Chapter 29: Ghosts
""At some point in life, we have to let go of the ghosts of our past."
-A. P.
The red headed sorcerer stood still as he gazed at you, his orange eyes shining as the candle light of the chandelier shone upon them. His chest heaved in exhaustion, and confusion as his hand stayed over his now closed wound.
Everyone was silent. As if no one could believe that he was actually there.... and could you blame them? Five minutes ago Hoseok was dead. His body cold and lifeless as it was laid upon a stone slab in the towns burial center.
Your heart continued to pound in your chest as you held eye contact with the sorcerer. He couldn't be alive right? You saw the sword pierce his chest, you saw the breath leave his body. There was no possible way that he could be alive.
Tears clouded your eyes as you watched Namjoon slowly move towards Hoseok, his golden eyes fixated on the previously dead man. Hoseok offered him a small smile of reassurance.
"H-How are you alive?" He asked quietly, his mind trying to take everything in.
Hoseok frowned at the question, his eyes moving back to meet yours. He released a soft chuckle, his hand moving to swipe a few rebellious strands of red hair away from his face
"This is going to sound insane," he stated quietly. "But I don't know."
Namjoon turned to face you, his eyebrow raising in curiosity at Hoseok words. He didn't know? Well Namjoon could understand that, after all Hoseok had been dead for almost two days, the sorcerer could only imagine the confusion he's feeling right now.
"You don't know?" You asked quietly. "How could you not know?!" You yelled as rebellious tears slipped down your face. You weren't angry, but you weren't relieved, you were confused. You didn't understand how any of this could actually be happening. People don't just come back to life. That's not how things work!
"You were dead!" You shouted as you moved out from behind the table, your body gravitating towards the red headed sorcerer, sadness swirling in your blue eyes. "You can't be alive! It- it's not natural!"
Hoseoks eyes saddened as he watched your shaking body advance towards his own, tears began to swell in his eyes that were now morphing into a soft yellow color.
"You died!" You screamed as you stood in front of Hoseok. "And- And now you're back with no explanation, with no-"
Hoseok cut your words short.
Your blue eyes widened as his warm lips slammed into your own. His left hand wrapped around your waist, pulling your body completely against his while his right hand cradled the back of your head. You didn't move. Your body was in shock at the sudden display of affection. Being in his arms felt warm, and peaceful. It felt like you were safe from any of the dangers of the magical world outside.
The men around the table sent hard glares onto the sorcerers back, but none of them advanced towards him, they all remained still, their eyes wide.
You placed your hands on Hoseok's chest, your arms slowly pushing his lips away from your own. He stared down at you with soft yellow eyes, that shone brightly with love and adoration, sending a deep blush straight to your cheeks.
"Why-why did you do that?" You asked quietly.
Hoseok smiled.
"I missed you."
A deep cough broke your staring contest with the sorcerer. Your blue eyes snapped over to Jungkook's fuming form. His shoulders were hunched as he leaned over the wooden table, his golden eyes piercing Hoseok as he stared directly at him.
"Sorry to interrupt," He growled out. "But I think that instead of watching you kiss someone who doesn't belong to you, we should try and figure out why exactly you're alive."
Hoseok nodded his head, his body moving away from yours awkwardly and moving to stand next to Namjoon, you began to fidget with your fingers."
"Y/n." Jungkook started lowly his eyes never leaving Hoseok's form. "Come here."
You eyes were wide as you watched Jungkook openly glare at the man who had kissed you, his hand on the hilt of his sword. You opened your mouth to argue with him, but the second his dangerous eyes met yours, you knew it would probably be in your best interest to obey the golden prince.
"Until we know how you're alive, we cannot just assume that this- this miracle is not temporary, and if that is the case then I do not want y/n around if you drop dead."
Namjoons eyes widened at the prince's harsh words, his gaze falling to inspect Jungkook's white knuckles, and rising again to see his clenching jaw.
"I thought you said no magic was powerful enough to bring him back." Jimin's stern voice stated.
Namjoon nodded, rubbing his chin in thought as he inspected the living sorcerer.
"There isn't." He defended. "At least not that I know of.."
"Well obviously there is!" Yoongi roared, causing everyone to jump in shock. "I thought you were supposed to know everything! What kind of sorcerer are you?!"
"Yoongi!" You scolded, as the raven king turned to face you. "It isn't his fault, he didn't know!"
Yoongi scoffed.
"Of course you'd defend him, seems like you've got a thing for sorcerers." Your eyes widened. "I honestly don't want to hear any input from you right now. Stay out of it!"
You glared at the Dragon King with all of your might, sending icy daggers at him with your blue eyes.
"You-"
"ENOUGH!"
Hoseok's loud voice cut through the tension. His orange eyes landing back on Namjoon as he released a heavy sigh.
"Maybe this isn't some spell." Hoseok started. "Maybe it's an enchantment."
"What's the difference?" Jin piped in. "They're both magical hexes correct?"
Namjoon nodded, his golden gaze dropping down to the floor.
"They are. But spells are used on people, like love spells, wealth spells, and so on... enchantments are used on objects, for instance if you didn't want to sweep you would enchant your broom and it would do the job itself."
Jin nodded in understanding.
"I suppose it could be possible," Hoseok said. "But finding the enchanted object may prove to be extremely difficult especially since this happened almost two full days ago."
"What about Nathaniel's sword?" The words left your mouth before you could even register them. "The sword was the only thing that touched Hoseok as he died and it was even still in his body when he.. passed away. Wouldn't it make sense if that were the enchanted object?"
Namjoon nodded, his golden eyes lighting up at the words that came from your mouth.
"Is Nathaniel's sword still in the armory?" He asked Jungkook.
The golden prince nodded.
"Then that is where we need to be."
------------------------
You all stood silent as you watched Namjoon inspect the steel object, his golden eyes scanning the sword with intensity as he mumbled incoherent things to himself.
You stood awkwardly between Hoseok and Jungkook. The red head sorcerer slowly reaching over and entangling his warm hand with your own.
Jungkook's golden eyes managed to catch the display of affection and he swiftly moved to stand between the two of you, sending glares to Hoseok.
"You were dead," Jungkook whispered to Hoseok. "You lost your chance."
Hoseok's orange gaze hardened on the younger man as his mind fully registered his words. Anger settling on his chest as he watched Jungkook slowly move closer towards you.
"Y/n was right." Namjoon stated as he placed the sword down. "The sword was enchanted."
"But who enchanted it?" You asked quietly.
"I did."
Your body jumped slightly at the new feminine voice that filled the air, a beautiful woman suddenly stepping out from the shadows.
Her hair was black as night, shining underneath the light of the candles that lined the walls of the room, her lips were cherry red, and her clothes were made from the finest linens and shiny silks, each fabric making a sound as she confidently strode into the candle lit room.
"Hannah?" Jimin's voice spoke softly. "What are you doing here?"
A smile formed on the woman's red lips as her golden eyes met Jimin's.
"Your father is angry and he sent me with a message for you."
"What is the message?" Jungkook asked as he glared at the woman.
She smirked.
"You've been on this silly quest for too long," she started slowly. "It's time to come back home, and marry me."
