Enchanted Encounters
I awoke from the dream and heard my brothers talking. And I heard a rather deep voice as well. It sounded just like the one in my dream.
I quickly sat up and saw Sam and Dean talking to trench coat guy. Who was this odd man?
"You." I muttered.
He cocked his head to the side. "Have we met before?"
"Yeah. Remember? The dream I just had?"
Dean looked to the man. "Were you spying on my sister's dreams?"
He looked to my brother. "No. I most certainly was not."
"You... you said that I had powers. What powers?"
The man seemed intrigued. "What did I say exactly?"
"You said... my powers will take me to great heights. Something about a prophecy. What prophecy? And who are you?"
"I am Castiel."
"Castiel?" I repeated. "Odd name."
"Well, he's an angel, so yeah." Dean jumped in.
"Angel? This is an angel?" I scoffed. "What are you, some sort of holy tax accountant?"
Dean smiled while Castiel simply looked confused. "This is merely a vessel. No human can withstand my true visage."
"What does your 'true visage' look like then?"
"You wouldn't want to even imagine."
"Cas was just helping to shed some light on this whole situation." Sam spoke up. So this was "Cas". Huh.
"So, why can't anyone remember me?" I asked.
"It is uncertain," Castiel, or Cas, replied. "This must have been done by something very powerful. I am not sure what could have done it."
I sighed. "Great. And all we have is that prophecy you mentioned in my dream."
"Yes, that is quite puzzling. I was never in your dream. I know nothing of a prophecy."
I huffed. "Then what the hell?"
"We should try and find anything on a prophecy involving... this." Sam suggested.
"That sounds good. Sam, you're the brainiac, you can take care of that, right?"
Sam grinned. "Yeah. Consider it done."
"And, hey, did you catch that skinwalker last night?" I asked. I knew they didn't, but they didn't know I knew.
"No," Dean answered. "But now we know it's name. Ted."
I took in a slightly shaky breath. "Oh. Ted, huh?"
They noticed I was uncomfortable. "What is it?" Dean asked.
"Well... no, it's nothing. It's nothing. I just... I knew someone named Ted, that's all."
"Really? How?"
"Um... ex boyfriend."
Dean looked pretty stern at that moment. "What? You dated a skinwalker? What's that all about? You should've been more careful! You-you should've done a background check on him or something, dig up everything about this guy! No, you know what you should've done? You should've called me and let me handle it!"
"Dean!" Sam interrupted.
Dean stopped and looked at each of us, who were all giving him odd looks. "What?"
"Dean," Cas began. "You seem to be acting rather protective of Jasmine."
"What? She's my sister. That's like my job, I guess. Is that my fault? She should've called me."
"Dean, you didn't even know she existed." Sam pointed out.
"Well, I'm sure at that point, I still did. Maybe. Whatever, shut up."
"I'm just worried about whoever, or whatever, is poking at my dreams. And why would it disguise as Cas? I didn't even know you," I looked to the trench coated angel. "But I guess you seem like a... cool guy or whatever."
"Perhaps your dream had something to do with whatever it was that caused all of this," He suggested. "It could've been the same being that did all of this in the first place."
I started getting a really bad headache. I held my head in my hands, hoping I could will it to go away. I rubbed my forehead, the pain starting to spread.
"You okay?" Dean asked.
"Fine," I groaned in response. "Just... freaking headache."
The pain grew worse and worse, until I just couldn't handle it. Everything became a blur, and I must've passed out or something, because next thing I know, I'm sprawled out on the bed, looking up at the ceiling.
I looked around, stars dancing in my vision. There was a strange metallic taste in my mouth, which was much worse than the headache. I saw Cas standing above me, pinning me to the bed by my forearms.
"Wha-what's going on?" I asked in a scratchy voice.
"What did you do?" He asked me.
"What... what do you mean, what did I.... What happened?"
"What do you remember?"
I took a deep breath. "I... I remember a headache. Really bad. And... then I - I passed out or something."
