Chapter 24
Chapter 24- Bad Aura
"All available units, please respond to the fifty six hundred block of Dragon Flats borough. Equalists have taken to the streets, consider them armed and dangerous. Proceed with caution," Your ears perked up at the radio speaking, and you quickly sniffed the air.
"Got the scent, I call front!" You quickly said before Bolin could claim it, making him whine. Everyone got into the mobile as Asami raced down the streets, following the direction where you find the scent trail.
Eventually stopping at a neighborhood, you all find various of gaunt trucks and people screaming and shouting.
"Why is the power out?" Korra wondered, getting out of the mobile.
"Wait a second, these people aren't armed or dangerous," You said in disbelief.
"Sure doesn't look that way," Asami nodded as Saikhan began to talk through a mic.
"All nonbenders, return to your homes immediately," He demanded of the people.
"Yeah, as soon as you turn our power back on!" Cries of protests in agreement began to stir.
"Disperse, or you will all be arrested," Saikhan continued as a woman spoke up.
"You benders can't treat us this way!" She hissed.
"Mummy, look! It's the Avatar!" Her child tugged her shirt and pointed at Korra.
"Please, help us! You're our Avatar, too!" The woman pleaded.
You looked up at Korra, where she looked into your pleasing eyes and pushed the officers aside.
"Everyone, please stay calm. I'm gonna put a stop to this," She said, looking around and spotted Tarrlok.
"Tarrlok, you need to turn the power back on and leave these people alone," The Avatar demanded the counsel man.
"Avatar Korra, you and your playmates have no business here," Tarrlok simply replied, not bothering to even look at her.
"We're not going anywhere. You don't have the right to treat these innocent people like criminals," You snarled, feeling your hackles raised.
"This is an Equalist rally. There is nothing innocent about it," The man glared down at you.
"They're not Equalists, they're just normal people who want their rights back," Asami argued, glaring at the man.
"They are the enemy! Round up all these Equalists!" Tarrlok commanded, and the officers immediately used their earth and metal bending to trap the people.
Your eyes widened at the scene of terrified humans, holding each other, kids wailing as old people were pushed aggressively by police.
"Why are you doing this?!" A woman screamed.
"We didn't do anything wrong!!" An old man groaned in pain, getting pushed by an officer. Your ears twitched, tail flickered in anger as you get your body burn with rage.
"Let them go..."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"You are nothing but the enemy here!!"
"We didn't do anything wrong!! What's wrong with being a Firebender?!"
"You think we would accept you because you both saved us?! Get out!!"
"Don't talk to him that way!!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"You let them go. NOW!!" You shouted, running up and slammed your fists against the ground. That caused the chunks of earth to be placed back, and the non-benders ran off.
"Nothing but a disgrace of a human! Bad aura! Bad aura!" You scowled, chunks of earth surrounding your arms as it began to glow brighter with heat, turning into lava. Officers around you backed away in fear as your eyes glowed.
"One step closer and I'll burn your skin right off," You threatened. Tarrlok scowled, before looking over as Asami and grabbing her arm with a water whip.
"Hey! Let me go!" She yelled, getting pulled into the arms of an officer.
"You're under arrest!" Tarrlok claimed, glaring at you and Korra.
"What? You can't do that!" Mako argued angrily, making you turn and raise a lava arm.
"Actually, I can. She's a nonbender out past curfew and her father is a known Equalist conspirator," Tarrlok simply informed.
"Let her go!" Korra shouted, hackles raised when she saw Asami getting pushed in chains.
"Arrest him and his brother!" Tarrlok commanded, and Mako and Bolin were wrapped with iron chains.
"This is simply a fair police system, don't make it harder than it already is," Saikhan tried to tell you and Korra, but you didn't listen and slammed a lava chunk in front of Tarrlok, but he didn't back down.
"More like police corruption! You slimy, sewer dwelling, no good-!" You were suddenly cut off by a command.
"Stand down," Korra's surprisingly calm voice made you stop, before you set the lava back into stone.
"Unless you want to join your friends in prison, I suggest you both go back to the Air Temple," Tarrlok suggested, with a smug look in his eyes, making you wish you could inflict harm on humans.
"You both listen to him. It's not worth it," Mako told you both, getting pushed inside a vehicle.
