Chapter 3: Magic

"Magic lies in challenging what seems impossible."
                 -Carol Moseley Braun

The castle was huge. The stone it was built with was a light gray color. Multiple banners, with a drawing of a lion hung from every outside corner of the massive stone structure. The banners themselves were red, while the lions and tassels were a golden color that caught the sunlight brilliantly.

You gulped and nervously looked at your hands, your body jerking harshly as the carriage you rode in bumped along the stone pathway to the castle.

A chuckle resounded from opposite you.

"There's no need for you to worry lady Y/N, the princes of this kingdom are welcoming."

Your blue eyes trailed to the king, who's purple eyes were attached to a book he held in his hands. You shook your head and allowed your fingers to play with the smooth fabric of your dress.

The dress you wore was white and made of a soft silky material that shined brightly. The neckline dipped below your collar bone, showing just enough skin to leave something to the imagination. The sleeves were long and flowy, not at all constricting your body uncomfortably. The bodess was made in a corset-like fashion, but not as constricting, just enough to accent your curves.

You decided to allow your (h/l), (h/c) hair do whatever it wanted, leaving it down and natural.

"You look very nice, lady (Y/N)." the king stated, glancing at your nervous state.

Your face began to heat up at his flattery.

"Do you really think this Namjoon guy can send me home?" you asked quietly.

Taehyung sighed and placed the book down on the velvet seat beside him.

"I can almost guarantee it." He stated with a smile as he crossed his arms. "Namjoon is one of the oldest and wisest sorcerers to ever dwell in the four kingdoms. If there is a way to send you home, he will find it."

You nodded your head once again, turning to look out the window of the carriage.

"What about the other guy? Hoseok? Will he be at this meeting?"

Taehyung's purple gaze hardened on you.

"Heed my warning lady y/n, stay away from Hoseok and Prince Yoongi. Their land is cursed with darkness and misfortune that follows them wherever they go."

You glanced back to the handsome king in front of you.

"Why is their land cursed?"

Taehyung sighed and crossed his arms over his chest.

"Long ago, when this land was new, the four kingdoms were divided equally to the four wisest and kind men, each of whom became king. For a long while, the kingdoms were prosperous and were joined together in harmony and peacefulness," Taehyung paused and glanced out the window. "Until, the king of the Dragon Realm discovered handsome wealth below his castle. The Lion King grew jealous of his companion's new found wealth and sent in a spy to infiltrate the castle."

You listened intently, hanging on to every word.

"The Dragon King found the spy and took it as an act of war. The war raged for almost two hundred years, and by the third year, the Dragon King had build a wall around the entirety of his kingdom, sealing all of his citizens in and all outsiders out. One day, the Lion King took ill." Taehyung sighed. "As he lay on his death bed, he called for a sorcerer of dark magic to place a curse upon the Dragon Kingdom, forcing it to be a barren wasteland until the pride of the King breaks and the wall is destroyed."

Your mouth was wide open. All of that trouble because of someone's jealousy? What a load of crap.

"If the Dragon King hates the curse so much, why doesn't he just tear down the wall?"

Taehyung frowned.

"The wall is built of magical stone that can only be destroyed by dragon fire, and sadly, since the wall was built, no one has seen a dragon."

His eyes shot to yours.

"Until now, apparently."

You released a chuckle and raised your eyebrows.

"I can assure you, I haven't seen a dragon."

Taehyung laughed lightly.

"I believe you lady Y/N, however you will more than likely see one very soon."

You tilted your head to the side in curiosity.

"What do you mean?"

The carriage came to a halt infront of the massive castle.

"If your eyes hold the blue flame, the dragons are drawn to it. They will come out of hiding and find you, destroying everything they touch along the way, it's your curse."

You tilted your head to the side in confusion, opening your mouth to question him, however the carriage door swung open before the words even left your mouth.

You inwardly frowned. You had so many questions that remained unanswered and Taehyung was giving them to you. You began to wonder if you would ever understand anything about the magical place you were in, however, The king offered you a smile that promised you understanding.

Taehyung stepped out of the carriage first, grasping your right hand lightly and helping you descend onto the stone ground.

You let out a small "Thank you." and allowed your eyes to take in the beautiful castle.

Your carriage had dropped you off right infront of the main gate that, you could only assume lead to the main hall of the castle.

You knees began to wobble as you and taehyung took small strides towards the massive stone architecture. Nervousness was beginning to set in your stomach once again.

You felt Taehyung's warm hand grab yours and squeeze it in reassurance.

"You have nothing to worry about lady y/n. Jimin and Jungkook will welcome you with open arms, you are no enemy to them."

You nodded, still feeling slightly queasy as you watched the massive wooden doors swing open, revealing a huge room. You assumed that this was the ballroom. It was a mostly open space, except for one throne that was set on a small stage at the back of the room.

Two grand staircases were on each side of the room, each covered with velvety red carpet with specks of gold littered throughout, leading up the the second floor, and meeting where a small balcony overlooked the ballroom.

The room was empty all except for you and the elvish king beside you. His footmen were beginning to unpack your luggage and take them to only God knows where.

The castle didn't have as much marble and pearl as Taehyung's did, but you found that the wealth of this kingdom was expressed in gold instead of the white jems of the western kingdom. Gold armor adorned the guards that were now entering the room, their feet marching in perfect sync with one another, each of them offered a small bow to you and Taehyung.

There were also symbols of gold hung through the entirety of the room, and anything that was not gold was a dark hard wood.

"Well, well, well, if it isn't the elvish king himself."

You were pulled out of your thoughts by a man voice, it was deep, but not as smooth as Taehyung's.

