Marie
A/N: First of all, this is not a cliché story, so if you want to read that schist, you have come to the wrong place. Of course, you are an absolute idiot if you want to read that. Just saying.
You will not find any Percabeth, Jasper, Caleo or other ships which are usually shown. We are here to present to you all the other ships including but not limited to: Chrisse, Gruniper, Tratie, Frazel. Don't like. Don't read. If you don't ship those, you are a babbling bumbling baboon who needs to head straight to Azkaban. Like, right away.
But don't feel the hate...just feel the death glares of us fangirls.
Let's get started and, no, it's not going to start with hello or hi...
Disclaimer:
The characters belong to Rick Riordan, as do the PJO and HoO series.

Marie Levesque had just made the worst decision of her life. She of course, didn't know it yet. But as she gathered her items into a small bag, she couldn't have been more sure in her life that she was doing the right thing.
So when the door opened, she expected her daughter Hazel to be back from school. But the man that entered left her stumbling backwards, nearly falling over the seánce table.
"Hello Marie," said Pluto. "Beautiful as always."
She stared at him in shock. Thirteen years and he had never shown up again. Not even once since that cold night she had discovered his disappearance. Leaving her poor and pregnant with his child. She was going to be a queen, he had promised, she would get all the Wealth of the Underworld. He was a filthy, blasted liar. She had never wanted to see his face again.
And as she looked at him now, he had not aged. In thirteen years, he still looked the same as he did that night when they first met. He was immortal, she reminded herself. A god. She could have been immortal too, an eternal spirit. A real queen.
"You," she managed, standing upright. "You! What are you doing here?! I want you out of my home. Out of-"
"I know what you're doing Marie. It's not going to do anything. Well, that's a lie. It will put you in more danger."
"You know nothing!" she shrieked, as she clutched onto a nearby lamp and threw it at him. Marie watched it soar through the air as Pluto lazily flicked it away in one swift movement. That only made her more furious.
"You've never been there for us!" A book on Palm Reading flew across the room. "You left me to raise your cursed child! It's your fault that she's cursed!"
"She's just outside," said Pluto.
"She- what?!" Marie asked, "What did you say to her- what did-"
"I gave her a birthday present. A sketchbook. Very passionate on art she is, Hazel."
"I don't care! I'm sticking to the plan. We'll be safe in Alaska. Safer than here anyway! Now, go!" Marie shrieked, grabbing a pottery bowl- filled with rubies. This was also flung across the room at the God.
"Marie, it's insanity," Pluto argured. "You'll be far beyond my power to protect you."
"Protect me?" Marie yelled. "When have you ever protected me?!"
"You have no idea," he said. "I've kept you alive, you and the child. My enemies are everywhere among gods and men. Now with the war on, it will only get worse. You must stay where I can-"
"The police think I'm a murderer!" Marie shouted. Pluto's empty words meant nothing to her. "My clients want to hang me as a witch! And Hazel- her curse is getting worse. Your protection is killing us."
Pluto spread his hands in a pleading gesture. "Marie, please-"
"No!" Queen Marie turned to the closet, pulled out a leather valise, and threw it on the table. "We're leaving," she announced. "You can keep your protection. We're going north."
"Marie, it's a trap," Pluto warned. "Whoever's whispering in your ear, whoever's turning you against me-"
"You turned me against you!" she picked up a porcelain vase and threw it at him. It shattered on the floor, and precious stones spilled everywhere- emeralds, rubies, diamonds. Her daughter's entire collection. Cursed stones. Cursed Child. And it was all his fault.
"You won't survive," Pluto said, now nearly begging her. But her mind was set, and his begging only made her more determined. "If you go north, you'll both die. I can foresee that clearly."
"Get out!" she said, her voice colder than ice. The god stared at her a moment before turning away and disappearing before her eyes. Marie felt as if she wanted to crawl away into a hole and burst into tears, but she knew that her daughter was waiting outside the door. She had to stay strong.
.oOo.
The first night, on their expedition to Alaska, Marie wept. Her daughter, asleep was so clueless. Marie couldn't help but think after her rage with Pluto the first time she had laid eyes on the man. The man she used to claim she loved.
