arrogant and cocky and full of himself. He flirted with everything in a dress and constantly made advances on you like there was no tomorrow....

But when Hoseok died,  there was no flirting, no heated looks, no advances...there was only Jin, he showed his true self to you that day, he held you and protected you from the cold rain. He didn't scold you for crying, he didn't try to carry you away, he simply held you.. and you knew that, that was the real Jin. Not the cocky prince who flirted with everyone.. but the young man who held you as you mourned.

When Hoseok came back your emotions were in a whirl. You were angry, sad, confused and happy all at the same time. You didn't understand how he could just come back from the dead and act as though nothing had happened.

A blush rose to your cheeks as you remembered the way he kissed you. So passionately and lovingly. He didn't care that everyone was watching, he didn't care that you were angry, he just needed you and to an extent you needed him too. He was your sunshine.

Jimin was definitely something else. When you first met him, he had a stick so far up his butt that you could probably beat a pinata with him. All he cared about were appearances and politics. When he tried to talk with you, you felt awkward and uncomfortable. He was just so.....uptight. But that night under the stars, he bared his soul to you.

Namjoon scared you when you first met him. At the moment you first saw him, his word declared whether you lived or died. If he had told the king you were a witch, Richard would have killed you without hesitation. But he saw something in you that everyone else didn't see. You didn't know what it was, but it saved your life. That day when he kissed you, was one of the most amazing days of your life. He was a gentle man about the whole thing...He didn't try to pressure or persuade you, he just allowed you to draw the lines. He was kind and handsome and you found yourself trusting him with everything including your life.

You sighed heavily.

Yoongi.

Where should you even begin? When you first met Yoongi he assumed you were a whore, and then he told you, you would never see your family again, only to take an arrow for you not even a day later, and then he comforted you about your mother, and betrayed you, and then killed his father for you, and then he proposed.

To most people this story would sound insane and if you were honest. It was. You relationship with Yoongi was filled with ups and downs. You were constantly arguing about something. It was like you couldn't get along with him, you couldn't win with him... But you loved him. And he loved you.

Suddenly a loud, piercing cry broke the silence of the forest, causing both you and Drake's head to shoot up in alert.

You looked at the dragon.

"Did you-"

The cry resounded, growing even louder, your heart began to race in your chest....It couldn't be..

"Grace?"

Your voice came out hoarse as the familiar sob reached your ears once again, your body didn't hesitate this time, your feet ran in the direction of the cries, your legs carrying you as fast as they could.

Drake followed behind you, his body maneuvering around the large trees as his giant body struggled to keep up with you.

You ran until you couldn't run anymore.

You didn't stop because you were tired.

You stopped because there was something in your way.

Your blue eyes grew wide as they stared at the large wall in front of you. Giant black stones made up the vastness of it, all the grass and plants were dead around it, nothing growing, no streams flowing, it was simply nothingness.

The wall went on endlessly on both sides, your eyes never being able to find where it could possibly end.

You swallowed hard.

You had finally reached it.

The Great Wall.

Grace's cry broke you from your stupor, your blue eyes shooting up to where the sound had come from.

She was on top of the wall.

"Grace!?" You yelled up.

You received no answer, only silence welcoming you.

Slowly, a rope ladder was thrown over the edge of the wall to you, beckoning you to climb to the top.

Your mind was screaming at you. This was obviously a bad idea, but if Grace was up there, then she was in danger, and you couldn't just leave her behind.

Taking a deep breath, you grabbed the rope ladder, beginning to climb.

A tug at your foot stopped you.

Your gaze fell onto Drake, his blue eyes silently warning you of the danger.

"I know." You said quietly. "But I can't just leave her. You stay here and when I give you the signal, burn down the wall."

Drake shook his head, tugging on your foot again.

You sighed.

"I can't stay. You know that."

He slowly nodded, nudging you with his snout.

You smiled, petting him affectionately.

"Thank you."

The dragon watched as you ascended the ladder, your body raising until you reached the top.

You didn't even have time to think, your body was snatched and grabbed as soon as you reached the top of the high wall.

You struggled against the golden-clad guards that held you, but their grips only became tighter at your protests.

Your gaze frantically moved until they landed on Richard.

A smirk graced his features as he watched you struggle fruitlessly, his wrinkled hand, patting Grace's head as he held her.

She screamed, tears running down her face as she reached for you, her golden eyes filled with fear.

"Mama!"

You bit your lip in anger, sending a hateful glare to Richard.

"Where are the boys?" You asked.

The king scoffed.

"I'm sure I don't know. I only needed the child."

"Let her go." You demanded. "She's only a baby."

Richard nodded, petting Grace's golden locks as she continued to sob.

"You tried to leave me, pet." He stated. "Didn't you think I would find you?"

You fought against the guards harshly.

"Stay away from me."

He frowned.

"I was hoping you would be obedient, but I see we shall have to do this the hard way."

He reached behind him, and unsheathed a small dagger, gently tracing the blade along Grace's cheek, and leaving a small cut.