The man was adorned in the same golden armor that the guards wore, except a golden lion was molded into the breast plate of his golden suit. A long, red, cape was flowing behind him as he took gentle steps towards the two of you.

His left hand held a golden helmet, his right hand shot out to wrap around Taehyung's neck in a friendly embrace.

The blond haired man chuckled and embraced the golden clad boy.

Your blue eyes trailed to the boy's face. His head was covered in chestnut locks, and styled short a few rebellious strands falling onto his face, his hair was a little bit messy, you assumed from wearing the helmet. His golden orbs were now studying your face intently, small specks of orange floating in his gaze and a small smile forming on his lips.

"In all my years, I would never have expected you to bring a female to our court. Have you finally chosen a queen, Taehyung?"

The purple eyed elf frowned and smacked his friends back playfully.

"You know me, Jungkook I've no time for women."

Your eyebrows raised.

So this is Prince Jungkook.

You watched as Taehyung chuckled with his friend.

"Where is Prince imin? Out daydreaming again?" Taehyung asked with a chuckle.

Jungkook released a sad sigh, clearly bothered by the subject change.

"He's in a meeting with the elders. Father's illness has gotten worse, so the pressure of being king is beginning to get to him."

Your eyebrows raised in interest. The king was sick? How sad. Jimin was probably feeling extremely tired and pressured by the kingdom.

Taehyung nodded sadly.

"Are he and Jin still at odds?"

Jungkooks brows furrowed together in aggravation as he allowed one of the guards to take the golden helmet from his grasp.

"I don't know what to do anymore, Taehyung. I can understand Jimin's frustration, but he is about to become king, he should not focus on such meager things."

Taehyung nodded, casting his gaze to yours for a moment.

You were honestly feeling very left out. They were talking about things you didn't understand, and quite frankly, it annoyed you.

Jungkook continued to speak.

"If Jimin wishes to, one day, be a great king, he must learn to let things go and-"

"Jungkook." A quiet, yet stern voice filled the ballroom. You turned, trying to find the source of the voice.

A young man, who looked to be about two years older than Jungkook , stood at the top of the staircase. His hair was silver, and the golden crown on top his head shined in the candle light, his face was slightly chubby, but his sharp features were prominent as he glared down at Jungkook.

He didn't wear armor, but instead wore a cream, button down shirt, made of silk, and a black tunic wrapped around his waist. His black trousers clung onto his muscular legs nicely, his muscles moving as he began to descended the steps, still glaring at Jungkook.

"Brother." Jungkook breathed out.

You mouth hung open as you watched the silver haired male move with grace and purpose down the grand flight of stairs.

"In the future, I'll thank you not to speak of our personal matters to visiting monarchs." He spoke coldly as he neared the end of the stair case, taking long stride towards your group.

You hear Jungkook sigh.

"Brother, this is Taehyung we are talking about. He already knows you hate Jin-"

"Jungkook!" You flinched visibly at the males loud warning.

Taehyung, noticing your discomfort, took a step towards the other male.

"Prince Jimin, I'm afraid you've frightened my guest."

Jimin?

The boy with the silver hair's eyes widened and a very light shade of pink made its way across his face, as he turned his golden gaze towards you.

"A-Ah, I'm sorry I didn't notice your presence, my lady."

You shook you head and tried your best to smile.

"It's okay, your highness."

A small smile graced Jumin's lips.

"And what is your name, maiden?"

You stole a glance at Taehyung, who was urging you on with his purple eyes.

" Y/N, your majesty."

Jimin grabbed your hand gently and offered you an eye smile.

"I am truly sorry for my behavior. A woman of nobility should not be subjected to the bantering of brothers."

You shook your head.

"It's really okay."

The prince before you continued to smile.

"Actually, my princes,"

Taehyung's deep voice interrupted your moment with the prince, catching his attention.

"We've come to ask for assistance from your advisor, Namjoon."

Jimin's eyebrow perked up at the mention of the sorcerers name.

"What kind of assistance?"

Taehyung glanced and you.

"Magical."

Jimin's eyes widened for only a second, his golden gaze turning to meet his brother.

"If you've come to ask for help from one of the most powerful sorcerers, your situation must be dyer." he stated in a shaky voice.

Taehyung nodded and motioned towards you.

"Dragon fire."

Jungkook's eyes widened and he stepped toward you, turning you to face him as he stared into your glowing orbs.

He swallowed thickly and faced his older brother.

"Brother, her eyes have seen dragon fire."

Jimin frowned and forced you to face him, taking his own time to study your gaze.

A curse escaped his lips. He released you from his grip and faced Taehyung.

"You should not have brought her here, you may have doomed us all."

Taehyung frowned and stepped towards the prince.

"Namjoon is the only one powerful enough to send her back to Realm wince she came. When she is sent home, the curse will follow her and all will be well."

Jimin sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose.

"My kingdom has not the weapons to fight a dragon, Taehyung. If her flame attracts one of the beasts, we will all surely parish."

It was now your turn to frown, upon hearing his words.

"That's all the more reason to send me home."

Jungkook shook his head.

"If you are truly from another realm, then any spell powerful enough to send you back will take days at the minimum."

"There has to be a way." You stated bravely. "I dont want me here either. I just want to go back home and get this curse out of my eyes."

Jimin released a sigh and nodded.

"I will call for Namjoon, but we keep this secret among ourselves. If Yoongi or Hoseok were to find out, they may want to use her to call the dragon and burn down the wall."

Everyone nodded.

"That may be hard, brother."

Jungkook stated.

"Why?"

"Because Yoongi and Hoseok just arrived."

A/N,

Edit: Since you all love the "imin" and "Jumin" typos, I just decided to leave them there.

I hope some of your questions are answered by this chapter, I promise things will start heating up very soon.