Marie had always been poor. Twenty-one years old and the young woman was struggling to find a job. But it was that one day in the cold little shop in New Orleans that changed her perspective on life forever.
"Have you found everything okay?" The woman at the cashier asked her. She had long silky black hair and a long pale face.
"I think so," said Marie, "it's just that-"
"What?" asked the woman.
"There was this book I was looking for. I was told that this place may have it, but-"
"What's it called?" the said, looking a little more interested.
"Finding the Future, by Annette Veera. Lately I've taken to the hobby of fortune telling, just as a little hobby but-"
The woman left the counter and turned to a large shelf of books, and pulled out a large blue book.
"Three Dollars, and fifteen cents."
Marie looked appalled.
"That much for a book?"
"I'm afraid I don't set the prices these days," said the woman. "But I can arrange a deal with you."
"Arrange a deal?"
She pulled out another book from the shelf, "If you pay full price for 'Finding the Future', I will give you this copy of 'Summoning the Spirits' for free."
"What's the catch?" Marie questioned quickly. She always loved a good bargain, but this woman seemed too quick to make a deal like this.
"None. I always like to help a woman out once in a while, it makes a good change. Doesn't it?"
"Yes, it does," agreed Marie, handing over the change for the books.
Walking out the door of the shop, Marie turned back towards the woman. "I'm sorry, it's just that I never got your name."
The woman paused a second before answering, "Hecate. My name's Hecate. And I wish you good luck, Marie Levesque. There is no doubt that in upcoming times like these that you will need it."
At the time, Marie walked out of the shop puzzled at what this strange 'Hecate' had meant. That night she went back to her small apartment she had rented above a popular jazz club. Instead of opening up the book she had originally planned to buy, she opened up the second book. She was curious to see what she had earned.
She scanned the table of contents first, to see what the book was mainly about. Not much caught her attention, until she saw something on summoning 'Higher Beings'.
"What the heck?" Marie asked herself, turning to the page. Reading the description, she laughed to herself. She really didn't believe in this 'voodoo magic'. It was just a hobby, a silly joke. Propping the book open on the table in front of her she silently laughed to herself. She was about to 'summon' a God.
.oOo.
The next morning, Marie woke up to a knock on her door. Well that's strange, she thought. Who would be here on a Sunday morning?
Still in her nightdress, she opened the door. There stood a tall white man, with jet black hair that oddly contrasted with his almost milk white skin. He wore a dark suit, made of strange fabric that if you looked close enough seemed to be moving as if there were lost souls trying to escape from the folds of his clothes.
Marie felt as if she should've been frightened, for such a man to randomly appear on her doorstep. But something told her that it wasn't that random, that it wasn't relatively random at all.
"Marie Levesque," the man said, "I believe you summoned me."
"Summoned, what-" then the events of the previous night came rushing back to her. It had worked? She had literally summoned 'a God'? She couldn't help think that magic wasn't supposed to be real. It was a joke! But no matter how much Marie tried to convince herself wrong, she knew deep inside her the truth.
"I am Pluto," he said, "God of the Underworld and Wealth. Last night you, Marie Levesque summoned me. It is uncommon for mere mortals to call on a God. Therefore, I present you with one wish, use it wisely."
Her first instinct was to run and call the asylum, because Marie couldn't have simply conjured up a God. It-it was impossible! But when she looked closer, Marie realized he couldn't possibly be a normal man and the clothing 'Pluto' wore and the look....
Yes, he was god.
Straightening herself, Marie said, "A wish?"
"Any wish. Anything within my power."
"You say that you're the God of the Underworld? And Wealth?"
"Yes."
"How do I know you're not lying?" the question slipped out of Marie's mouth.
"I swear, on the River Styx." Pluto noticed her confused expression, "An oath of the Gods. An unbreakable one."
Marie thought a second before replying, "I wish for all your Wealth. The Wealth of your Underworld."
Pluto seemed taken aback before smiling at Marie.
"Thank you, Marie Levesque."
He turned away and closed the door, leaving Marie in question. What had just happened?