"I'm afraid it was 'or something'."
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. "What?"
"I believe whatever happened had something to do with the powers that were mentioned in your dream."
"Why? What do you mean?" I sat up and took a look at the room. It was a nightmare.
There were books scattered all over the place, a broken lamp in the corner, and something must've knocked Sam and Dean unconscious.
"Cas, what the hell did I do?" I asked, getting up to check on the boys. It wasn't too bad. It was doubtful that either of them had a concussion.
"You seemed to use a form of telekinesis. You made objects move all around the room at high speeds."
"Perfect. I'm Carrie. Just what I need right now." I looked back up at Cas.
"This has never happened before?"
"Hell no! Cas, do you think this has something to do with no one remembering who I am?"
"Perhaps."
I noticed a spot of blood on the right sleeve of his trench coat. That's when I also noticed it was torn. "Cas, you're hurt."
He looked down at his arm briefly then back at me. "It's nothing. I'm fine."
"You know, you'd think you'd have some sort of immunity to... telekinetic stuff since you're a, well, a freaking angel of The Lord and whatnot."
"Yes, I should. It is indeed strange."
"'Strange'? Yeah, way to put it mildly." I scoffed.
I heard Dean groan and I looked down at him. He was coming to, thank god. "Hey, man. I, uh, I'm sorry about... that. You okay?"
He sighed. "I'll live. How the hell did you do that?"
"No clue."
He glanced over at Sam, who was still unconscious. He gave him a light smack on the shoulder. "C'mon, Sammy."
Sam began to stir, rubbing his forehead. "Dean. What happened?"
"You alright?" I asked.
"I've been better."
I helped Dean up, checking on his head again. "You sure you're alright? Because you could easily be a victim of some serious brain damage."
He grinned slightly. "I'm fine. Really."
I helped Sam up, checking his head too. "God, you people are so much taller than me."
"There is something very... off about all of this." Cas spoke up.
"Gee, you think, Cas?" Dean replied sarcastically.
"No, what I mean is, this was clearly done by something extremely powerful. I have sustained an injury. That should not have happened."
"Well what do you suggest we do? 'Cause the way I see it, there's nothing we can do. We should just look into... all of this and see what we can find."
I felt the tiniest throbbing in my head as I looked up at my older brother. I could almost... "sense" something was wrong.
"Dean," I murmured. "What's wrong with you?"
He seemed confused. "What?"
"There's something... dark. I... I don't really know what it is. It's just... dark."
The throbbing grew and grew, until next thing I knew, I found myself grabbing his upper forearm, though I didn't remember trying to.
I let go, taking one step back. "I... I didn't mean to-"
"What do you mean, the darkness?" He asked me.
I furrowed my brows. "What?"
"You said something about 'the darkness'. What did you mean?"
I didn't recall saying anything about darkness. Just that whatever I sensed in Dean was... dark. "I... I never said that. Or at least, I don't think I did."
"Jasmine," Cas spoke up, slowly approaching me. "There is very deep and possibly dangerous magic at play here. And I believe you must learn to control it."
I gave him an incredulous look. "Control it?" I realized Sam and I spoke at the same time. I turned my head to look at him. "What are you so flabbergasted for? I'm the one who has to control it."
"Exactly. How the hell is that gonna happen, Cas? We don't have any idea what's going on, no leads, no nothing. There's no telling what Jasmine can do."
I looked back at Cas, who was eyeing me carefully. "Perhaps I can find a clue." He placed his palm on my forehead, and I felt the biggest rush of my life.
You know when you're in the shallow end of a pool, and you're trying to walk through the water? That's the gist of what this little trip was like, only it was a billion times more extreme.
There was no describing what I saw. It was... blank. Just a black cloud, an empty void. It was everything, yet nothing. I couldn't move, couldn't think, couldn't breathe. I'd never been so scared in my life.
And I could've sworn I saw it speak.
