Chapter 12

~Poison's POV~

With Tulip on her head eating grapes and playing with her scales, Poison boredly walked beside Kinkajou and Moon to the music cave. They had class in there next and Tulip was bouncing with energy and excitement which is why Poison gave her fruits to keep her mouth shut.

Poison was so tempted to shove Tulip on Kinkajou's head and walk off, but she also wanted to see Qibli playing the drums. She might not be comfortable singing and playing in front of others, but she had a deep love for music, especially the guitar. He used to love music and had taught her how to talk to music, how to feel and breathe music.

As they entered the cave, Poison found herself a corner to sit in and close her eyes waiting for the chaos to start. It was a music class, so it was expected for it to be loud, and Poison didn't mind the loudness at all. Most her life she lived in deafening silence with the only exception being her brain and the only escape being Tulip and flying. She didn't mind chaos and mayhem at all, in fact she craved it.

Poison's eyes lazily open as she feels Qibli's presence nearing and there he was. The second he stepped in the cave, he bounced to the drums and as always, he didn't play them, he flowed with them. It was like he was one with the beat as music fills the room and everyone slowly joined in. Tulip was jumping up and down on a table next to Qibli, dancing and swaying to the music.

Slowly, even Poison starts smiling softly looking at the scene in front of her. Joy was sparkled in the air, it made her feel warm.

She didn't dance or sing, she didn't even move from her spot. She either closed her eyes and felt the music or was watching over Tulip. Yet even though she didn't do anything, she had fun.

When the music session ended, Poison surprisingly found herself disappointed, but of course she didn't express it.

"That was so fun, you should have let loose with us nah." Tulip grinned brightly, still not over the high of music, but then she says softly. "I miss the dance sessions we had when we lived alone."

Poison looked at Tulip but couldn't hold the eye contact and instead picked her up. She missed when it was just them both too, but she knew she couldn't ever go back to that life, even if she wanted to.

Thankfully she was saved the trouble of answering as Moon shyly walked up to them with a scroll in her talons, asking if they would join her to the library again.

Poison and Moon unsurprisingly had common interests when it came to reading because Poison read basically everything, cute fluffy romance (which she won't admit to anyone) all the way to gruesome and bloody ideas for torturing dragons (which most people would assume she reads).

"Hm, I suppose his scrolls are quite insightful, yet I feel he's quite arrogant with his writing." Poison mused over a random writer that was apparently one of Moon's favourite.

Before they could continue, Winter decided to randomly grace the individual's with his oh so magnificent presence.

Poison and Tulip simultaneously raise an eyebrow, looking at 'his majesty' with bored curiosity. They might as well have been straight up glaring at the pour soul.

"I want you to look at my scavenger," Winter demanded, rather than requesting as he should have. His attention was clearly more shifted towards Moon rather than the other two, suspicious, you think not?

"Oh," Moon faltered, "I- I mean, sure, but- I don't really know anything about them."

"Then use your intuition or whatever," he said a bit ominously.

"I was just, um, going to the library," Moon said clearing going to say more, but Winter interrupted her, speaking over her.

"Talk about being a rude brat." Poison muttered to Tulip, rolling her eyes.

"I know right?" Tulip replied, huffing.

Hold... why didn't Tulip asking me what they were talking about? Poison pondered, for some reason she thought back to all the times Tulip acted like she actually understood what the dragons were talking about.

"It's clear as day that Moon was gonna say something else. Mister Coldness could have waited instead of interrupting." Tulip quickly added. Poison felt a little stupid because of course, Tulip is smart, she would have easily understood. Yet she still couldn't shake off the weird feeling that grew in her chest.

Soon Kinkajou, that ray of sunshine bounced over and attacked Moon with questions Poison couldn't be bothered to listen to because they had arrived at the library. She was about go and find something to read when Fatespeaker called her over.

"Ah, Poison! You got a letter from Deathbringer this morning." Fatespeaker said brightly, waving a black envelope in her claws. She was seated next to Sunny and Starflight who also wave in greeting.

