Fredena
A/N: First of all, this is not a cliché story, so if you want to read that schist, you have come to the wrong place. Of course, you are an absolute idiot if you want to read that. Just saying.
You will not find any Percabeth, Jasper, Caleo or other ships which are usually shown. We are here to present to you all the other ships including but not limited to: Chrisse, Gruniper, Tratie, Frazel. Don't like. Don't read. If you don't ship those, you are a babbling bumbling baboon who needs to head straight to Azkaban. Like, right away.
But don't feel the hate...just feel the death glares of us fangirls.
Let's get started and, no, it's not going to start with hello or hi...

The library was almost empty at this time, but he liked to come here at this time, especially. He had been studying here for a long time, or sometimes just coming to pick up an interesting book that had caught his eye. But, right then, he felt like there was no hope for him at all. What was he doing, still hanging around here? He'd have to go get a high school dropout kind of job, and that was what everyone would assume he was.
He buried his face in his hands, the prospect seeming too horrible to think about. The book he'd been reading flopped open on the table. He stayed that way for a minute or two and then someone tapped him on the shoulder.
Frederick looked up.
A concerned-looking woman was standing over him. She has black hair braided down her back and stormy gray eyes. She was holding a children's book in her hands.
"Are you okay?"
Before Fredrick could stop himself, the words stumbled out of his mouth. "Yeah, it's just that I just found out that I don't have enough money to get into college, and-" he let out a sigh-"it's what I've always wanted to do. I want to study history, military history especially, and maybe get a Phd in it, and I can't get a diploma, since it's only the best of the best who get that, and I'm not good enough, and-l" he stopped himself. "I'm so sorry, I don't know what came over me. I didn't want to burden you with all my problems. Thank you for asking, though."
The woman smiled and he saw something in her eyes that made him like her instantly. It was the eager curiosity that all scientists carry with them, and which he knew he had, too. There was something else, too, though, something he couldn't quite put his finger on at first. Then he realised what it was. The look of someone who has lived a long time but never fails to be fascinated by everything around her. Yet, she looked young, his age.
She sat down in the chair next to him. He blinked. He had been sure there wasn't a seat there before. No, it had been there all the time, of course. Frederick felt so confused he missed out on some of what the woman was saying.
"....always been interested in history, too," she was telling him. "I always like to talk to people who share my love of it. So, tell me, what is it that you find fascinating in history? Other than military history?"
He felt himself warm to her even more.
"Well, World War II is really interesting, especially the politics behind it. It's impressive how Hitler could, almost effortlessly, win people over. And then how everybody later blamed everything on him. Of course, he started it, but the Soviet Union's leader had more people killed than Hitler. And, also, World War II is the beginning of NATO, FN, and just generally the start of the American Century."
He looked up at the woman, afraid he had bored her. But she started talking at once.
"I agree, it's strange how Hitler is always seen as the villain in the story of World War II, and how the Germans get blamed for the massacres, and everything else that led to the high decrease in population. But, as I'm sure you know, it is always the winner who writes the story. In fact, did you know that the Volkswagen, the cheap car brand, was actually invented by Hitler, so you could get a car more easily? I mean, after World War I, Germany's economy was ruined. And then Hitler came along and started to run everything so smoothly. It's only natural that so many people fought for him. The real problem was that he mostly just produced weapons. If he hadn't started World War II, Germany would have done wonderfully."
He looked at the woman in surprise.
"You're the first person I've ever met who knows if not more, just as much, about World War II as I do. So, before I forget to ask, what's your name?"
She beamed. "Thanks. My name is Athena. What's yours?"
"Athena? Like the Greek goddess of wisdom?" He put out his hand.
Athena smiled. "Yes, just like her. So, what was your name again?"
"Oh, I'm Frederick Chase."
She took his hand and shook it gently. "From what I've heard so far, I can't understand why you can't get into college."
"Well, a diploma is you know, the best of the best. And you need to be good at everything for it, but my problem is that I get nervous under pressure, and then I forget everything I've learned."
"You know, that's a pretty normal problem. It's a lot about confidence. Maybe I could help?"
Frederick wasn't sure Athena could help, since she didn't look like she ever had had problems with her confident demeanor, intimidating gray eyes and stubborn expression.
"Sure, that would be nice," he said anyway.
Athena gave him a quick smile. "Then, let's get started."
He stares at her in disbelief. "You-you would really do that?"
"Of course,"Athena said swiftly. "I love to help when I know something about what problems people are experiencing. And you'll find there's not much I don't know about." She paused. "That sounded self centred, but you understand what I mean."
"I do," he said, twinkling at her.
She took his book and opened it with graceful fingers that slid across the page. "Now, gum is one of many things that can help you, said to lessen your pressure and nervosity by thirty percent. If you chew while you work, you may find very good results. It has helped me many times over the years."
Frederick couldn't help but wonder how many years that would be.
"As you already know, breakfast helps. As I quote, 'The most important meal of the day.' With healthy food and some protein (eggs are always a great option) you'll feel calmer. And, to be certain, I think I already know the answer to this but I'll ask one more time, do you want this?"
"Yes." It had been his dream for a long time.
"That want, need, it should help you along the way for confidence. Focus on that more and pretend you are just back in a relaxing area reciting it to yourself."
Frederick nodded again. It all made sense when he went over it in his head.
Athena smiled kindly at him. "Does that help?"
"Yes. It helps. It helps a lot. Thank you," he said.
"No problem. So if you want I could help you study this time tomorrow?" Athena asked, even though it didn't sounded like a question.
Normally Frederick didn't like to work with a partner, but he had nothing against it if it was Athena. "Yeah, I would love to."
"Oh, and one last thing before I go. Did you know that small joke that children play on each other? The 'guess what one?"
Frederick nodded, very familiar with that.
"Well,"Athena said, a small smile playing at the corner of her mouth. "They are wrong. Chickens don't have butts, they have tail feathers."
