Mintburr padded through the huge trees of his forest home, his shimmery white fur standing out in the lush green of the bushes. He stepped into a clearing, and saw a black tom sitting in the middle. He looked up at Mintburr and smiled warmly.

"Hello, Minty." He meowed, with so much warmth in his voice that Mintburr's heart melted with happiness.

"CROWSTAR!" Mintburr grinned at his father, recognizing the nickname he'd missed more than anything since the leader's death. He bounded towards him and took in the purr from the spirit in front of him greatfully as he sunk his muzzle into his soft fur. "How are you?"

His father licked his son's forehead and smiled. "I'm alright."

"What about Treeheart?" Mintburr asked, remembering the other tom who had adopded him into the Clan and raised him as his own.

Crowstar chuckled. "He's doing well. But sadly, I'm not here to speak of good news."

Mintburr's smile droped, and he tilted his head to the left and asked, "What is it then?"

Crowstar sighed, and gave his son a serious look. "It's about your apprentice."

Mintburr's eyes grew wide with worry. "What's wrong with her? Is she not the right cat?"

"No, no. She is destined to become windClan's next Medicine Cat. But..." Crowstar's eyes went off to the side as if he was worried.

"What's going to happen?" Mintburr asked.

His father sighed before continuing. "She's going to bare kits."

Mintburr's eyes widened. "But she's only an APPRENTICE! And not just that, she's a Medicine Cat apprentice!

Crowstar laughed slightly. "Not NOW! I mean in the future!"

"Oh. Oh thank StarClan!" Mintburr sighed.

"Indeed." Crowstar said, his face returning to a more serious expression. "But you're going to have to help her through it. Because believe it or not, but those kits will be important."

"How?" Mintburr asked.

"Time will tell, my son. Time will tell." His father murmered, his appearance fading into nothing.

Mintburr closed his eyes, and when he opened them, he was back in his den, his apprentice, Moonpaw, sleeping peacefully nearby.

Oh little one, he thought. If only I knew more. No matter what, I will always help and stand with you. I promise.

He stood up and prodded her awake, her white, silver striped tail twitching as she stretched. She really is an interesting sight.

She yawned and looked up at him. "Morning Mintburr!" She meowed cheerfully, smiling widely. "What's up? Wow it's REALLY early! The sun's not even out!"

"Actually, it's very late." Lavenderleg poked her head in through the small tunnel. "It's almost time for the gathering." 

"OOOOH! We'll be out in a moment Mother!" Moonpaw called.

Lavenderleg smiled at her daughters enthusiasm. "Alright. See you soon my darling." And with that, she retracted her head, her tail brushing the outside of the tunnel slightly as she turned.

"Hey, Mintburr, you said that if I ever had an odd dream, then I should tell you, right?" Moonpaw suddenly asked.

"Yes. Why? What did you dream about?" Mintburr asked.

"Well..." Moonpaw bit her lip, as if she was trying to figure out what to say. "There was this cat. And he acted like he new me, but I'd never seen him before. But somehow, I knew his name."

"And what was it?" Mintburr asked.

"Nightfeather." She said.

"Hmmm..." Mintburr murmered. "What did he look like?"

"Tall, dark gray, almost black pelt,  a black ticked tabby pattern. And very handsome." She meowed.

That kind of sounds like Nightpaw. But he's not very tall, so how could...?

"Mintburr?" Moonpaw said, snapping him from his thoughts.

"Well... it kind of sounds like you're describing ThunderClan's Medicine Cat apprentice, but he's very short so I'm not sure if it's the same cat..." He meowed.

"Oh. That's odd." Moonpaw murmered.

"Indeed." Mintburr agreed. "Well, he should be at the Gathering, so you can tell me if he looks like the cat from your dream afterward."

"Alright." She said, and the two padded out of the den.