Poison walked over to her and bowed her head with a whispered thanks as she grabbed the dark coloured envelope. She nodded at the other two in greeting, not bothering for a chat. Tulip took this chance and jumped off Poison's shoulders to go and blabber to the two NightWings and the peculiar SandWing princess.

Poison walked over to the back end of the library where there was a hidden corner that only her and Tulip knew off, not even the founders of the academy knew of this special little place. She had asked Starflight if there were any hidden corners in the library to confirm.

The hidden corner was covered by bookshelves on two of its sides and by the cave itself from the other two sides. No one would have been able to detect that the corner is there unless they already knew where the corner was and were specifically looking for it.

Poison pushed one of the selves just enough for her little dragon body to squeeze in. There was a pile of beanbags to lay on and a little desk near the bean bags to place scrolls on. On one of the cave sides there was a little hole showing the outside sky which she had covered by some leaves she had found.

She was just about to open the letter when she felt the vibrations of Winter entering the library. She hid the letter under one of the bean bags and got out of the hidden corner. Not that she would ever admit it, but she was curious.

She arrived where Winter, Kinkajou and Moon were just in time to hear what Moon had to say. Tulip had somehow wiggled her way to Kinkajou and was currently laying on her now. That cute little creature couldn't stay still if her life depended on it.

"Did you build all this?" Moon asked, touching the cage lightly with one claw.

Poison had to admit the cage was very detailed and beautiful. It must have taken Winter a lot of time to build everything in it.

"All the stuff inside. I thought he'd like it, but he's hardly used any of it — he won't climb on the swing or use the running wheel. Mostly he eats and then goes back to sleep. I thought scavengers were curious and unpredictable, but he's been unbelievably boring." the IceWing gave Moon a sideways look. "Any suggestions? Is he sick? I've been feeding him fruit, so he's eating fine. Why won't he do anything?"

Without caring for any approval, Poison walked over to the little cage and kneeled to its level. She opened the cage and extended her claw towards the little bed where Bandit was. She ignored Winter's warnings and spoke to Bandit in a soft voice.

"Hey, remember me?" Poison asked in a caring tone, watching Tulip go inside the cave and play around on the things Winter had made. Bandit might not have care for the things provided, but Tulip took full advantage of the playthings, grinning.

"Hehe, Draco is quite smart. I like you now." Tulip giggled pointing to Winter. She sticked her tongue out at him when he looked at her confusedly. "Don't you dare tell him I said anything."

Bandit on the other hand, got up and slowly made his way towards Poison's claw. He sat on top of it with his legs and arms crossed with a little pout. Poison took him out of the cave and placed him in front of her, a warm smile on her face.

"Is someone angry with me?" Poison asked him curiously, tilting her head. Bandit started saying somethings in his language, looking back at Tulip as he spoke.

"He says, 'I miss my family and my freedom'," Tulip said with a shrug as she walked back towards them. Even though what she said was sad, Tulip was someone who would say 'womp womp' at a funeral. "Yo, could ya ask Draco if he can make me a cage? Ew I never thought I'd say that." She made a face before bursting into laughter. "Ignore me, I'm drunk, gimme cocaine."

Ignoring Tulip's maniac cackles, Poison felt a tinge of sadness in her heart hearing that. She knew how much it hurt being away from her family. She was devastated when he died and if she didn't even want to think about what would happen to her if she was separated from Tulip too now.

"I am sorry, I wish I could have helped you," Poison whispered looking Bandit in the eyes.

"-ke friends with it," Poison heard Moon suggest and looked up at her realising that there was a conversation going on between Sunny, Winter, Kinkajou, Moon and even Carnelian was there.

"He's not an 'it', he might be a different species, but he's still a living being and not an object." Poison said to Moon. She spoke in a levelled and normal tone, but she might as well have yelled from the way Moon flinched.

"Bandit is suffocating in that cage, it mightbe a very pretty cage, but it's still that. A cage. He deserves some freedomand fresh air. I'm going to go give him a ride. If you don't trust me with him,you are a lacklustre in intellect, but you can follow us." Poison said with anair of finality, not caring if Winter was alright with that or not. She walkedout with Bandit and Tulip on her shoulders.
