Brynn's pov

We all stood in line, side by side as we started at shadis waiting for ordered.

"It's aptitude test time, so listen up! There is no place for you here if you cannot perform! Fail and you'll be shipped to the fields!" He screamed. I laughed a bit.

"Over my dead body" I muttered.

"Hunter ! Your up first !" He screamed. I saluted him and went to one of the free test stations. They hooked me in and I just balanced my weight. Simple as hell. I could do this in my sleep. It isn't that ha-... why the fuck is Eren upside down ?

"What is your major malfunction, Yaeger?!Straighten yourself up!" Shadis yelled. I cocked my head to the side curiously.

I got down from the est station and went to Eren helping him out and to his feet.

After a few more people failed and accomplished the task everyone left. Just as I was about to fallow shadis gripped my shoulder tightly.

"Brynn.. we need to talk.." he said.

"What is it Shadis ?" I asked.

He sighed. "First off I know you get attached to people easily... I don't believe your friends will make it if they cling onto the past. Ackerman and Artlert are fine.. it's Yeager that I am conceded about" he said.

"You being concerned ? That's a first " I told him with a smirk.

He gave me a look saying this was no laughing matter.

"If you want him to get into the scouts and survive I suggest you try harder." He to me.

"Fine.. Now what did you actually want to talk to me about ?" I asked.

"... when you left the mess hall earlier last night did you meet anyone that shouldn't be here.

Kenny...

"Nope. Not a single person sir" I lied. He believed me and I was grateful for it. I then left.

Time skip

We were back at the odm training stations. Admin and mikasa stood beside Eren as they hooked him up. I sat on the floor and watched for any malfunctions with his gear.

Yet I was only half paying attention. Ever since my incounter with Kenny and that nightmare he won't leave my mind.. and since Levi was there two my mind is telling me that they have something to do with each other.. they do have similar scowls and builds.. there voices have the same edge to them..

I began to sketch.. even if they did have something to do with each other something was off..

"Just remember the basics and you should be fine. No need try any fancy maneuvers. Just focus on your balance, then distribute your weight evenly between the belts on your waist and your legs. Right brynn?" One of my friends asked me.

I hummed in approval as a response to their question, not even glancing up.

"Loosen up your stance a little bit. If I could do it, I know that you can." Admin told him positively. I closed my book and went back to focusing on my friends.

"Okay, a loose stance but balanced. Let's give it a shot, Armin." Eren said. Armin nodded and stayed to raise Eren. He was actually doing it.

"Go Eren ! Your doing grea-" suddenly he flipped over and smashed his head on the floor. I shot up off the ground. "Eren !!" We all screamed.

Timeskip

After I went back to get changed I started to walk to the mess hall. Armin had taken Eren to the boy's cabin saying he would look after him.

I walked into the mess hall. Armin waved at me to show where he was. I smiled. I began to walk over yet froze at the sound of a conversation.

"Hey,Daz. He was talking big about butchering all the titans but he got real quiet after ODM training, didn't he?" Said one boy.

"I guess it's the fields for him tomorrow. Can't keep wasting food on the useless." Said the other. I smacked them both upside the head and left, giving them Levi's signature death glare to make them shut up.

"Eren!" Armin said getting eren's attention as I sat at the table.

"Worrying won't solve a thing. There's still time to get some practice and come morning" I said.

"How pathetic... How am I supposed to kill them if I can't even stand up straight." Eren said.

"Hey! Don't get yourself down like that! We can do this toge-"I began yet mikasa interrupted me.

"It might be time to let that dream die." She said. I started at her in disbelief.

"The fuck is that supposed to mean?.." I asked.

"I think you and Eren should give up this attempt to be a soldier." She replied. "There is lot more to fighting and combat than just throwing your life away in vain."

I growled.

"What are you saying?.." Eren asked. He then looked furious."After everything we saw that day?! After what happened to my mom?! After what happened to brynn's leg ?! You are crazy if you think I 'm just gonna walk away." Eren screamed.

"I get it. But it doesn't matter how determined you are." She said.

"Wa...wait, what do you mean?" Eren said.

"Because whether or not you are fit to be a soldier isn't up to you." She said. I'd heard enough. I got up, ignoring her completely. Eren and Armin fallowed.

I went to our cabin and got changed. I sat in the bed and opened my sketch book.. clearing my mind and continuing to draw sketches of kenny and levi.. he seemed to be a new subject in my drawings. Was he really being honest with me?... if he really did know where my father was does he now where my grandfather is ?... I pray so.. I miss them so much.. with out that hopeful thought in my mind I would have become a shell by now..

A ghost pain ran up my leg yanking me from my thoughts and I bit my lip, to prevent my screams from escaping.

Another thing to remind me of that horrible day.. and it will stay with me till the day I die.. and I hate myself for it..

I sighed. I put my pencils away and left my sket book open beside me. I lay down and went to fall asleep.

I saw four figures walking through the darkness. I made out eren's face. I smiled slightly as sleep finally took me.