"We'll be all right," Bolin reassured you, making your ears droop.
"Don't worry, I'll call Tenzin. He can get you out," Korra called out as the doors of the vehicle closed.
"So sad to see your little Team Avatar broken up. You had a good run," He said in fake sadness.
"This isn't over, Tarrlok," Korra glared at the councilman, but he simply smiled.
"Oh, I believe it is. Take them away," Your hackles rose as you turned around angrily, hair glowing with burning anger.
"I don't have to obey the law, this is not my world to follow! I'll burn and crush their human bones until there is nothing, and they'll be remembered as nothing!" You growled, stomping earth to trap Tarrlok's legs as you were ready to unleash lava on him.
"Little One, please!" Korra placed a hand on your shoulder, pulling you into a hug. Your anger went away, but only a little bit. Officers had to pull Tarrlok out of the earth as Korra picked you up and began to walk away in defeat.
"I want to do that too, but I have to obey... I'm sorry,"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I came as fast as I could. Are your friends all right?" Your ears perked up at the sound of Tenzin, making you run over and hug him tight. His aura always seem to make you feel better, especially at the police station.
"I don't know! These knuckleheads won't tell me anything," Korra said in frustration, running her hand through her hair.
"I'll take care of this," Tenzin reassured you two, before he made eye contact with Saikhan.
"Saikhan, a word please," He motioned the officer over.
"Councilman Tenzin, I'm pretty swamped at the moment. Can this wait?" The human tried to avoid the airbender.
"No, it cannot. Three of Avatar Korra's friends were wrongly arrested tonight. I'd like you to release them immediately," Tenzin politely, yet sternly commanded.
"They're not going anywhere. They were interfering with police business," Saikhan shook his head, walking over.
"Your so called police business was rounding up innocent people and claiming they were Equalists. They should be released, too," You hissed at him, tail bristled.
"All Equalists suspects are being detained indefinitely. They'll be freed if and when the task force deems they are no longer a threat," He explained dismissively.
"Those people are entitled to due process under the law," Tenzin firmly told him as you hissed at the human.
"You'll have to take that up with Councilman Tarrlok," Saikhan simply said, turning his head away.
"Oh, I plan to. At the council meeting, first thing in the morning," Tenzin huffed, fixing his air nomad cloak.
"You're officially the worst Chief of Police ever!" Korra scowled as she got up in Saikhan's face.
"The worst!" You spat out too, knocking over paper piles.
"Calm down, Little One, Korra. I'll get this sorted out, we just need to be patient," Tenzin calmly pulled you two away and was lead to the entrance.
"But you really are the worst!" Tenzin turned and hissed at Saikhan before storming off.
"Ever!" Korra added, stomping away.
"Vatar Krew~!" You whispered while walking backwards, before following behind the two.
"Leaches,"
You laid in bed, your glow lessened as you tried to sleep. But something was wrong, an aura was dark, and it was growing. You tossed and turned, pulling your blanket to your face, wanting to have this feeling go away.
The moon shines through your window, shining down on you. It's... speaking... to you. It's... she's saying something to you.
"K...ta..a," She whispered, making you groan slightly and move again.
"Kat... ra," You repeated in your sleep. It sounded familiar, like you knew it from somewhere.
"H...ma," She whispered again, and you furrowed your eyebrows in confusion, until you finally made out the one simple name.
"Hama..."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You couldn't move, any strength you have in your body feels like it was suddenly being controlled by someone else.
"Don't hurt your friends!!" [—] mocked, lifting her hand up, which made your arm move on its own. She grinned maniacally as she moved your arm to your side, gripping your dagger and pulling it out.
Your eyes widen as your body moved so you're on your knees, looking up in the sky as your arms moved so the dagger is pointing at you.
"K-[ —— ]!!" You whimpered as [—] forced you to open your mouth, and tears poured down as she laughed with malice, and threw her hand down to have the dagger plunge into your mouth.
"And don't let them hurt each other!!"
"NO!!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You gasped, sitting up straight in a cold sweat. Breathing slightly heavily, you looked out through your window.
The moon was still shining down your face, but you finally spoke to her, you understood what she said, but you don't really know what it is.
"Blood...bender...?"
