The Converter

What was suppose to be a busy marketplace was a barren desert, some market stands sprinkled across the desert. Groups of tourist buses pulled in from different directions, making it easy for the agents' bus to come through undetected. Valerian, Laureline, Tom, and Grace all moved out of the bus and stepped into the scorching sunlight. But before Grace could enter the bus again, Tom pulled on her arm, leading her to be mere inches away from him.

"I wanna ask you something"

"If your gonna ask me to marry you, I'm gonna put you as clinically insane"
Tom turned flustered at that and turned a bit red. She widened her eyes in surprise.
"Seriously Tom, before a mission you decide to ask a girl to marry you?" Grace asked, raising an eyebrow at him.

"Your the one Grace"

"Clear you're playlist before you say that" She turned around and went back into the bus. Tom turned around and faced Valerian who had the same conversation with Laureline.

"No luck?"asked Valerian.

"Nope and I can see that it didn't work well between you and Laureline either"

"That's true," Valerian muttered out before walking to the entrance of the market. He smirked as he walked in, the thrill of doing a mission will never go away for him.

"Val," Grace said into a mini intercom she had,"can you hear me?"

"Loud and clear G," Valerian replied, busy blending into the crowd of shoppers with Tom.

"Laureline is going to come later and hand you the container to hold the Converter and tell Tom to put his intercom on"

"Orders received loud and clear."

"Then I'll get out of your ear V," she said as she flipped the switch to talk to Tom. "Tom?"

"Hear you loud and clear"

"I'm going to drop you a package when you signal me with the intercom and make sure to check by weapons dude"

"Yes sir"

"I'm not a sir"

"Too bad." Grace rolled her eyes and suddenly the bus came to a shuttering stop as they arrived at the doors behind the market. Meanwhile, Tom and Valerian walked on in, hearing a bunch of excited chatter coming from the shoppers. Their tour guide was just then telling them to put on their glasses to see the marketplace since it was located in a different dimension. The two boys nodded at each other before splitting up, Tom going to one of the few stalls in the marketplace and Valerian studying a map. None though seemed to notice the two hooded figures moving along the crowd, both stopping behind Valerian, observing him. Valerian frowned when he turned around though, excepting to face the people who were staring at him, but he dismissed it.

"You guys in?" Laureline asked, the intercom crackling to life.

"Yeah, I'm going in now and Toms in already, probably looking for the weapons"

"Good cause I'm coming in now"

"See you there then my future wife." huffed at that comment and Grace looked like she had a frog in her mouth. Laureline and a squad of troopers climbed out, knocking out an alien with a gun.

"Got control?" she asked one of them who was forming a connection to control the alien.

"Yup" he replied, starting to play with the aliens limbs.

"L, your up," Grace said into the intercom and hopped out of the bus herself, checking to make sure she had the package for Tom, and blew a hole into the back gate. Laureline and Grace both entered the marketplace, going in different directions.

"Where in the world are you Tom," Grace asked, walking aimlessly.

"Right behind you." Grace jumped as Tom wrapped his arms around her waist. She groaned and glared at him. She handed him a the package which was a small gun and he stashed in his pocket.

"I've done my mission if that's what you were about to ask," he said, smiling.

"V, is he correct?"

"Yup, he gave me it seven minutes ago"

"See I'm responsible," Tom exclaimed, pouting. With that, she just smirked and kissed Tom on the cheek.

"You just wanted that didn't you?" Grace asked. She was replied by a slight nod of his head. She rolled her eyes.

Suddenly, dust began to blow all around them as a bomb exploded near them. Soon, they were surrounded by screaming shoppers and panicking tour guides. Tom and Grace ran toward the source of the noise.

"Val, what did you do?" Tom asked.

"Uh...nothing?"

"Does the bomb look like nothing!" Grace yelled into the intercom.

"Hey your not the one running from a huge mob boss!"

"Whatever," she said, rolling her eyes.

"Hey G, what's that?" Tom asked, worry sketched in his facial expression. Grace turned to see Valerian and Laureline running as fast as the wind and a huge object seemed to be chasing them.

"V is so in trouble for letting hell break loose and breaking my perfect record," Grace murmured in response.
