Chapter 6: That means we can fight 'em!

Jay groans.  "We told Wu that they should've been copies!  But nooo, it's more authentic this way, he said!"

Kai scratches his head.  "But..  Two Twins...  Three mysterious people..  Am I missing something here?"

"No, you're not.  Something doesn't add up."  Nya says thoughtfully.

"Maybe Zane can find those three so we get some answers."  Cole adds.

Zane gives him an indignant look.  "Of course I can find them!"  He says sharply.  "This way!"

-Half an hour later-

Zane's tracking system leads you to the outskirts of the city, to one of the Ninjagian regions' poorer districts.  A slight cold breeze blows by as you crest a hill, as if to emphasize the difficulty of living in such an unforgiving place.

You wrap your arms around yourself and shiver involuntarily.  "Seeing this place..  It makes me realize how lucky we are to be able to call the monastery home."

Kai nods in agreement.  "We have warm beds-"

"-Food.."  Cole continues.

"..A roof over our heads, and plenty of space to do whatever we need or want to do.."  Jay adds.

"..And Master Wu, too."  Lloyd finishes.

Morro has remained silent so far.  He glances down sadly at the slums, the ramshackle buildings, and the ragged children.  "This used to be my life."  He says softly.  "..Before Wu..."  He trails off.  He's never spoken much about his childhood to anyone as far as you're aware.  He'll always say that there isn't much to tell and shuts down any time someone tries to ask him about it.

Morro shakes himself.  "So, Zane.  They're around here somewhere?"

Zane blinks at him.  "Yes.  We are approaching our quarry's final destination."

Nya sighs.  "I really hope that it isn't another child desperate to make ends meet.  They just break my heart."

Zane shakes his head.  "No.  All traces indicate that they are teenagers of various ages."

Cole grins and punches his fist into his hand.  "Great!  That means we can fight 'em!"

Lloyd lays a staying hand on the Earth Ninja's shoulder.  "Not until we know what they want with the Time Blades, Cole."

Cole rolls his eyes, but doesn't complain.  "Fine!  Lead on, Zane."

-Ten minutes later-

Zane guides the team to a small abandoned restaurant.  The windows and doors are thoroughly boarded up, and everyone stands there, puzzled.

Zane looks around, hysterical.  "But I'm certain that the prints lead here!!!"  He yells.

"Zane.."  Lloyd begins exasperatedly,  "-This place hasn't been in use for years!  None of the boards have even been moved!"

"..Or that's what they want us to believe.."  Morro mutters.  "Hmm..  I wonder..?"

You follow him, curious, as he goes around the building to the service entrance and watch as he kicks a low-lying board.  It swings freely on the doorframe, and Morro lets out a rumble of satisfaction.  Then he notices you watching him and explains,  "It's a street-kid trick.  The authorities never check a place like this if it doesn't look like it's being used.  But, judging from all of these fresh scuff marks, it'd be unwise for us to make the same mistake."  He smirks and snaps his fingers.  "Let's get the others over here, shall we?"