She sobbed and tried to get away from the evil king.

You watched him wide-eyed, your mind not being able to believe just how horrible this man was.

"Let her go!"You screamed frantically.

He shook his head.

"You disobeyed me, You tricked me, and you tried to run from me, now your punishment will be to watch her die."

Your eyes widened.

"N-No! Please!"

The king smiled widely, ignoring you protests as he raised the blade, aiming it at Grace's heart.

You watched in horror as he sent you a wink.

"You will never disobey me agai-"

His words were cut short as an arrow buzzed by your ear, and planted itself directly in the king's heart, causing him to fall onto his knees, his arms dropping Grace onto the stone wall beneath him, as he weakly searched for the source of his pain.

Two more arrows were fired, landing in the skulls of the two guards holding you, causing them to fall dead beside of you.

You didn't pay them any mind, your body running and scooping up Grace, her loud cries instantly dulling as she gripped onto you for dear life, blood dripping down her cheek and onto your shirt.

Your blue eyes searched for your savior, thankfulness surging through you.

Yoongi watched you from afar, his feet beginning to carry him towards you slowly, gradually picking up the pace until he was full out running to you, his hands throwing down his bow and arrow as he finally reached you, hugging you tightly to him, tears streaming from his red eyes.

"I'm sorry." He sobbed. "I'm so, so sorry."

Your bottom lip quivered at his words, hugging him back with your free arm, gripping the material of his jacket in your hand as he cried into your hair.

"It's okay, Yoongi." You breathed out. "It's okay."

The raven haired king held you tighter, his heart pounding in his chest. He hadn't seen or heard from you in three days, and his heart yearned for you, he didn't stop searching for you, he followed your tracks, hoping he would eventually catch up... and he did.

"H-Help me."

Richard's weak voice, broke the tender silence surrounding the two of you.

Yoongi's ruby eyes snapped open, his arms gently moving you to stand behind him, as he pulled out his sword, glaring at the king.

Richard laid weakly on the ground, blood pouring from his wound as a fit of coughs escaped his body.

"P-please." He begged. "I don't want to die."

Yoongi approached the dying king, his eyes shootig daggers through him.

"You hurt the woman I loved." He stated angrily. "You tried to touch her with your filthy hands, you threatened my child's life and you betrayed your sons. You are the scum of the earth. You wanted to take my family from me, but I won't let you. You will never have the opportunity to hurt them again."

Richard watched in horror as Yoongi raised his sword.

The golden king squeezed his eyes shut awaiting the cold grip of death....

but it never came.

His eyes slowly blinked open just in time to watch Yoongi's blade slam into the stone directly beside his head.

He stared at the young king wide-eyed.

Yoongi's chest heaved.

"I am not going to kill you." He said. "My people have been killers for too long. That ends today. This curse will not define me, it will not define how I rule my people. You will not define how I rule my people.  I have been fighting the light my whole life, I have been abused and treated as garbage, and I used it as an excuse for my anger."

Yoongi stood tall.

"But no more."

You watched with wide eyes as he continued.

"I'm done being angry."

Suddenly the stones beneath you began to shake violently, a deep blue light, beginning to shine brightly as the large stones cracked apart, the cement that once held them together collapsing, as The Great Wall began to fall apart.

Yoongi's eyes darted to you in worry, his feet moving swiftly to reach you as the wall beneath his feet crumbled.

The loud sound of your dragon's roar reached your ears, the wind from his wings blowing your hair from your face. You thanked god for Drake at that moment.

The silver dragon flew above you, the rope ladder from earlier hanging from his claws.

Yoongi grabbed your waist, pulling your body closer to his as he grabbed onto the ladder as Drake flew away swiftly.

You held Grace tightly with one hand as your head turned just in time to watch the once Great Wall crumble to the ground.

You didn't understand.

Only dragon fire can tear down the wall, at least that's what everyone had told you....

Your eyes widened as you remembered Yoongi's words.

"I'm done being angry."

You could have slapped yourself at your blindness. Dragon fire wasn't a literal term. The Wall was built because of The Dragon King's anger with the other kingdoms... Since the curse was placed on the kingdom, every king that reigned since was cold and angry, none of them caring about their people they only cared for revenge and money.

You assumed that "Dragon Fire" meant the Dragon king's anger and hatred. When Yoongi declared that he was not going to be like the others, that he was going to try his best to better his country, the curse was lifted, and the wall was destroyed.

Your feet gently met the ground as Drake softly lowered all of you to safety. The once dry, and fruitless ground slowly began to grow green grass, dead trees regained their leaves and flowers bloomed all around you, the once foul stench of death was replaced with a sweet smell of honey.

You watched in awe as the land was magically transformed around you, no more death and darkness was to be seen, the land now grew with multiple fruits and sunshine filled the sky.

You couldn't help but stare in happiness, your gaze falling onto Yoongi.

His eyes met yours slowly and you watched as the tangerine orange slowly faded away, only to be replaced with a vibrant, glowing blue.
