Chapter 44: Dang, she's onto me...

Acronix takes a long look at his brother, who is blubbering nonsense and rolling around on the ground like a toddler having a temper tantrum.  "It hurts me to see him in this pitiful state.  I know that he must be stopped at all costs, but he's still my brother-"

"-He's a monster."  Cole corrects.

"That doesn't change the fact that we're family."

Jay slings an arm around Acronix's shoulders, shooting him a friendly grin.  "Well, like it or not, we're your new family now, Nixie."  Acronix giggles at the nickname, and Jay beams in triumph.  "Guess you're stuck with all of us instead.  It's a fair deal."

Acronix smirks at Ava.  "Family, huh?"

Ava backs away from the ninja with her palms raised.  "I- I just met these people recently.  They're, uh, more like distant cousins, really..."

"Distant cousins can have kids, though, right?"

"Right-  Wait, what?"

"I want lots and lots of babies!!!"  Acronix bursts out.

"WHOSE?!!"  Ava shrieks.

"Yours and mine, of course!!!"

Ava looks rather flustered.  "Mm-kay."

"You should've seen her ogling your statue whenever we were visiting the museum.  She practically dragged us to the Hall of Villainy every tim-  OW!!!"  Rhea cusses as Ava hits her in the head with the edge of her mace.

"SHUT UP, RHEA!!!  THIS DOES NOT CONCERN YOU!!!"

"MY BRAIN!!!"  Rhea wails.

"I can't hurt what you've never had in the first place, so relax, you're fine."

"Dang, she's onto me."  Rhea mutters to another cookie, sadly stuffing it into her mouth and chewing on it rapidly.

Acronix slowly smiles.  "Yeah, you guys are right.  You're all my new family.  Krux sucks anyway.  He's been no fun at all recently.  It's always just 'my vendetta this,' and 'my vendetta that.'  UGH!"

"So, just to clarify: We're allowed to dump Krux, right?"  Kai queries, looking overly hopeful.

'Nix glares at him in annoyance, then turns away.  "Do what you must, but please leave me out of it.  I don't think that I could ever do the deed myself.  I'm sorry."  He murmurs to Krux, then goes to stand guard against the soldiers threatening to press in on your group from all sides.  He summons Tem and has the llama at the ready.

The Warriors eye the brilliantly glowing creature warily, but none of them make any move to attack whatsoever.  Instead, they look increasingly baffled.

"The Warriors seem to be getting mixed signals."  Morro smirks.  "I guess that that means Krux's brain is getting more and more addled."

Lloyd points towards the Stream aggressively and barks out a new order.  "OVER THE SIDE!!!"

"YES, SENSEI!!!"  Your team yells back.

Kai and Nya nod to each other and easily lift up Krux between them.

"Justice."  Kai whispers, as Nya mutters: "Payback."

"Goodbye, brother."  Acronix squeezes his eyes shut as tears begin to roll down his cheeks.

Kai and Nya grunt as they swing Krux into the churning water below, its tumultuous flow all but masking the sound of a soft splash as the elder Twin hits the Stream.  In seconds, the water sweeps away all traces of the suffering villain, never to be seen again.

Acronix's shoulders heave wretchedly, and Ava hesitantly approaches him.  "Cheer up, he's dead now."  She grimaces as he starts sobbing.  "I mean, he's gone for good this time-  Oh, shoot!  What I meant to say is, he's in the Departed Realm now-  DAMMIT!!!  I'm no good at this!!!"  She turns pleading eyes on everyone.  "Can someone help me out here?  Please?!!"

Cole and Zane take 'Nix aside, while Ava breathes a large sigh of relief.  "I'm rubbish at this.  I'm much better at fighting someone to the death."

"Me, too."  Nya agrees.

"Speaking of which, these Warriors need to go.  This place is beginning to feel awfully crowded right about now."

An arrow zips by and embeds itself into a Warriors' head with a thunk, causing it to topple over.  Emily's face bounces into view, looking none the worse for wear.  "I think I can help with that."  She quite literally lights up when she spies Acronix.  "Oh!  Hi, Dad!"

"EMILY TURNER!!!"  Ava screams.

Acronix sniffs and shakily dabs at his eyes with his sleeve.  "Hey, kiddo.  How are you holding up?"

"I'm fine.  I've just been picking up some of my arrows from the fallen."

"Disposing of any material evidence, I see."  Rhea whispers conspiratorially to no one in particular.

"..But I've nearly got a full quiver again, so why don't we deal with all of these Warriors, and then head home?"

"Home?"  Acronix repeats wistfully.

Lloyd sighs.  "I suppose that there's always room at the inn for one more..."

Rhea glares pointedly at Lloyd.

"Okay, four more..."

"YIPPEE!!!"  Rhea, Emily, and Acronix all shout.  Ava just groans.

"Let's Spinjitzu these guys into the Stream!!!"  Emily yells.  "I've tried it, and it turns out that they're all too heavy to float, so they just get stuck there until they vanish altogether."  She snickers somewhat darkly and runs towards the closest Warriors, doing just that.

"Uh, you guys do that."  Morro calls to them.

"Sure thing!"

You move to join the others, but Morro grabs you by your arm and holds you back.  "Wait, YN!!!  I've...  I've got something very important to ask you."

You turn to him.  "Oh?"

He kneels down and produces an elaborately decorated disk from the depths of his gi, his hands shaking a bit from ill-concealed nerves as he pulls it apart and hands you half of it.

You gasp in shocked understanding as he says his next words.  "YN, I'm not always good with words, but please, hear me out.  I've been trying to tell you this for a while now, so here it goes:  I can never even begin to describe how amazing you are, nor how much you mean to me.  But I'm going to tell you, every single day of our lives."  He inhales deeply.  "YN, will you be my Yang?"  He pauses, then adds gruffly:  "..Also, marry me."

You gape at him for a moment, letting his words sink in.  Then you take the proffered half of the medallion and fling yourself into his arms, laughing.  "YES!!!  YES!!!  A THOUSAND TIMES, YES!!!"

A.N: So I'm going to be finally wrapping up this bad boy, and to celebrate, (there will still be an epilogue, don't worry.  Who knows, it might even be long[ish.]  Maybe.  We'll see.) I'm giving you a slightly longer chapter than usual.

You may consider it an early Christmas gift from me, with love to you all.  😊🤗😎

I'm hoping that I can finish this by Christmas, but with my wonky schedule, I'm starting to doubt it.  😅

I'll try though.  😸
